It's amazing how everyone just gets up and just leaves at the end of the lecture. He honestly deserves a round of applause, because that was brilliant!
@@iamok2009 You guys should be grateful to him. In my university, teachers don't even bother to do practical examples, just theory. And of course, we don't use laboratories for the whole 3 years.
This teacher is so good that in 50 min I gained more understanding than in weeks at my university. Till now I was just crunching the numbers and getting results, now I look at a formula and immediately have an insight at what's going on. He is simply awesome!
I have been studying physics at one of the oldest universities of the world, one that is very proud of its heritage (doubtfully, as they did court Lenard). But I only remember ONE of all the profs teaching who is faintly comparable to your way of explaining. Most are not even capable to put a headline to a lecture (like »today we talk about speed, velocity, acceleration«) and just start writing dx/dt etc on the blackboard without any reason becoming obvious for the students watching / listening. I can't remember any of my teachers (starting from school) introducing the concept of accuracy with the topic of measuring itself. So, please do not be that modest. While teaching at my university was aimed at casting out 60% (believing that the remaining 40% would be the elite and not the cheaters), your lectures are targeted to take the whole bus to the destination. My great appreciation for this. And you know that you are a great stage performer, too - big motivation aspect. I hope that anyone who tries teaching students will watch your videos.
@@Skarminvestorsyou can go through the lectures for conceptual understanding, and go through some books for question practice for jee. That'll be enough..
I am 30 years old now, I am from Argentina. I was wrong when I went to college, I studied something I do not really enjoy now, so I decided to go back to school at my age and start a physics career in my local University. Now I am more mature and I enjoy learning as I enjoy a movie. Science gave my life a purpose, and this lecture is making my trip way easier, I would like to thank you Walter for your passionate and amazing job at teaching us. I cannot be more greatful to be able to see an actual MIT class from my desk back in Argentina, I really appreciate what you are doing here, thanks.
At this moment in time, when we are forbidden to receive quality education due to unreasonable restrictions, i must say this video lecture is priceless. I spent hours trying to comprehend the concepts of kinematics from many books, yet i learned more from a 50 minute video in a foreign language. Best wishes to those who produced this material.
I studied physics most of my life , I love physics and physical science .I teach for more than 14 years before reaching this wonderful country .i will say that you have my admiration for the way you teach physics that has attracted as this science to many young people .
@@yugandhareverything889 bro concepts ke liye enough h but you need practice and give attention to the advanced syllabus, but you can watch him if you love Physics , this will make Physics easy for you
Just found this.... have now watched the first two lectures and am hooked. I've decided I'm going to watch every lecture you have to offer. Great teacher. Love it!
Walter, I love the way you teach I can't stop watching your lectures over and over, I wish I had someone like you in class, those students don't realize how lucky they were. Greetings from Argentina!!! hope you are well!
as a jee aspirant these lectures have helped me a lot not only in cracking tha advanced problems but also in regaining my interest in physics. lots of love from india.
after years studying physics in high school most of the material in this video was more or less known but still I felt like pieces of puzzle were only now falling into place, I'm loving these videos!
Watched all your mit lectures about 4-5 year ago. Still visit to watch it again and again. Each one of those are masterpiece. It doesn't just inspire students but teachers all over the globe. In one of those lecture camera turned to a student who was sleeping, literally sleeping. At that time I thought, How can someone sleeps in walter lewin's lecture.
Your lectures are really wonderful, thank you so much for sharing them. I took physics in college because I really enjoyed it but majored in economics which I also enjoy very much. I think if I had had you as a teacher, things would have turned out differently!
Dear sir, your are great. Your lectures are giving us motivation to win noble.I just want to say that in our universe only few people are born to change it and you are the one. Thankyou so much to change my life.😊😊
11:02 Newton invented a time machine, travelled into the future and found out he has sight defects, he ended up wearing glasses. To cover up with the physics that was discovered after his death. He joined Walter Sir's classes, because Walter sir is the best you can get.
I think the one thing better than having a gift is being able to share a gift. And for that we thank you. I am looking forward to getting stuck into these lectures, this is far better than any TV series!
I always thought physics to be a subject way out of my league, hence mugged up max formulas of it, sir, I'll remain eternally grateful to you for teaching me how relevant it is to delve into this subject, not only to prepare for an entrance but also to explore the massive wonders of this Universe and Beyond! Lots of Respect Sir ~ D (A Science Student from India)
I'm taking physics in high school to take aerospace engineering in university. Thank you for providing free access to your wonderful lectures!! They are both entertaining and educational :)q
Newton's apple IS the most widely known of all celebrities. Any others are so time constrained that only a small proportion of the populace ever knew them - perhaps barring Hank VIII and his wives' heads in baskets, as they were all 100 years older than Ike...
Earlier, I used to find Physics very boring, then due to an accidentally I came to this channel and now Physics is my favorite subject you made it so interesting ...😍now I love to watch your lectures....☺️ From -India🇮🇳
It's a violation of the law of conservation of energy !!! How can he get such an enormous amount of energy continuously to teach Physics out of an ordinary human body ? It's just awesome .😍😍😍
@KESHAV There is no record of Newton having children. He must be Newton's great great great grandchild in spirit. Maybe Newton inspired his appearance.
