This literally makes me so beyond happy! Black cat holistic rescue is one of my favorite rescues ever and the fact that you’re promoting them on your channel is so amazing!❤
Ever since I was a very little girl, my dream cat was solid black with avocado green eyes. I grew up with a wonderful, amazing black spaniel type dog for almost 18 years, but wasn't allowed to have a cat. Then, many years later, one hot August night, I was walking my current dog, when I heard the most pitiful mewing. I put Katie, my dog back in the apartment, grabbed a flashlight, thinking a kitten must be stuck up a tree. Nope, a young black cat was at my upstairs neighbor's door, crying his heart out. I said: "What's the matter baby, won't they let you in?" Next thing I know, a blur of cat runs down the balcony, down the stairs, and launches himself into my arms, snuggles in, and starts purring like a motor boat! Surprise! My heart melted completely, my brain said you can't have a cat, you already have a dog and a cockatiel! So, that night I fixed him a bed in a box with cat food I had on hand for the cat at work, and some cool water under the stairs near my apartment. That had to do for then, but not forever, since you don't look a cat you had wanted for 45 years, in the face and say no...I did some inquiring to make sure he didn't belong to someone. Turned out the poor guy had been kicked out of a car on the opposite side of the complex 3 weeks before. He had been searching for just that special new Momma at every single door, receiving food and water along the way, until that truly magical moment when we came together. I considered him an incredibly special gift from God, one I had been waiting so many years for! He met my car after work the next day, and he became my sweetest little boy, sleeping in my lap most of the evening, purring contently. I tried many different names, but when I said "Salem" he looked at me and smiled! 😮😊❤ Next day, while he got checked over at my vet's office, they found out he had already been neutered, blood tests were all fine, updated his vaccines, Revolution drops, etc. and I got cat supplies, toys, and stuff- I gleefully gave myself a "kitten shower!" We got to spend 13 glorious but way too short years together. He, my dog, and cockatiel were all good friends- no worries there! My green-eyed, short-haired, solid black cat 🐈⬛️, turned out to be the sweetest, most caring, loving cat that ever was made, he never, ever scratched me or gave "love bites." He slept close every night. I guess the most magical gift he still gives me even 10 years after his passing, is that he will visit me in the night to bring me love and comfort, especially when I need it. I know that people who know black cats know they can do this when they really love you ❤. The visits are not as common as they were at first, but I can see, hear, and feel him- it gives me joy and I have no doubt at all who will be jumping in my arms, purring like a motor boat when I finally join my human and animal family in Heaven! God bless you and yours!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ P.S. the illustrated children's book about Salem's Adventures will eventually be appearing everywhere they sell books 📚 LOL someday!!!
I've owned five black cats. All of them were real charmers. They were my favorite cats and I miss them. My English grandmother once told me, "Black cats don't steal souls -- they steal hearts." How true that is! Many thanks, for this informative and fun video. 🐈⬛❤🐈⬛❤🐈⬛❤🐈⬛❤🐈⬛❤
@@jccote6059 Many thanks. My gran's black cats did a great job of keeping mice and rats away from the grain at their farm. Her long-haired tabby ("Georgie") was a champion "mouser." Georgie lived a long time. I think I'll compose a story about my grandmother's cats. Stay safe and well. God keep you and the kitties. Cheers -- W
@@walterfechter8080omg I love that saying!! I LOVE those little voids that due to being voids succeed more in tripping humans in the dark. No seriously my fav cat was a lil black one, he was the sweetest kitty to me. He didn't like anyone else sadly... he seemed to have survived abuse and abandonment as a kitten so I can get the not being very trusting.
I adopted a black cat four years ago and my grandma, who is now 99, started telling me all about the black cats she used to have and how they were the most promiscuous 🤣🤣 I have no idea where she got that, but she had me rolling.
