I am a Norwegian living in Denmark for the last 15 years, and I recognize all of the things you mention. I dont know if Danish people are more efficient than the rest of the worlds population, but I have met several of them that fit that description. One thing I noticed, is that Danes are really good when it comes to invent something that makes life a little easier. Many great inventions originates from Denmark. I'll leave it up to you guys to find all of them.

It´s a part of an old conflict between France and England. France, England Sweden and Denmark have a sheered world record in wars against our closest neighbor. Depending on how a war is defined historians are not sure who is the recordholder.

It has nothing to do with "willingness". It's just that a lot of French people cannot speak English. It's as simple as that. It's just like in Japan.

Funny thing: Birds usually get used to those kites and don't care. But if you put rubber snakes from the toy store on the roof and move them randomally from time to time, most birds keep away. Thanks for a great video!

Your videos are really interesting and as a German, I have noticed all the similarities to our neighbour denmark :) Funny how France is so different but almost all of the things you mentioned are the same for us, in between your two countries. Makes me want to visit Denmark some time, it seems like a lovely country with a familiar culture and a super fascinating language, especially when you look at the similarities to our northern dialects and minority languages which sound almost the same sometimes 🧡

Most places in Denmark the tapwater will be better than anything bought in a bottle! Some places it has a lot of chalk (hard) which means it is advisable to put softener in during washing in a machine, for less use of soap. In nearby Norway you may be nearly unable to wash off soap during a bath, from the very soft water.

The conveyers (rullebånd), in Danish stores , are superior to what You find in the German markets( Liddl,Rema etc) , because they continue , after the "kassedame", so there is room for most of the shopping, and more easy to pay and putting your groceries in the bags afterwards:)

To many foreigners it's surprising that you have to bag your stuff yourself. Anyway the split end conveyor belts have existed as long as I can remember. One oddity was when Aldi first got to Denmark, and there was no end at all, they basically expected you to park the shopping cart at the end and let stuff fall back into the cart after being scanned... Doesn't work so well with eggs, and I believe Aldi realized that not everyone buys so much that a whole cart makes sense... So all I see now are the split ends again.
@ITubeTooInc
@ITubeTooInc 2 года назад
Aldi has even started to chaange to the Danish style in new Danish stores. Before Aldi and Lidl have only been using the German style even in their Danish supermarkets, but Danes hate them and for very good reason. They are so impratical. They have them in many other countries too and then they often have aa long table at the end table where you can move your groves to to pack them without getting too stressed. But the Danish style just makes so much more sense.

Hehe that was fun to hear .. 😊 I don't know if there is such a saying in Denmark (I'll try to translate) "in dire need a naked woman learns to sow" meaning something in the lines of that one learns to invent when needed. For the ticketing system (2). Some shops (normally the chain stores, føtex, bilka etc.) use the data as a metric for how a bakershop is doing in the store. Does it preform well, does it have to be bigger/smaller within the store. Pharmacy not so much, mostly it for the line or for a prescription to be filled.

Here's a good trick for the bakery. When you order, know how many pieces of bread you want and tell them that, that way they know how big the bag is going to be. So you start off with saying I need 7 pieces and then you order the different pieces you want.

Where do you live and where do you come from?! In cph we used to descale our kettle every week and the water tastes pretty bad if you don't let it sit. In Paris we have tiled bathrooms, flat showers with drains and anyone having a shower with glass has a raclette to not have to descale their shower every day. Automatic lawn mowers are quite common in France nowadays. I miss the widely spread mobile pay though but definitely not miss having to buy food in supermakets.

Ah the tap water... I've been to Japan once, but despite the signs saying that it was safe, I didn't dare to try. I've heard once that we try to keep the tap water below 12C in DK because otherwise the risk of bacteria growing in the system is too high. But there was no actual side taste when I used it for brushing teeth. I don't know if I was just unlucky, NYC water is also supposed to be drinkable, but at the hotels I've visited there was most often that swimming pool smell, and one place the water even smelled like diesel or other fuel... Not exactly the best cup of instant coffee I've ever had. Anyway and in the end, there's already a big difference in the taste of water at different places inside Denmark. I grew up in the middle of Jutland, not far from where most bottled water in Denmark is tapped, so I'm maybe just picky, but CPH area water is OK, but not top notch. And in CPH area we have a crazy battle with calcium... Lost count of how many electric kettles we've been through since 2012, while in Jutland I'd lose count of how many years I had had a kettle.

