even when they do side by side out bush they often didn't show how good the Amarok's are at climbing hills and how advanced the anti slip works even with wheels up in the air.. you really only need the rear diff locked if you're in soft mud and can't afford any wheel slip digging into the ground.. Yes they dont have LOW range or a locking centre diff with the auto but will go 99% of the distance but in some cases excel because the drive-train while turning isnt binding and digging itself into the mud or sand.

They tune them in the limits of the vehicle as they do a pre tune inspection and do a lot of research before they Dino them

Throttle controllers do nothing for power they only control the throttle making the throttle more or less sensitive depending on the setting you put it on. Making it feel more sensitive because its taking some of the lag out of the throttle

@@Callum0717 Haha!! Ok, might not be a power mod. But still an awesome MOD. Best bang for buck. Or you can spend a few thousand for an exhaust and dyno tune upgrade like I did. I wish I installed the throttle controller first, before I spent all that money.

@@jaredtansley3236 a throttle controller & a custom dyno tune are like chalk & cheese. One gives you much more power & torque, the other one doesn't. Throttle controllers can be useful for slow 4x4 work though.

@@UltimateDieselTuning Yes I totally agree with you, and you have the money, definitely a dyno tune. For a cheap quick 2min mod, Throttle Controller. Or do both, like me and thousands of others, Dyno Tune and a throttle controller, complement eachother very well.

@@jaredtansley3236 if you have had a great tune you should have got at least a 40% gain in downlow torque, depending on which vehicle you have. So you won't need a throttle controller for "more" take off.

Yes pretty much mate. We improve on the manufactuer's tune. There are quite a few things that you should ask tuners - 1. Do they tune every vehicle separately? 2. Do they have a dyno? 3. They should also ask you what you use your car for & ask you what your goals are with the tune. There are lots of places out there that will just simply load a tune file into your ECU & call that a "tune", which is not the case, so be careful. Depending on which area you are from - we have several agents around Australia so we could help you out there.

Make sure you choose a reputable tuner who writes his own files & has a dyno. THis is crucial! We have a video on our RU-vid Channel about our method of custom dyno tuning that you may want to check out.

I ended up spinning a bearing on a MN triton that I owned since new & had custom dyno tuned by UDT. Wouldn’t say it was the fault of the tuner, but I definitely believe that getting it tuned resulted in the engine failing a lot sooner than expected. 115k’s isn’t even run in.

Id suggest nissan cracked the shits with them after the dual cab shoot out videos. And has said no more to allowing the vehicles to be reviewed or tested. Could be wrong but thats generally how car manufactuers work lol.

@@JamesG89 main thing I’ve seen is the lack of airbags for the rear seats. Also from memory their alternator is in the bottom of the engine bay meaning mud/water will do more damage to it over time if that’s your thint

We couldn't feature every ute mate! We custom dyno tune a lot of the NP300s as well. They make, on average, around the 30% gains mark with the twin-turbo engine and a bit less with the single turbo engine.

We have never had any driveline issues, other than factory clutches. The drivelines in the vehicles are all strong & can easily handle the extra torque.

79's - buy for $80,000, spend another $80,000+ to turn it into something half decent.

The Navara is sound. Nissan and 24/7 action have had some falling outs so I wouldn't expect much at the moment.

That so ture. New cars can't do much till it at warranty. Less people don't care about money. A turnner don't take no responsibility and dealer say u loss warranty as u got it turned. . Then u out money try to fix it .

We have tuned over 15,000 cars with zero issues with drivetrains that we know of.

Colin, you talking rubbish. My 79 2018 has done already 60000km towing 3t trailer with factory clutch, it's how you drive. I do admit the clutch slipped in the beginning but it's not too bad now. That means your statement is baseless. I have already new heavy duty clutch ready to swap but I will wait till this one goes.

He did say in the video that the 79 would need a clutch...

Nissan is being childish refusing to let them use their cars because they didn't give the Nav a glowing review. It's great that they don't have the Nav now. Shows which companies are happy to back their products against a review that wasn't pre-determined. Very much sick of all these car magazine mobs "reviewing" cars and giving them all gold stars to keep the manufacturers happy. It completely destroys the point of a review. If a manufacturer doesn't want to give a product to a reviewer who wont agree to only be positive, then the manufacturer knows they have made a sub par product.

With the extra power & torque that we will achieve with a custom dyno tune, you will not have to apply the throttle as much anymore in order to get your vehicle to move as much as you did prior to the tune. It will be able to be driven with less throttle & less RPM in the driving cycle to achieve the same result (because torque will be now produced earlier in the RPM range due to the tune). So, for example, you may have been driving it at 100% throttle pressure (foot to the floor) to get it to go up hill properly when towing, but now (after we've tuned it) you will only need 50% throttle pressure to get up the hill - and the vehicle should also stay in the higher gear too instead of kicking down. Therefore, the less pressure on the throttle; the longer it'll stay in a higher gear & the less the engine will now rev; therefore less fuel will be injected into the engine & consumed to achieve the same result of getting up the hill, prior to the tune. Less engine revs due to the extra power from the tune (higher gear, less effort to tow a caravan etc.), uses less fuel. This also happens without towing too, same thing.

@@UltimateDieselTuning so does this include any remapping of the ECU and the transmission parameters to make use of these lower RPM - I guess it does, otherwise there would be some interesting power to torque relationships moving through the automatic transmissions and a subsequent increase in temperatures in the transmission. I could see a lot of possible drive train failures if there is too much heat buildup - particularly when towing. Is your remapping conservative to minimise this heat? Or have you managed to remap without the need for additional heat management architect? I saw a BT50 in Hedland that blew his remapped motor towing a caravan because of the strain that it had to endure and the driver not paying enough attention. There is quite a lot of data being exchanged. I guess your biggest problem would be retraining the driver to listen to the motor and feel the feedback the vehicle provides once the new parameters are introduced. Thanks for the brief synopsis you presented in your item.

@@xoncention3265 we remap Toyota trans ECUs, yes. And always recommend fitment of a transmission oil cooler if the vehicle tows a decent caravan regularly

Throttle controllers do nothing for engine performance, they just change the input signal for a given throttle position, it’s a placebo effect. Example, 10% throttle position may send 30% input to ecu, another setting may send 40% with different response curve. Air/fuel mix ratios and timing remain unchanged

You can get a great gains from a Unichip custom dyno tune. Got one in my 05 Prado

Yes you can - we see around a 30-35% increase in power & torque with the MQ or MR Tritons. Prices do vary, but budget around the $1500 mark for a full custom dyno tune that has been done properly - taking into consideration the age of your engine, the k's on your engine, what you use your vehicle for & what your goals are with the tune.

No not really Alex. Fuel usage is generally better, not worse. And yes, with the way that we custom dyno tune each vehicle, the driving experience definitely is a lot better than factory.

Warranty is fine - they cannot void it due to a custom dyno tune having been carried out. Most of the vehicles that we tune here are all under warranty with no issues.

The 2L engines are unable to be remapped without the fitment of a piggy-back ECU. And yes, they are "tuned to the hilt" from factory - they only make around a 15-20% gain in power & torque once the piggy-back is custom tuned.