@@errantwinds-up8uu I had to laugh at what your grandma said about black cats being "the most promiscuous." All cats have their little "quirks" as we humans do. I don't know about my black cats being "promiscuous," but they certainly were mischievous, sweet and charming. In Scotland, a tradition was that a newly married husband gave his new wife a black cat for good luck. All of my grandmother's black cats brought her good luck. Strangely enough, my gran's black cats knew when German bombers were approaching London even before the air raid sirens started. Shortly after The Blitz began, my grandmother moved from London to Bromley (Kent) with all her belongings (including her cats). My gran and her cats were relatively safe there. Cats: it seems; have a sixth sense that is akin to the supernatural. With care. Cheers -- W
When my mom and I went to a shelter a few years ago we were looking for a young kitten to adopt, and there was this 8 year old black kitty named Charlie who looked sad and wasn't interacting with anybody. We found out he had been at the shelter the longest and no one wanted him, so we got him and he is the happiest boy. His previous owners abandoned him so he has separation anxiety so I'm basically his emotional support human. We also ended up adopting a tuxedo kitten with ADHD to keep him company so he isn't as anxious anymore. They're both the best kitties ever.
I've had dozens of cat throughout my life (I'm old, lol) sometimes just one and at one point 9 cats. I have had 7 black cats and they were & are (I have 1 now) very sweet and lovable kitties. Loved them all. My big boy O.B. is the one that I have now with 5 other color rescue cats. He gets along with them all.
My babies were 8 wks old when they were on the euthanization list for being the only black kittens in the litter. Today, they are 10yrs old, extremely charming, loving, and playful. I couldn't imagine life without them. ❤
I am a vet tech and my black cat Fred (Freddie Cougar) lived in our hospital as an adoptable kitten from October until February with NO adoption applications submitted. He came home with me after being RETURNED by another staff member and he is the most affectionate pet I have ever had in my life.
In the UK & especially Scotland having a black cat is believed to bring blessings your way. I suppose because of others rejecting them (in some cultures) and one being kind & welcoming them Home.
I found my black cat in the woods. Someone dumped her. She jumped into my arms and I carried her home and kept her and she is such a love bug! I can’t believe anyone would dump a cat that is filled with nothing but love.
How do you know someone threw her out and instead, that she ran away on her own accord. What do you think it’s just speculation. If you ever lose that cat, then you know that the reason you found her in the first place was because she was lost on her own accord. If she dies with you, then it means someone threw her out. Until that day, you will never know the truth.
@@rob_7775 calm down. I know. They threw her out and her kitten who was stuck in a tree. You have to know where and how I found them but I promise you, someone dumped her. …but maybe you know everything. 🙄
2 months ago, a little black kitten hid inside the hood of my car during a bad rainstorm. He's now on my lap purring. He's the luckiest thing that's ever happened to me. Black cats are precious creatures just as deserving of love as any other. 🖤🐈⬛
Thanks for loving your little black boy. I adopted a little black girl during Covid. I was feeling so lonely and isolated. Since then my little Bella has changed my life too. We sure do love each other.
The day we lost our dear orange tabby Garfield, we met a little black kitten who had stowaway in a big truck engine and was found at a repair shop. His name was Diesel. He is in the middle of my late mother's peace lily right now. 😄 He is also a great lap companion 😊
I am 62 years old and have had cats all my life. My black cat Trinity is my 1st black cat. She is, without a doubt, the most loving, sweet, best cat I have ever had. She is 12 years old now and I can NOT imagine my life without her.
I said the same about my cat who passed last 12/26. I was absolutely crushed, but it gets better, slowly. I want another cat, but I'm still not ready. I have a picture of my Cookie that I talk to every day.
@@jcepri Jeff I"ve found that the only thing that eases the pain of loss, is to take in another (better another 2). No one may ever live up to the cat you lost, but they need you nonetheless. My condolences on your loss. That is the hard part.
My black cat has saved my life. I’ve had a very hard year and there have been many times when he’s the only thing stopping me from going to really dark places. He’s my sun and stars.
