If you like patchouli then try from the house of shaghaf oud azraq dare I say better than psychedelique more chocolate cakeyness back up bottle worthy to me…kudos
Thank Sebastian on your recommendations. I have purchased both Patchouli Reminiscence and Joyvoy Psychedelique. The Joyvoy started out harsh and very boozy on my skin. I was like what the hell. After and hour later it became so intoxicating. People please try out these fragrances. Wow!
Yes!!! Montale Patchouli Leaves is my favorite. I just received Reminiscence Patchouli to take advantage of the current price. I'm not sure if it's the tolu balsam but wears super musky on my skin. Have you tried the Elixir? Another fantastic patchouli for me is Dyptique Tempo, it does end up to wear chocolatey on my skin.
Before I sampled Psychedelique, I thought I didn't like patchouli. I think it has to do with me smelling stinky patchouli lol think insense. Listening to you talk about Jovoy in your previous videos, I thought well I will give it a try. O M G!!! This is one of the best smells I have ever put my nose on in my entire life! It is soooo good!! I had to get a decant to really test it out before I get myself a bottle. I wore it yesterday. I couldn't stop smelling myself I smelled so good. 8 sprays lasted me the entire day, about 14 hours before I was home and in the shower. Could have gone 20 hours easy, and my sweater still has the scent on. It will last for days until I wash it. So thank you Sebastian for recommending it. It really is one of the best smells. BTW I can listen to you for hours talking about fragrance. I love your videos and your recommendations!
I'd like to mention, sprayed Reminiscence Patchouli on my arm at the beginning of this video, thinking I had no fragrance there, but few hours ago I had sprayed YSL Opium pour Homme EDT right there actually. It's been already almost as long as this video, so more than 15 mins. This layering smells fantastic to me. I like these two fragrances on their own of course, but I might like this combination even more. Will keep checking
@@ThePerfumeGuy Today trying the combo on purpose. and does smell great to me, no doubt, well at least on my skin. Checked in detail their notes, they both have tolu balm, vanilla, and cedar, maybe that´s part of why they seem to blend quite so smoothly/effortlessly: quite a few common notes. Their combination to me seems to have a sort of normal wholeness as if it was fragrance on its own, not a mix of.
I love Psychedelique and Reminiscence. With all the changes at Les Nereides I've put Honore Payan's on my wishlist instead as they manufactured LN's patchouli antique for them. HP have an oak-aged patchouli
Have you tried Reminiscence Patchouli Elixir (not the now discontinued Inoubliable version but the current one)? The juice is lighter in color but it's an EDP and smells similar to the original but stronger and denser. Reminiscence calls it "The intense version of Patchouli". I highly recommend it! Also, you would most definitely love Patchouly by Profumum Roma as it's in the same class as the Jovoy but it's a bit richer, more chocolate cakey, resinous, and perhaps a bit less earthy (I actually love Psychedelique for it's earthy qualities as well).
I have the lesser ones mentioned….the Santa Maria Novella, the Molinard, plus the Molinard Intense, plus Javoy Psychedelique. Another one I have that no one ever mentions is il Profvmo’s Patchouli Noir which I also enjoy and I love the bottle even though it may not be that chocolate cakey as the Javoy.
I've been enjoying a sample of V Canto's "Mea Culpa", and yesterday, I purchased two 3.4 oz. bottles of it. I'm very excited about it because, so far, it's one of my many favorite fragrances, and I'm also excited about it because I got both of those bottles at a very good price.
