After watching this and reading some comments, i realized that everyone's focus is only on the lady. No one commented on the husband not being a good listener, a shoulder to lean on. He was more concerned about his career and status in the business world. Even when the wife wanted to talk to him about what was going on in her life he shut her up thinking she wanted to talk about her musical career.( That's wrong)! But in all, good movie. The most important thing is to marry someone you can tell anything and everything. The mother-in-law is a horrible person. Why would you make someone that's part of your family feel that way? To me yeah, the lady didn't feel welcome in that family.

It's not that we run out of intimacy, communication is key. I relate to her husband 100%. It's not that he didn't love her. On the contrary, he wanted to make a life with her. The issue was communication, or lack thereof. It's insinuated that she was attracted to his drive, success, and social status. So he put forth 100% effort to engulf her in that. Didn't you see how he would call her with news about his job, promotions, successes etc? As soon as he got his big achievement, he purposes starting a family. A man that doesn't love a woman, doesn't waste his time nor energy on that. Her issue was she felt incomplete. What drew her to him, dwindled, and she wasn't ready to make the type of commitment he wanted. She didn't know what she wanted, and that drifted her away, and got her in trouble. She needed to communicate to him how she felt, and what she wanted out of life. He needed to take her wants and aspirations more seriously. Been there, done that. It was a good movie. Showed a realistic dynamic of long term relationships.

you are correct. Not a mistake , a choice. How the drive to be fulfilled is stronger than her commitment and she gave in because who she is. it is difficult to be someone we are not. Our true self will come out one day, so if we can not be honest from the start, I feel would be better to make other choices, but we all have something to hide.