I hope things are better for you. I suffer pain and depression and my black cats heal me in a similar way. I wish you the very best and hope your future is bright ❤
I know that feeling.. I ended up divorced after 28yrs married, and 5 months later my mom passed away,Drake(my profile pic) has been my complete comfort and companion through this.. I forever grateful to him for this.. he's a wonderful ❤️ loving boy 😊🌹
I will adopt a black cat in a second. Coworker called me saying her mom found a young cat and asked if I would take her in. I already have 4 cats and a big dog. I said, "It's not black is it?" She said, "Yes." My response. "I'll be there in 5 minutes." She is the sweetest and quirky cat I have. Even gets along with the dog and is obsessed with the bathroom tub.
Mine too did get along with dogs and other cats. He found friends everwhere and also brought them home. He loved water and i had to keep his water bowl in the bathtub because he splashed water everywhere. There was never any problem to travel with him by car or plane. As long as we were together everything was fine.
Do you have any issues with them hanging enough space/being territorial? We have two cats and are thinking about getting a third, but our house is 1300 sq ft.
@@cowsonzambonis6 They fight every once in a while but oddly enough the dog breaks them up. I have two calico sisters who hate each other. One stays upstairs and the other in the basement. both are going on 18. Once in a while they meet in the middle, but it's never been bad enough to have to separate them. The new one took a few days to adjust but she's the youngest. The others are all over 16 years old.
Black cats are said to be generally more affectionate. I think there's truth to that due to crossbreeding, and generally the cats that are crossbred are the ones that like humans more.
I have a senior black cat! He’s smart, chatty, loves walks, and is my best friend! He’s going thru diabetes right now and is doing well with 2 insuline shots a day. He has medium length hair and also loves the water, loves getting a bath and blow dry. He’s the best!
After losing my 18 year "old lady baby," Kitiara in 2020, I went to the shelter to adopt the oldest cat there so I could give her the best senior years in honor of Kitiara. I was introduced to a 12ish year old black cat who had been there for nearly a year. She started purring as soon as I held her. I named her Nyxie and we've been best friends ever since.
Thank you all so much! She's lying beside me on her heating pad (very low heat and only when someone is home) while I watch RU-vid videos. She's not spoiled, just blessed. 😹
They are not so regal when playing and they floof up and do the halloween-cat-pose. 😂 so fierce, always scares me! (Oddly enough I've only met one cat who did this while playing, and he was black.)
Our black cat was a kitten rescue. Someone abandoned him a week after Halloween at a nearby cemetery. The vet said he was only two months old. He is so sweet, we named him Devotion and he will soon be three years old now.
I couldn't believe this happened just 2 weeks ago! My boyfriend and I had been feeding 2 black kittens we found under his shed. After about a week, here comes the Mama (Grey striped tabby) with the 2 black kittens! They walked into the house and stayed!! We didn't count on having 3 cats but they are wonderful!! I've never had a black cat! These kittens are SO smart, fun and we love them all!!
From my experience the Color of kittens is determined by the males the female breeds with, and yes a litter may contain kittens from different males. We had a black cat that we adored she had 3 litters in her lifetime and only had 1 black kitten a female in her last litter that we kept, had her spayed she lived 17 years and was so smart an amazing cat.
Get Mama fixed, quick, or you'll have a few or maybe a lot more kittens. My Mama showed up with two kittens and before we knew, she chased them away one morning and got pregnant that afternoon. Three Tom's gave us five little fur balls, including two all black toms loaded with cattitude, just like their daddy. 🐈
I had a black cat and I was her only human. 9 pounds of pure fury. Her mom was a black domestic shorthair and her father was a feral black Persian mix. Never backed down to anything. Lived to be 22, traveled the US, lived in Germany for 15 months, Colorado, Texas, Florida and Wyoming. My son got a cat that looked just like her with an even worse attitude. She loved him and bit everyone else. I love black cats just for their spiciness.
My guy is named Spike, and we like to say he has spikeattude. We live in Alaska, and at a year and a half we watched him chase a moose out of the yard. In later years we caught him stalking a fox, I hate to think what his plan was.
My black cat 🐈⬛ was stalking a full grown bald eagle. Thankfully it flew off with something twice the size of him before he got to him. He was my cat until my son was born.
