the riser pads don't align perfect because u have risers made for ventures! the risers were labeled with a "V". the riser pads made for thunder are labeled as "T".
Real makes risers for Thunder and Venture. You have the risers made for Ventures. That's why they're not lining up right. I have both, and they line up perfectly with the right truck. Great risers. I'm definitely gonna get some of those 93a Spitfires. I'm glad they're finally making a softer durometer wheel. Thanks for the review. I can't imagine how different your setup must feel with an 8.75, 58's and 1/4" risers. That's a huge change. It's what I skate, but I'm an old timer that started in the 80s when we skated 1/2" risers and 60mm wheels. Your ollies and flip tricks look awesome, like you adjusted immediately.
Thanks for the comment dude. I realized that afterwards 😂. Oh well, the risers still work and I love the bigger set up. My smaller set up feels like a small toy now.
Hi! nice setup! nice wheels. The risers you bought are for "Venture Trucks" notice they have a "V" (green tag), the ones for "Thunder Trucks" have a "T" (blue tag), and the ones that are "Universal" have a "U" on the tag (yellow tag).
i dont know about the spitfire 93a wheels but i know the powell dragons are on anther level. they feel absolutely amazing. all the comfort of the soft wheels with all the vibes of hard wheel
not really. its more like a normal "modern" set up. a lot of Pros young pros ride bigger set ups. 8.75 and up/ and get tech and gnarly on that type of set up. A lot of people are riding 58mm wheels and 60mm wheels and skating rails and stairs great. if anything a 8.25 set up looks weird small and counter productive. cant ride that in the streets that's for perfect cement. I do ride a bigger board in the streets and a smaller board on flat ground no rocks smooth cement only board.
51yo and I have almost the exact same setup. Antihero 9" classic eagle, Thunder 161's, and 58mm 97a Spitfire Radial Fulls. Can't wait to get some of these 93a Radials.
I love the blue meanie so much i bought 2, I like the fact it’s more of a shovel nose and tail. Very squared. It’s an 8.75 at the front truck and 8.5 at the back truck. I had 149 Indys and 58mm OJ double duros on mine.
I skated a Blue Meanie during COVID lockdown and liked it more than i thought I would. Had it setup with indy 159 titaniums and 52mm conical fulls. Even though it was an absolute tank, it was way more nimble feeling than I thought it would be
For the bones bushings they don't require a bottom washer so that's why they feel tight. I personally use a standard top washer on the bones bushings instead of their included black ring after seeing many pros do that.
I’ve actually never owned a set of spitfires. Been digging the x97. x99 seems nice but haven’t ridden them yet, still in packaging. I do like the smoother and quieter ride, less vibration
I ride the white Anti Hero 8.75 'cuz I got size 12 feet. I put Indy Stage 4 151 reissues with an extra washer on the inside on mine. Wish I coulda bought Ace AF1s but 8.75 is inbetween the 55s and 66s. I rode Stage 4s when they came out and the new Stage 4 reissues ride just like Ace AF1s, as I have AF1s on other set ups for that tight turn on transitions, so I'm familiar with both trucks. Never tried Thunder. I went from Bennett(plastic baseplates!🤬) in 1974 to Tracker to Indy and then to Ace after the 'Stage 9 sh!t show'(computer designed trucks), although Stage 11 is great and I've still always ridden Indy 215s on my 10" pool boards but now that Ace recently released the new 10" AF1 Model 80, I'm gonna have to try those for sure! Great video. Keep up the good work.
Got them in a 56D on a 9" Herion board with AF1 66 Hollows. Fantastic wheel! Got the Dragons and the sapphire spitfire too, I think these new 93's are the best!
Damnn i just picked up all the stuff for a complete at my local on Sunday! I went with 8.25 krooked, BA Ace AF1 44s, Neon yellow spitfire classic 52mm, Bones Swiss bearings, and biggest little hardware. I haven’t set it up yet but man I seen hella different sets of those new spitfire 93a at the shop and now i wish i kinda grabbed a set. lol i actually prefer conical or radial shape but I COULD NOT pass up the neon yellow colored wheels (in 2006 my neighbor had a set and i thought they looked so sick so i been on a hunt for a set in that color since then xD). PS man now I’m lowkey tempted to stop by the shop and grab a set! But yo man great video Adriano, I love your videos and watching you rip
My only issue with 93 durability is the when you stick on certain tricks where both wheels contact on a slide bu everything else is very nice. They are, way easier on the feet/knees, higher rebounding pop, powerslides great too.
Just went from a year and a half of dragons to X97, it’s gonna take some getting used to a harder wheel 😂. If the spitfires slide better than dragons, it might have to be my next set!
I run thunders and bones mediums. The bones washers made the trucks click when I turned so I switched to a thunder top washer and no bottom washer and it sounds normal.