The "scarecrows" on top of large buildings resembles birds of prey (eagles or hawks) It will keep many birds away from that building (ravens and others in that family are a bit too clever for them though!) Reason being that large buildings usually have large windows sections as well, especially supermarkets or car dealers for example. Birds used to fly into those windows and kill themselves. So it is more for the birds than for us humans, we have those installed.

IMPORTANT : about the bicycles. If you decide to get one, they are NOT as stable to drive as they seem, they can fall over. Practice riding them WITHOUT your kids in them first, and turn carefully around corners. When you have practiced without anyone in it, then try with an adult in the box. Then with your kids when you know instinctively NOT to stand up to pedal or turn quickly around corners 😅. You will crash like that and it is a heavy bike, so practice with it first. Please comment or like this comment, so it comes up top, so others see it and don’t get hurt by ignorance 😅

But my kids will.⁣ 👶⁣ ⁣ And I look at 𝗡𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗺 and think 'I could never do that; I'm not that kind of a person. I don't have the energy or ability. And besides she arrived here as a kid'. And that's all true.⁣ ⁣ I guess it's a personal thing really, and me, I'd leave it to the kids.⁣ ⁣ I'm from the South of Jutland (Als) and though living in Copenhagen for a long time I never learned the dialect.⁣ ⁣ Now I'm living in Mid Jutland where folks don't seem to have a dialect. They don't even say "𝘥𝘦𝘵 æ 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘬 𝘵𝘳æ𝘭𝘴", which was disappointing. 😒⁣🙂⁣ ⁣ What I'm saying is: Being a 1st generation immigrant can be hard, but do it for the kids. The 2nd generation will make it.

Danes are lazy, and this is why we have invented so many things to make life easier. Work smart, not hard. I am a Dane myself, and I actually never saw one of those crow kites, they must be pretty new. I am quite sure, though, that the main reason for having such kites is to prevent small birds from killing themselves by flying into the big glass windows.

It is funny to see that alot of foreigners love Denmark, and alot of danes run away from the country

LOL! You keep calling your Boyfriend "My Partner" - Why ? I think there called Cargo bikes in English, and they are really smart. You can even get them in an E-version 👍. Mobilepay rules 😀 and it works in both the US and Europe. Conveyor Belt - really? The Country that has given so much to the World..., doesn't know the concept of a Conveyor Belt? Come on Margaux. Your "pulling our legs" 😉 ! Hope you all are doing well in Odense 😊 ? As always a good post! The one about "conveyor belts" blew my mind 😲😲 ! I mean. You can build the Eiffel Tower and The Statue of Liberty....., ???

"Ladcykler" (Cargo bikes 😀 ). The trolley lift in supermarkets is far from everywhere :-( ! I hear that "MENU" has them in some of there shops. The robot lawn mover is just next step, after the robot vacuum cleaner ;-). And Yeah! Your partner is right!! The "Crow/Hawk kite" is all about keeping birds from sitting on our balcony's or "Sh...ing" on them. Apart from that, pigeons are really LOUD :-( ! Basically because there calling out for there mate, about finding a new home 😔 So here's a "fun fact". Pigeons will return to the balcony (if any), they were hatched. They will only build a nest in a corner of a balcony. If you deny them a corner, they will eventually not return. I use a peace of "French technology" and it has worked for me 👍😀👍. Four emptied bottles (one in each corner) of French Wine, filled with water (for weight). Haven't been disturbed by pigeons for years ;-) ! I often work nights and sleep in the day. Yeah. You can put up "pigeon spikes", but there ugly and you risk hurting yourself. There may be a bit of pigeon shit on your railing, but the rest of your balcony should me more or less safe.

You make France, or the place you lived sound like a cave. Apart from cargo bikes, a norm in Netherlands and Denmark, I sincerely don't know where you lived in France not to see this ever. And tap water in France having an aftertaste, cmon.

@@AFrenchWomanLivingInDenmark By what you said, you lived there in a catacombs or locked out basement out of touch with real world. If you did indeed lived in Paris, then 95% of you are saying about France and Paris especially is an outrageous lie. Everything you said that was different in Denmark except cargobike is a lie. I will not even touch on your lack of compassion towards the elderly people. You are a disgusting individual and for that I am unsubscribing. Lies and smearing of France I don't need to listen to.