We were looking for a dog, but when we passed a cage with various coloured sleeping kittens, the only pure black kitten jumped up and clung to the bars and kept yelling ‘me, me, me’. I was told NO by my husband and the person behind the desk. Tears do work. He was so tiny. He died of old age with us and was part of our family.
I owned s black cat and we called him the monk of our house. He taught my entire family the true meaning of life and selfless love. On today's day 25th Oct 2022 it took its last breath and died when my entire family was together with him. We love him so much and miss him so much. I have tears gush down my eyes when I'm writing this. Thank you for posting this today, I was feeling empty the whole day but your video came as a blessing ❤
My black male kitty has the most unique personality I've ever seen in a cat - not shy, super vocal & demanding, trainable (thanks to his extreme treat motivation), and also very sweet and cuddly, when he wants to be. And he's very much a follower, always needs to be right there next to us, and sleeps with us every night. He converted my originally "dog-person-only" wife into a full-blown "cat person." 😊
Mine was the same. At the night he would have come to me asking to stretch my hands, so he can put his head on the palm of my hand and sleep. He was like a kind human. IK it's a weird thing to say, but when he passed away, I felt I missed something greater than my family. A year and half and I still can't help myself not to think about him every day. Cuddle your buddy everyday bro, every second is a bliss.
Our black kitty, Anchovy, did the same to my once "dog person" husband. My husband says he is now a full convert "cat person". Anchovy has such an angel personality. We call him our puppy-kitty. He greets us at the door, mingles with guests, and mostly has a go-with-the-flow personality. He loves to cuddle his humans too.
Same with my husband!!! But it was our grey white medium haired cat , Rose Meown’ Rosie, who converted him and has now fallen completely IN LOVE with our new member Mr. Black Kitty, Lucious. He’s just so lovable!!! More so then our other 2 females. The other one is a calico kitty she’s 19 yrs young. ❤
A young black cat turned up at my house about a month ago. I don't know where he came from but he squeaked at me until I bought cat food and he's been here ever since. He's the sweetest little boy and very affectionate. He also brings me dead mice and rats which I'm not too keen on but it's better than bringing me live ones. All in all I'd rate him 10/10 and certainly recommend a black cat to anyone.
Sounds exactly like the story of my boy Blacky. He brings me special presents too lol 😂 He is always so proud of his catch and meows till I come and tell him what a good boy he is. He is my best friend ❤️❤️❤️
My black cat showed up at my farm house a few years ago. I believe he was set out by somebody in the dead of night. His coat was dull, he was skinny, and just looked close to death. Now he is so healthy and beautiful, and got so big. His coat is shiny and jet black. He is precious.
I think it is such a travesty that anyone could think a beautiful black cat is not a loving cat. I'm thinking of getting a young female kitten to keep me company since I live in an independent nursing home. The reason I want an all black is because they are known to be loving cats.
I just read recently that they are known as the best spiritual protectors of all the colors. And that they can remove all negative energy from a home and their owners. ❤
We adopted a black cat last Aug who had clearly been dumped. He was starving and exhausted. Today, he’s very happy (he has the loudest purr) and robust. I adore him.❤
@@haloo_haybay His name is so close to the name of my soul-cat, Arian, who died last year at age 22 (a black cat of course). She was so precious to me.
I adopted Queenie from a rescue organization sponsored at Petco. When I got home and was looking over the paperwork, I saw that she was nearly a year-and-a-half old. She had been brought into a Los Angeles County animal shelter branch, then taken to south Orange County adoption fairs, and subsequently to the adoption fair at Petco in Anaheim, the city where I live. I have several cats, so I'm not prepared to adopt at the drop of a hat. The day I saw Queenie, I promised her that if no one adopted her, I would by a specific date. I began saving up for her, and the day before that date, I walked out of that Petco with my special black cat girl.
I just turned 18 in august and I was very insistent about getting a black kitten. I have a job so I paid his adoption fee with my own money and bought all of the necessities and all sort of toys and stuff like that. He is only 14 weeks and he is my little baby and I’d do anything for him. He’s the sweetest and goofiest little guy ever and everybody loves him. He was also the first to get adopted out of his 3 non fully black brothers 🖤
Find a good man, stop working and have children you will feel what you just described ten fold and your kids will also love this cat in the family for decades to come.
