We removed the fuel tank and installed a temporary one to bring this truck into the shop to facilitate a frame update (no crane in the shop, so we took it off outside). Took about 12 litres to start and idle truck for a couple of minutes, drive it 150 m into the shop and raise and secure the box. Our 20 litre "tank" was just enough!

The Legendary Caterpillar 793 haul truck! Arguably the best mining truck ever produced.Caterpillar has manufactured well over 5,000 units of the 793 thus far! The Production Run has been 30 years, and it’s still going strong.CAT started off with the 793 then 793B,793C,793D, and now the state of the art 793F.The F model must be a super productive haul truck.The result of Caterpillar improving,and fine tuning so many components and systems over the years.

@danking9532 Год назад
I love driving the F model, where I work we have both the F and D models along with 789's. I don't mind the D models but much prefer the quiet cab of the F model and the increased power.

I prefer the 797F. They are the largest that Caterpillar builds
@williamhall9204
@williamhall9204 Год назад
@@nikerailfanningttm9046 The 797F is a real monster haul truck. It is in the ultra class of mining haul trucks. The 797F is rated at 400+ tons payload. It is another CAT haul truck with an excellent track record. The main reason that the 793F is my favorite is due to its versatility, reliability, and the fact it can handle a 250 ton payload and work in a wide variety of mines. The 793 models are basically the bread and butter of the mining industry. There must be thousands of mechanics/technicians around the world that have experience working on the various 793 models.I do realize that in some mining operations you must have the massive capacity that the 797 series of haul trucks provides. It’s all about COST PER TON. That is the #1 issue for the mine owner/operator.

I work with these every day. My job is to wash them before they go into the shop and in order to do so I have to walk underneath it to spray mud off the underside, I’m 6’5 and can stand comfortably underneath. On all the haul trucks they have a battery box on the front, and a starter shut off switch as well as a battery shut off switch which is required both be locked and tagged out, and a wheel chock is placed under the front wheel. It’s honestly such a cool thing to walk under a machine that’s the size od a three story house. Really makes you feel tiny, in fact as a 6’5 person I barely come up to the middle of the wheel lol

I'm amazed that anyone would even try to counterfeit Caterpillar parts. I used to help make boxes for Caterpillar V12 engines and we even had to be spot-on with the boxes. Very attention to detail. But with all due respect... who allowed your shop to be designed without a crane? with Caterpillars?
@MrSomeguyV2
@MrSomeguyV2 Год назад
People will counterfeit anything that is profitable, even aircraft parts. A counterfeit bolt caused the crash of Partnair Flight 394 in 1989 and lead to an international crackdown on fake or stolen aviation equipment.

Ya, the truck was about to undergo a major frame repair which involved removing a window plate behind the fuel tank. The shop has no crane and the tank was going to be on a side of the truck that we had no access to with a service truck or forklift once it was inside. We removed the tank outside and that it what I came up with to get the truck into the shop.

They hook to the rear diff of the truck when the body is raised and you're working on it, in case there's a mechanical failure and the body drops.
