There was a More Make a Mix cookbook as well. They have been my guide books for over 45 years. My Mom surprised me with a new version published in 2006 after seeing how worn the others were. These mixes streamline cooking & baking as well as help avoid all the additives in our food.
Yup I have MoreMakeAMix too lol I’m all about bulk food prep. Freezers are a real godsend that ppl don’t utilize to their potential. I have several Freezer Meals bks too. The 90s were great for practical help.
I am so happy I came across your channel. I’ve been spending so much money on these grocery items and I think I’m about to see a huge difference in my grocery bill with everything you’re sharing ❤THANK YOU!
Wonderful mixes and I am so thankful that you take the time to write the recipes in the description. You don't know how many times I've been out of sweetened condensed milk I needed for a recipe and now I see I had all of the ingredients needed to make my own. I am thrilled to get this! New subscriber here. Thanks again.
You can grind any grain and make hot cereal with it. Any rolled or flaked grain will work in food processor. For non-rolled grains use a coffeemill (blender MAY work, the VitaMix ones do for sure): Kasha (cracked toasted buckwheat) or rice, both for gluten-free (I love brown rice for cream of rice) Wheat for farina or cream of wheat - use bulgur wheat (it’s cracked wheat) Barley - use cracked barley if u can find it Instant grits can be made from grits (they’re cracked corn). We love the yellow stone milled grits. These might still need 5 min to cook. Corn is long cooking!
Thanks for the recipes. You remind me of my mother. She would get up about 4:30 to make Dads breakfast and lunch and then putter around the kitchen in her pyjamas until us kids got up for school.
Im drinking my coffee, sweetened with condensed milk! I get mine from the dollar tree but i make everything from scratch. One more recipe to add to my repertoire!
Is there anything you DONT know? I'm blown away! I've never used condensed milk except for occasionally in baking BUT we just stopped buying my husband's powdered or liquid creamer because of the poison they pass off for ingredients. 😅 He's going to be so happy that I found you! Oh and I've commented before but I need to say again... the seasonings and original recipes you make up, tell me that you 💯 % know what you're doing! I feel like I can follow your recipes with confidence and wouldn't need to change it up for taste! Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with us!
Thank you so much! I wish I new everything... That would be awesome! lol I am so happy that these recipes are helping you and others, as they help Us. We all need a little help these days for sure. Thank you for visiting! Have a wonderful day!
I liked your video. It's the first one I saw of yours and I will probably make all of the mixes, especially the granola. I like my granola crispy and chunky like you do, but haven't found a good recipe until now. THANK YOU!!! I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Am making that bread when I can buy cheese & beef bacon! Will try it with white onions, big bag here as we buy in bulk when we can. Will try 100% whole-wheat fresh ground flour. Soooo delish. I can’t knead so I’m excited about ur loaf. Might not be able to even move dough enough, my arm n shoulder nerves are injured. But I will attempt!
thank you so much for your video's they are very helpful! I'm so glad i stubbled across your videos they have helped me a lot and im finding I am going outside my comfort zone with some of your video's to help guide me because I was unsure how to do it long and short keep up the work hope to continue to learn lots from you!
Thank you I just love all your ideas. Made the coffee creamer it was delicious. So simple and didn’t have all those extra ingredients like store bought. I will try spices and cake mixes next.
Pantry cabinets still looking great! Since I found that bread recipe, and the canning book. I've been working on a list of things I plan to start making myself. Can't wait to get further along on the journey 😁.
L❤ve your channel... even so, I cant eat any of what you prepare, it still is most interesting and some dishes I can make for others. PS. I dont do well with wheat and processed foods, makes me feel ill. I apreciate you sharing with us.
I add 1/2c dried fruit (raisins, cranberry, fig pieces) to my granola. And 1 tsp vanilla. Altho dried blueberries tastes great with lemon extract, no pb, add 2T butter. Dried Cherries taste great w/almond extract.
another great video...i'm sure you already know that you can make sugar into powdered sugar by blending it...i use a coffee grider made to spices only... i'm going to try and make the coffee creamer. That grilled cheese is to die for! Watching your vids are a bit overwhelming ... would you consider doing 1-2 recipes per video .... start to finish like you do on some of these...I think your viewership will sky rocket. Plus people love to see the finished results.
