Restomods. You either love them, the idea of taking something really classic and making it, well, better. Or you hate them, and think it's the devil's work playing with what is near perfection.
But, whether you like them or not, they're definitely here to stay, and in increasing numbers. From Singer carefully reimagining Porsche 911s to some of the more extreme makeovers we apparently can't get enough of them.

I personally really like what Retropower has done in the last few years. Especially their project Utah, their Alfa Romeo GT junior, the couple of W111's and that sweet Stratos with the Busso. Well worth a look in my opinion.

The big plus with restomods over modern supercars is that you can have companies like Alfaholics or Singer fit/supply some of their bolt on parts they've developed (like suspension packages) on a more affordable base car Alfa or 911, without the massive expensive or long wait time.

I love anything Porsche. I love anything Corvette. Most see the Porsche, and hear the Corvette. Gawd I love the different ways these two go at it.......restomod away.

I’d actually be interested in the Alfa and the Lancia. I’m a sucker for older models of those brands and considering how gorgeous their restomods are nowadays if money was no object I’m in lol

I would really love to see an old, ugly, unloved ‘70s/‘80s car get the full restomod treatment, like a TR7 FHC, Fiat X/19, Delorean, or a Fiero.

The FIAT X19 is 'the' original and most exotic one here and the one that deserves THE FULL restomod treatment... it was designed by none other than Marcello Gandini himself (designer of the Lamborghini Miura / Countach / Lancia Stratos Zero etc.) and it entered production in 1972 (50 years ago!!!) and has had numerous imitators afterward - (1975) Triumph TR7, (1982) Nissan Pulsar NX/EXA, (1984) Pontiac Fiero, (1984) Toyota MR2, (1987) Honda Prelude... In my opinion, if the emphasis went on lightening the car (with carbon fibre?) and modifying the original engine, 150 horsepower and 800 kg weight would transform the car into a genuinely fun toy that would make even the fussiest guy smile like a 5 year old.

The Delorean would be my second choice, but the packaging was flawed from the drawing board. The person who decided the engine needed to be mounted BEHIND the rear axle when it only had seating for two should have been shot! Having said that, a reengineered chassis with new subframe so as to allow a proper north-south mid-mounted engine would make the car handle the way it should have handled from day one - and a great engine to consider would be the AUDI 4.2L V8 as they are incredibly short and might allow a respectable front-to-rear weight distribution if mounted just behind the seats.

I love the MG B GT so the Frontline restomod on the MG B roadster does it for me. I can't afford that but I do have an MG B GT V8 with 5 speed Mazda box. Holley carb, pancake filter, Frontline rear suspension. Love it my own pocket rocket.

U Left out the Jensen Interceptor restomod, the & MGB by Speedwell. I'd like the following cars to be restomoded: Rover p6, the Triumph Stag & TR5, the Zagato Bristols of the 70's, the Sunbeam Stiletto, the Rover experimental jet turbine racing car of the 60's, the latest Bentley coupes V8 & 12's, Lotus 130s 5, the Classic two door Range Rover and on and on ..

Of all the corvettes, the 82 is the most beauriful in my mind. Unfortunately because it was the early 80s, like most cars, performance didn't match the beauty. Id love to restomod my 82 corvette. People are always stopping me to talk about it and complement how it looks.

Just a tip on pronounciation. I'm Italian and every time I hear how you (and most of English-speaking car enthusiasts) say "Lancia", my heart skips a beat. The correct pronounciation is more similar to as if it was written "lancha". Btw, great video and great cars, I'd love to have some of them 😏.

No matter how many petty people complain about the English pronunciation of Lancia, it's no different than hearing an Italian pronounce an English name in their own accent.

Great video! So much thoughtful design and intense workmanship among these builders. But let’s be honest, Singer is the only one among all of these builders that disrespects the DNA of the car they started with. In favor of their fantasy Porsche, with Rolls Royce interior, Singer cannibalizes and obliterates every 911-964 they start with. I’ve been inside and underneath a Singer. Their engineering and workmanship are admirable and flawless. But that doesn’t erase their fundamental conceptual flaw of poaching substantial numbers of true Porsches in order to create an exquisite and exclusive car that Porsche did not and would not have made.

I love the GTA, but the version Alfaholocs created in the video, just looks like a bloated fish that washed up on the banks. Why ruin such gorgeous proportions? The only one on the list I'm not a fan of. Luckily they make the normal version.

Looks to me the same design as a GTA Corsa, or GTAm built by Autodelta from 69-71. I think they went to great expense to restore an original car by tracking down the expensive alloy Autodelta used, based on an original car. I think they will do whatever spec the customer asks. Not trying to argue with you, but you seem to have a wrong impression of the company, and don't know what a GTAm or Corsa is, if you think Alfaholics 'ruin' Alfas. I think most of these cars change the base car appearance more than Alfaholics does.

@RuyLopezQB6 I didn't say Alfaholics ruins the cars. I think the do an awesome job. I just don't like the bloated shape of the one in the video. Regardless if it is done by alfaholics or not. I know it was a purpose built race car. I'm just referring to its bloated design and my disinterest in it.
