very good video. 2 tips. Use your computer but get a capture card and a hdmi adapter. Better for storage and no file transfers. tip 2, raise your light above your head and the rings won't reflect through your glasses. put a cheap led (dollar store) on your other side if you don't have enough light

Thank you so much for this video! I did my videos but my audio lagged and everything I did was backward. I am going to do it on my phone as I really need to get this done so I can start working when they hire me. Great tips! As an ESL teacher with glasses, may I suggest to you using lights that don't reflect your "lights" in your lenses. It took me a while to find the right ones. It took me 2 years but I finally found them! I watched a lot of videos on how to use lighting with glasses.

Wow, thank you! I learned A LOT with the intro video you shared. Now I know, not to record a video using one's computer. I'm 53, and not that computer savvy nor cellphone savvy, but, yes, I will do the extra mile :-) I'll update you as soon as I get hired *cross fingers* :-) Also, Teacher Daesha, could I use Zoom for a better bacjground? Any tips about that?

Hi Rose! I am so glad you found my video helpful. I'm sure the extra mile will be worth it :) I'm looking forward to hearing how things went. You can't use zoom to change your background while teaching with Cambly. I do believe you could use the desktop app Snap Camera.

@@Naomim19 1. Yes 2. When I record on my phone both my front and rear camera show what is written correctly. But just in case have you tried using the opposite camera? (Ex: if you recorded with the front camera try recording with your camera) I hope that helps 😀

Yours was the first video that came up for me, when I decided I’d like to try Cambly. I’ve barely started learning! I know this was 2 years ago, but your tips were so very helpful!! Thank you ! I'm so glad I could be of help. I don't think all the graphics are necessary enough to take a college class. However, I did make a video on how I did my editing and everything that I used. Hi Teacher Daesha. Thank you for the great tips, it really helped a lot. I just wanted to know-I did an application to Cambly a few months ago without a reply. I then redid my intro vids based off your tips on the same profile. Should I continue to wait for reply on new intro vids or start a new profile from scratch with different email? Have you ever heard of someone who did this and had their old profile approved?

Hi Benette! Great questions! Before losing hope on your original application, try reaching out to Cambly for an update following the instructions in this video: ru-vid.comc1_ACzeRgQ8 If they respond and say your application is rejected then you can move forward with a new email and application. Hope this helps!

Hi there Daesha, thanks so much for this video. really helpful! Question: When I actually do the application, do I do that on my laptop? like the part that is just filling in my info I mean. then when it's time to do the intro video part- I should previously record that on my phone with one of the software you suggested. So how do I get the previously recorded video from my phone to my computer to enter it into the application? I hope that question make sense (as you can tell, I'm not very techy, but I'm trying). Hi Erica, I will try to help as much as I can... I would personally recommend completing your profile and filling in your info on your laptop. To get your video from your phone to your laptop you would need to connect your phone to your laptop via usb (usually your phone's charging cable) , open your phone on the the computer, locate your video file, then upload it to your Cambly profile. So glad you plan to sign up! However, I must be realistic. I do not think Cambly will support you enough to travel the world. I think a realistic and optimistic earning potential is about $100 a week. Sorry.

Hi Anathi! Thanks for watching. You must submit your Intro video with your application. I did not have to do a demo lesson for my application. I was never required to do one. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help :(

Is it permissable to use a GREEN SCREEN in the introduction video or actual Cambly lessons? I believe that is what "sophisticatedbadgurl" is referring to when she asks about "virtual backgrounds." I hope it would be OK, since I could do a great job with a "green screen" for presenting images in the intro video as well as tutoring lessons..

Hi! Sorry for the late reply. I don't believe you will be able to see the get started button when trying to apply on your phone or mobile device. I would recommend applying on your computer or laptop so the connection can be tested as you mentioned. I hope this helps ☺

Great question! I don't believe it is listed as a requirement for the video. So it should not affect your chances. Although, I think it would be a good idea to mention Cambly if you can do so naturally.

I know that most people find my name difficult to pronounce. Do you think it's advisable to use a simpler nickname version instead (Teacher Kay maybe)?

Hi! People manage to mispronounce my name too 😅 Short Answer: It depends on what makes you comfortable. Longer answer/personal experience: At one point I shortened my teaching name to Teacher Dae but I ended up going back to Daesha. My students don't find it too difficult to say the few times they try to say it. I hope this helps😊

You’re welcome! Thank you so much for watching!! Yes you can teach with Cambly and Cambly Kids. You can do this by just leaving your schedule open to all reservations or you can open specific times for Cambly and specific times for Cambly Kids.

Hi! I apologize greatly for the delayed response. I think teaching adults is much easier to start with since most adults prefer to just have a conversation to practice their English. So if you're comfortable with striking up conversations with strangers, definitely adults. Even if you want to have an idea of what you will be discussing during your lesson then you can still send a message to your adult students before class. Plus you have to teach with regular Cambly before you teach with Cambly Kids. Hope this helps!

Hey Cindy! Unfortunately that does means that you have been rejected :( I would reapply after altering your application information. Try watching my latest video on what to do if rejected by Cambly. However, I will warn that it might still take a while for them to respond since they are having more and more applications now.

Hi Stephanie! I'm glad it was helpful. I would focus more so on the fact that you are TEFL trained and ready to teach. Also share any accomplishments you have achieved so far, they do not have to relate directly to teaching. I hope this helped!

It's a bit awkward for me to talk with people I know on a voice call. So, it was very nerve-wracking during my first video call with a stranger. Hi! I used the video editing software VSDC. However if you are using a mobile device to edit, I would recommend the apps CapCut (android/apple) or VN(apple).

I'm qualified accounting and economics teacher (high school level), i want to join Cambly, but I am worried about content, I do not know what I would have to teach, whether they'll be some sort of work to give out or something. Like what kind of work or things would I need to prepare before class. I really appreciate the this video, gave out a lot of tips that I might miss when i sign up.

Hi Thozama, you do not need to worry about content. In fact, I talk about things you can use for content in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7j7wSfY3ysA.html . For main Cambly classes most students would want casual conversation or you could use some of those suggestions I recommend in the video I shared. And with Cambly Kids classes al material is prepared. I hope this helps :)

You could mention how "...being a newly TEFL certified teacher means you are equipped with all the updated and current curriculum for English learning." Focus on what you have and highlight your strengths. Hope this helps!

Hi I hope you got hired at this point. But if you see ‘new talent’ written beneath your name, then it means that you are a new applicant at Cambly but are not necessarily accepted. You must receive an email regarding your acceptance of refusal at Cambly. Hope this helps!

Hi! Cambly does not mention anything about whether or not piercings are allowed. They mention they are 'diverse' and "casual" however to also be "professional." I don't think your appearance will effect your rating. I wish I could be of more help. Hi! I've was thinking of doing a video but I think telling you the steps would be better. To upload you need to connect your phone to your computer using your USB charging cable. Then access your video on your phone from your computer and you can upload it to your profile from there. I hope this helps 😁

Hi, according to the requirements you do need to have English as your first language. However, I do believe some tutors have been accepted on the platform with native-level English skills and not being actual native speakers. I will ask around to make sure. I hope this helps 😃