Thank you 😊 I have to be more mindful of where things go, but I am much happier with the way it looks so I make the effort of not tossing things in there anymore. Lol
Instead of honey or maple syrup you can make a simple syrup (sugar syrup) as honey is pricey & syrup is phenomenally priced. Unless it’s rly raw, 100% unheated, you’re buying honey from ppl who feed their bees corn syrup. So it’s honey flavored corn syrup. Just use sugar. No health benefits at all in that fake honey. Simple syrup is 1 cup sugar in 1 cup water. (1:1 ratio) then simmer till sugar dissolved. Brown sugar works too. I would use brown sugar for granola. You still need the extra water for the pb to dissolve in too!
Sesame seeds are mandatory for my granola. I would use 1T for this recipe, I don’t count it twd the nuts & seeds. And shredded unsweetened coconut. I count the coconut as part of the nuts. To reduce cost u can use 1 1/2 cup rice krispies for 1 cup of the nuts so just 1 cup total nuts/seeds then Aldi’s brand is fine My kids eat rice krispies so the leftover isn’t wasted. Plus I make a double batch as 4c oats’ worth doesnt last here lol Granola should keep a month
I would add 2T rm temp butter once honey is also melted into water Fat helps slow down carb absorption 1T=3t FYI for future recipes You can bake it 300 for 15 minutes and turn and repeat that twice to not have your oven on as long Ur posted recipe says 2t salt instead of 1. Ur recipe is missing the 2 cups of nuts/seeds You can spread out the granola in a roasting pan and flip it after 15 minutes at 300°. Repeat twice. This will save a bit on oven time and give u more crispiness. The deep pan makes it’s easier too.

Some great mixes!! I do the 10 C oats with 4 C ground & thats all I do for my shelf. Then I add my dried fruit & microwave my oatmeal, then add evaporated milk because that's how I like it. So handy & way more budget friendly than those little packs. Newly subscribed
Great video! Love the recipes! I was just wondering... I saw a Yorktown container when you were making the cake mix and granola. Do you have the whole set? I love my Yorktown dishes! My Mom had the Desert Rose set.
I am having problems with my flour and baking soda sealing. It seals and then unseals within an hour or so. What am I doing wrong? I love all you ideas and am making my own coffee creamer now. It is tons cheaper. Thanks
In my experience that will happen if there is a crack in the jar, not sealed long enough, or there was flour on the lid or rim of jar. Even a tiny crack that took me forever to find on my jar affected my seal. Hope this helps.
First time viewer because you popped up on my home feed. I’m curious, do you just put the sweetened condensed milk in your coffee like creamer? I don’t drink coffee but I’m still curious. Also, I’m not going to lie, I was shocked when you pulled out store bought shredded cheese! I only get block cheese and shred it myself, cheaper and healthier. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not judging, I was just surprised. Since I am all about making everything I can from scratch for savings and health reasons, I’m going to check out a few of your videos.
Thanks for the tip! I mix my condensed milk with equal amounts of half & half or heavy whipping cream to make my coffee creamer. I did make a short video on it to show how easy it is.
@@richmondsplace thanks for the reply! I went and subscribed because I like your content, but more so, because you interact with your subscribers 😊. Make it a great day!
Thank you so much. I'm from germany, often can't find the original ingredients in our supermarkets. To make my own chicken cream soup is a solution, because this product is not available. Best wishes and greetings
Mmmm! Mmmm! For your bread recipe, do you have to have a Dutch oven? Could I just use a cast iron skillet with tin foil on top? Not right, just tented?
I’m not sure if that would work? I have only tried this in a oven safe pot with a lid. It is the intense enclosed heat that gives this bread it’s spring.
For the cheesy bread there is no mention of flour or yeast in the recipe? Have you double checked all these recipes? Could you also be sure to turn on the CC on your end? Thanks!
Here is my no-fail recipe for sweetened condensed milk. Hope someone finds it helpful: Sweetened Condensed Milk 1 cup instant nonfat dry milk powder 2/3 cup granulated sugar 1/3 to 1/2 cup boiling water 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend on medium speed until completely mixed. Scrape down the sides of the blender and blend again. Put the finished milk into a container that has an airtight lid and store in the refrigerator until use. This makes the equivalent of one small can of sweetened condensed milk. It thickens after it is refrigerated.
I make a "cream of anything: soup mix, but am curious how you use it in casseroles. I always made the soup and then added it but am wondering if I can just add it dry and add the appropriate amount t of liquid. It's only 2 of us so I don't fix many casseroles anymore and it's hard to experiment.
Using milk powder to make sweetened condensed milk is a stroke of genius! just be aware that powdered sugar has corn starch in it. honestly, that might be a good thing to make it a little thicker, so do with that what you will.
Question for the vanilla cake recipe…is that cups of water and you said 1 tsp salt in video but not in printed recipe. I cannot wait to try these recipes…thank you so much😊
