Love Beautiful Feet Books and I met Rea Berg and we talked about the Lord, books and homeschooling. She is lovely. You can always pick the middle history study with them and grab a few of the upper books for your bigs to read. I have a Huge span from high school to first grade and this has worked well for us. I have already graduated one and he has done well and has a well rounded education 🥰 went to college and in his career. Love your curriculum picks.

Blessings.

The Institute for Creation Research has a couple young earth dinosaur books that we grabbed. Guide to Dinosaurs would be great for his age. We absolutely love it. We're using TGTB paleontology this fall as well and it's gorgeous! Mindful Family has a great flip through up. Please do a review over Master Books paleontology course. I love your reviews :)

We bought all the dinosaur books individually (without the curriculum) to go along with TGATB paleontology unit. It was challenging to find dinosaur books from a biblical viewpoint, so I was so excited to find those from Masterbooks! A couple more we found were Chronicles of Dinosauria by Dave Woetzel and Dry Bones & Other Fossils by Gary E. And Mary M. Parker, if you’re interested!

I have been to an ark here in Norway, and loved it, but there was no dinosaurs there. So yeah for the decider to want to learn about dinosaurs in a biblical way 🙌 Often we as Christians get questions about how old the earth is, and about dinosaurs too, and we are treated as idiots in lack of better English wording for believing the Bible, and knowing more about dinosaurs in a biblical way will both be interesting for him (and your family) and for later on to have a deep down knowledge and could answer questions in a good way. Thank you for sharing, love and blessings from Johanne, Norway 🇳🇴

Oh man, now I'm nervous to continue with teaching textbooks.... 🤦‍♀️ I've had my concerns but so many use it that I figured its surely a sound curriculum. Would love a video with your thoughts on why it wasn't a good fit and maybe the gaps you've seen with your kids from using it.

I would stay with TT if you like it. My older son switched from Saxon to Teaching Textbooks in high school. It was wonderful! He scored high on his SATs, earned an A in Calculus 1 his freshman year at a university with a strong engineering program, and he is now a junior on his way to earning a degree in electrical engineering. I’ve read all the scary reviews too, however not all kids are going to be good at math and it wouldn’t matter what curriculum they use.
@GraceandGrit
@GraceandGrit 2 года назад
I’d disagree. My son is extremely gifted in math. To the point of not even using a pencil and paper for his algebra 1 course with shormann this year. He too, was very frustrated by the lack of instruction provided in the 15-20 min lecture on tt.
@GraceandGrit
@GraceandGrit 2 года назад
There wasn’t one isolated case of… ok this is missing. Overall as the curriculum continued I began to see huge concepts not being taught. Lack of instruction and examples on what is taught. Large jumps in the sequence of concepts introduced. And once something is skipped over in math the foundation begins to have cracks making further concepts much more difficult to understand. And much more. But it’s best that each family discover and research it for themselves.

We are doing BF Middle Ages with Mystery if History added :) I love your videos but please don’t do this “same intro” as an on going thing. It feels so weird to hear the same thing over and over again.
@GraceandGrit

Not everyone watches all the videos. So if someone comes for one then they need an intro, and if you’ve watched them all then it can be skipped past so you aren’t left listening to the “same thing”. Appreciate your feedback 👍

My son is just completing TT Pre-Algebra and finishing up 7th grade. I feel like there are gaps and I’d rather back up and do Shormann Pre-Algebra for 8th than have an Algebra struggle bus on my hands! 🤪 My real issue though is my twins who are going to 6th. They are finishing up TT level 6 right now. What did you use instead of Teaching Textbooks before Shormann for 6th grade? 😬 My kids have loved the TT format, but I can tell we will hit the same difficulty with pre-algebra with them. There’s just something off with the pacing and explanation of the concepts that didn’t work well. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So I have been struggling so bad with if I made a wise decision going with Teaching Textbooks. We have been doing Saxon, and I have been in between “Nicole the math lady” or TT. I have already thought that I would move him into Shorman math, I have heard GREAT things about Shorman Math online! He will be in 6th grade in the fall. What grade does Shorman Math begin? I have heard there are a few missing components with TT, but just wanted your advice!

I was just curious as to what, in particular, were the gaps with TT ? Would you mind sharing a few examples? My daughter has taken Algebra 1 & Geometry with TT. She’s done very well so far, but I’m just wondering if there are gaps that will become evident on the SAT, which she will take this next school year. Also, if I were to switch her to something like Shormann for Algebra 2, would she be able to jump right in with no problem…
@GraceandGrit
@GraceandGrit 2 года назад
My son also got an A+ using TT a good grade doesn’t mean that the concepts are all being taught. If she enjoys it, and you’re happy than my opinion and observation shouldn’t sway you. There wasn’t one isolated case of… ok this is missing. Overall as the curriculum continued I began to see huge concepts not being taught. Lack of instruction and examples on what is taught. Large jumps in the sequence of concepts introduced. And much more. But it’s best that each family discover and research ut for themselves.

We also used teaching textbooks. Ever since you've made your switch I have been pondering your thoughts. You may have answered this already wondering if you could be more specific as to what holes and gaps? I have an eighth grader and 9th grader I need to determine if switching is what we need to do. I have done my own internet searching trying to find more info on gaps and I just can't find it.