Hey man. sick vid. One question: Would you say these wheels are good for a filmer setup? Looking for control and speed but particularly quietness. I don't like my actual filmer setup, with super soft cruiser wheels, because I can't catch up with the skater as he usually goes faster with his 99s. But it's super silent, which is nice on the mic. And as a skater I don't have the same control as with my usual 8.125/147s/53mm 99a. I.m planning on getting these wheels for a 8.25 setup with 148 thunders and riser pads. In this way I can also play around and do casual tricks on my filmer days. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Cheers!
Seems like you’ve figured the rider thing out. I do want to point out why the bushings feel tight though. The stock thunder bushings aren’t as tall as the bones ones. Taking the bottom washer out should help a little bit. Or you could go the extra mile and buy another set and just use the tops haha. I can’t remember who, but I’ve read that’s what some pros have done.
really curious about those wheels. i love the quieter and softer feel of dragons but really don't like the way they crooked grind on metal angle iron. if the spitfire formula can slide on metal they would be superior based on that alone.
I have looked several times at the model of wheels that you use and I am still wondering if these wheels are "prototypes"? The only ones I can find on the internet are the soft sliders and yours are completely white?!
Someone that skates with Andrew Reynolds told me he was exclusively skating dragon wheels for a while so he must be getting spitfire to copy that formula.
@@fiore_adriano yeah i had 7.5, 7.65 in the '90s but kept going up bit by bit, 8.25 by late '90s. kinda float 8-8.25 on popsicles, though i do have 8.375 and 8.5 in my stack, and 9.25 and up on shapes
hi adriano, would u ever do a house tour or show more of ur personal life or do u want to keep the channel strictly skating. I found your video reviewing skateboarding website designs really interesting and would love to hear more about your graphic design background / job. Your houses interior design in the background of home vids also looks really interesting and maybe some people would be interested in seeing more
Hey, thanks for the comment! I've considered sharing more into my work and personal life. I'll keep that in mind. Work and life has been hectic lately and filming/documenting and editing just isn't the priority at the moment. Keeping this in mind for this summer maybe. :)
Like 63 and raws alot. I usually just buy which ever colorway I can get for 20 to 25 which is often online. Which is a steal when they are 35 msrp. I def dig Antis eagle logo but not a fan at all of the grimlin lookin dude on some of their other boards. Just not a cool lookin gremlin to me.
I need to know if these 93a soft sliders work on pinch grinds on metal coping, ledges and rails? The dragons would chirp and stop like when tryin crooks on metal.
I have the 93’s on 2 different boards. Got 54mm on Thunder light 148’s and 8.125 deck. Then 58mm on Thunder hollow light 149’s and 8.25 deck. I love them so far. Never skated F4 99’s or 101’s. But they don’t feel softer than Spitfire 99 standards. They’re smoother but they slide easier so I’m not really sure how it works that way?
@@fiore_adrianoi usually get 56. i've been getting 56-60 since late '90s bc they're fast and last real long. plus i like wider wheels and they tend to get skinnier the smaller you go
They flatspot .very disappointed. U wont get it if you powerslide on rough ground cus the wheels get chewed easily , more so than the dragons. but I got flatspots on fairly old skatepark ground with these wheels , they feel good with nice rebound . Completely silent on slides at least my set of wheels are Renolds are .regardless of surfaces 😅
Your cruiser is .5 in smaller then the board i use haha i love seeing people not used to big boards love them. I ride a 9.25 shaped boards or square tail shaped, and man i cant go back to nothing smaller. I never knew if people ride smaller boards because of shoe size and or weight rather than flip speed. Im about 190 and 5foot11 and 11 and a half shoe size us and i cant get comfty on a 8.25 or even 8.5 feels like the smallest i could go. Wonder if you have any input love the video!!❤
Just saying being your first time you are setting up a real board you over thought the setup. So risers if you try flipping the riser you would see that it fits properly and besides if you skate and do slide on your tail or nose any sticker or any thing like a riser hanging in the slide zone it will bite or slow your slide being a huge poser mistake but just speaking from skating for years and still throwing my tail and Ollie’s over the cooping and far grinds for a old dog I still love to skate and rails yes helps with your slide but truly was for grabs more and used more for reinforcing your deck making it almost bomb proof. And properly installed to the concave of your board and the grip that fit you will dictate the placement. So a board with a lot of concave the rails are useless because the rails will raise the edge the middle will exceed the rail unless you brin it in way to much the last thing you want is the middle draging and your rails are not sliding so that’s why street skates no longer rock rails now days
in actuality he did amazing 360 flip on that board considering the wheelbase is "14.75" that's what made it hard. not the width or length those are actually really nice, for tricks. 8.75 feels nice for all tricks really stable.