I'm very thankful to you sir for your interesting physics lectures. I'm very curious at the time you say that you are going "TO TEST". Your experiments are wow! There are very few lectures in India that perform practicals wid theory that you do...and I just love your lectures! Hope you are well and good!😊
The way you teach is awesome I wish I had teachers like you in my country Here teachers just teach for the shake of scoring not for learning But your lectures are very intuitive and fun I love Physics from a very young age (8 years old) Now I am 17 and starting my first year of Undergraduate Degree in Physics, Chemistry and Maths And want to be a Physicist in future So my salute to you for giving these wonderful lectures Love from Himalayas , India
An anecdote from my life : " When I was 8 I first read the story of Newton's apple and I wanted to verify the truth I went to my backyard took a coconut and throeght on the air on a table of crystal i had a good scolding but mark my life i my love for physics
At the time 26.07 min in this video equation shown for acceleration as 2nd derivative of velocity and time is missing "SQR"for the time. Minor mistake/typo while professor was presenting it. On the second line for acceleration equation was added. Fantastic lectures ... Bravo
a person like you sir should teach other lecturers how to teach or may be its a gift and charisma i have seen professors like talking robots or may be worse
When teachers ask my advice then I respond. However, I have learned during my 43 years at MIT that every teacher, no matter how bad their teaching is, thinks that they are GREAT! I know several good teachers (and there are quite a few at MIT) who have talked to the bad ones in the hope that they would improve. It never helped.
I am so happy you did this. I can follow my own professor, but he seems to leave certain things out that keeps coming up in the homework. Thanks a lot for this. Just a quick question, what math was required to take this class. I assume at least basic calculus with derivatives, but was integral calculus required as well?
Thankyou sir for clearing all my doubts regarding circular motion.Although tomorrow is my exam!!!You gave me a good revision of this chapter!!!😀From-🇮🇳
Sir, you taught them many years ago and this RU-vid never brought them in my recommendations when I was scrolling down. I wish I had more time :( Thank you sir for such wonderful lectures.
thanks u sir ....it is u and this technology which make possible that a student who is in india and unable to afford mit can learn physics.... thanks. 🙏
@@lecturesbywalterlewin.they9259 thank you sir for replying......... OMG ... 😱😱😱. i can't believe u replied... i am going to tell this too my friends.... thank you .... u r a legend.....

Dear Dr. Lewin, I am a physician who has an insatiable curiosity about the "truth defined by physical law"...I'm working on a book on how I am using physics to define the material strength that makes up our bodies and what fails when injury or disease takes place. More specifically, the changes that exist in our biomaterials and the responses those stresses have on our function. I couldn't have approached this topic without you....simply the best physics professor I've ever known.
Charles Wright Oh, no i'm just a high school student interested in the subject. I don't think that you should send it to me for review as I would be far under-qualified, although you could still send me a copy if you really wanted.
We need this kind of teacher. I couldn't imagine how this can be explained in less than hour whereas, our math class makes very slow progress that's why I always advance my studies. I don't know if that's normal, but if it is, then normal is wrong (referring to our math class).
Hello professor Lewin! I am wondering if you could give me the ISBN code for the book you used for this course? I find your lectures extremely helpful and the book that I have for Physics II for your course is great as well. Just want to complete my collection. Thanks
I have very high difficulty understanding physics in my university since the teacher doesn't give a damn. But you care. Thanks, you are very respectable professor.
Hello Professor ! First of all thanks a lot for your brilliant lessons ! I followed your reasoning at 17:02 concerning the uncertainty of measurement and the fact that the 0.3% relative error concerning the distance is negligible. However, in determining the uncertainty of the velocity, is the following calculation correct: velocity as measured = 148.5 x 10^-2 / (5.8 x 10^-3) = 256 m/s maximal erroneous value on velocity determination = 149 x 10^-2 / (5.7 x 10^-3) = 261 m/s Thus true velocity = 256 +/- 5 m/s (and not +/- 4 m/s) 5 / 256 = 0.0195 so the relative error concerning the estimation of true velocity is still just below 2%, as we wanted. Best regards, JM
Thank you Sir for many students have gained marvellously through your gifted teaching Not only students of MIT but whole world Why Sky is blue .Cigarette puffed in and immediately puffed out unto tube light White Puff keep it for 30 seconds puffed out Blue Moisture of water Simple pendulum Risky but never reached the amplitude etc etc
Thanku sir u are incredible i got this channel yesterday by my senior and now i am adicted to physics.... This helps me a lot for preparing jee exam thanku sir ❤
the best physics teacher more energitic and enthousiastic. i begin to love physics because of you sir and your lovely book for the love of physics. thank you
Sir, I absolutely love your lectures. Thankyou for making physics fun for me. You really made a subject otherwise hated fun for me. Thankyou so much. Love from India