I have read at fragrantica about Les Neiredes Patchouli Antique that it's now a different fragrance, the real one is Patchouli Original by Honore Payan, the fragrance house that make Patchouli Antique for Les Neiredes. I tried Honore Payan PO vs Reminescence P, it's really similar to each other
I have Reminiscence Patchouli bottle with stars. And doesn’t have chocolate caky smell at all. I would say it is purely patchouli from the basement. Although I still like it
…wow, great interesting list Sebastian ! …i took-up your recommendation and bought Psychedelique last year…it is almost unctuous, the best ganache ever ! …the les Nereides looks tempting and the Reminiscence, because of its longer history, i almost feel obligated to add to the collection…
I have Laura Biagiotti's Roma Uomo Passione which leaves me smelling like dark chocolate. And Al Rehab's choco musk which leaves me smelling like white chocolate
Thank you Sebastian! Yummy video.speaking of patchouli i want to know more about a scent by krigler called heavenly patchouli.who is krigler? Why are they so high? Im interested.maybe a new video idea.thanks again.😉
Compare to other sweet gourmand fragrances bitter coco smell is much more tolerable than sweet bubblegum to me, sweet fragrances tends to gave me massice headache but not chocolate perfume like tom ford black orchid and angel muse they’re fine
Sebastian, hands down to your knowledge. If possible, please make a video of green patchouli frangrances that are according to you perfectly executed pieces of art. Thank you.
This topic makes me so hungry lol but love your take on it. Sebastian you also want to check out Christian provenzano patchouli noir also a great scent for that note
Psychedelique is delicious. Amber by Roja Dove would also fit the list as well as Maremma by Tiziana Terenzi Both are chocolate-y patchouli. How about the forever popular Black Orchid?
i would love to see you do a video on Floris as a fragrance house. It may be my favorite, so i am being a bit self-serving. but, i am sure others would enjoy it. ALSO!! have you smelled Devan from Aramis? i recently got it and I believe the top note smells JUST LIKE Sienna from crabtree & evelyn, which as been my favorite cologne of all time. thoughts, if any?
Quick question. Do you think sales reps are telling fibs about fragrances getting discontinued in order to get consumers to get backup bottles, drive up demand and to inflate pricing? Why on earth would jovoy discontinue pretty much their hottest selling fragrance (as mentioned elsewhere in these comments)?
I love the opening to Patchouli Leaves. It does go swwet bomb on me after that for sometime, then yup, leaves of others. Psychedelique is one of the best patchoulis. Best biker patchouli, Nobile 1942's Patchouli.
@@ThePerfumeGuy perhaps I missed your review or inclusion of it in your Patchouli reviews. Only recently. Thanks to your reviews have I desired a Patchouli forward fragrance. Once I opened that door I went straight for the big hitters: Classic Patchouli, Psychedliqe and others. So thanks for expanding my mind beyond "hippie stank" patchouli.
hi there how are you? I am texting from sardinia. I have patchouli antique les nereides eau the toilette, the one with the angels on the bottle. would you suggest me to buy jovoy psichedelique? are they very different or more or less the same? thank you
He and Dalya did a video with lists of different types of videos that listed green patchouli fragrances. I thought they did one together, but I can’t find it so maybe it’s the Mandela Effect! I was able to find this one where he separates the chocolate cakey patchouli from other interpretations: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-65upNiAjZvg.html
Dear Sebastian, I don't think you can find a better combination of Chocolate and Patchouli right up there with Rose and Oud. Jovoy Psychedelique just an absolute delight of a fragrance I don't think I have tried anything better thus far . Thanks a million
Wicked Good by Gallagher Fragrances is the most photo-realistic chocolate cake fragrance I've ever put my nose on. It's far closer to chocolate cake than Psychedelique is. It doesn't have the note of patchouli though.
Very strange, I picked up the latest version of Les Néréides Patchouli Antique a couple of weeks ago. It has the same bottle and package as the bottle in this video but the juice is the same colour as the Patchouli by Reminiscence.
Hugo boss the scent and the scent absolu. I don't own any of those two but i remember trying on a store and picking up traces of chocolate that I was certain is from the patchouli used. I already own psychedelic. So I don't find any reasonable motive for purchasing any other chocolate patchouli
I took Sebastian’s recommendation of Les Neredes Patchouli Antique and purchased it. It was weak, no smell, a big nothing after using Reminiscence Patchouli for years. NEVER AGAIN. Reminiscence Patchouli is fabulous.