What a timely video. Just this morning, i said good buy to my lovely boy Othello. He was the little general of the house for 13 wondeful years. He was absolutely the most intuitive and companionable black cat to share my life. He had his own barstool so he could oversee all kitchen prep work. He was always at the door to meet me when i came home from work. I will miss him so much.
I have said "See you later, my beloved", to four black feline companions, so I know the pain. I miss them all so much. Best companions ever! I wish your dear heart much healing and comfort.
One of my aunts used to rescue feral cats. She was, I guess you might say, a cat whisperer. Somehow, the feral cats seemed to trust her. She would take them to the vet and socialise them by gently petting them and speaking softly to them. When they were used to the human touch, she would give them to family and friends. She gave me a black kitten when I was young. He lived to be twenty and died when I was in my mid-twenties. He had been with me for most of my life. The loss was devastating. He still holds an especial place in my heart and I firmly believe I will see him again in heaven.
reading this melted my heart, I currently have a black cat and he's so used to nose boops now haha he's just chill about it, even lightly poking his toes haha. his name is Ezra and he has a special spot in my heart 🥰
People who don't have pets don't understand the bonding on both sides, between human and animal. Pets are companions. They're friends. They aren't "just an animal", as is the attitude of many who can't appreciate the gifts that animals are to us, usually because they've never experienced the companionship a pet provides. Yes, when you have to have one put down for some reason, it really, REALLY hurts! It's losing a loved one, just as the death of a beloved person is losing a loved one. I've cried many times when veterinarians have told me their is nothing they can do for my cat, and the kindest thing is to have him euthanized. Yes, it's the right thing to do in some cases, but golly, that DOESN'T make it any easier! Do cats go to heaven? Why not? It's certainly possible, and I think a loving God understands how happy our companion animals make us, and would include our continued relationship with our pets as part of the rich love and total bliss we would have there. It's up to God, of course, but in heaven we would need nothing and want for nothing, so I believe that means our pets shall be there for us. Just my belief, but it's heartfelt.
@@jrnfw4060 it is amazing how a creature so small can take such a huge piece of our hearts when they have to go. I have five little cedar caskets on my dresser with the ashes of much loved cats that have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. To me, my cats are not pets, they are my children that just happen to walk on four paws, are covered in fur and purr!
I had a black girl named Sheba, now my angel. She was the sweetest cat I had ever seen, with a unique personality, like a little person in a cat suit. God bless black cats. Please adopt black cats , you will never regret it❤🐈⬛
Same with mine now. I wasn’t ready for another cat. Nope, nope nooo I said. But she was gentle and kind. My roommate was rehoming her during quarantine. I could have moved on knowing she would be fine. But It was her personality. She is loving, she was just determined that I was hers. I wasnt over my last babies, but she was irresistible ❤. and she’s clearly been through some stuff. My current vet just found BB’s in her chest and butt. Who could do that? She’s only approx 4-6 years old. My sweet baby. I call her my money pit. She has cost me a fortune with health issues, but she is so, so worth it. Her great big eyes and her paws bopping me awake every morning. I love spoiling her sweet heart.
@@DeeLite220 Wow BB’s in her and she was still trusting! Most animals get aggressive or withdrawn or other behaviour challenges and rightly so after going through betrayal in the hands of us humans. She’s the most fortunate Kitty to have you. May many many blessings come your way💟
I just adopted a black cat yesterday through the Humane Society. He appears to have come from an abusive home but we love him and are working to make a happy and safe home for this cutie.
WE LOVE black cats and are extremely partial to them! They are such beautiful creatures and it makes me sick to think there is such a bias around them. If people only knew... I love that there is a black cat rescue!! I just might make all my donations to THEM!! Thanks for posting this!
My cats have always been black and I forget that people don’t like them compared to other cats. I never understood why. I think black cats are amazing.
People who don’t like black (or any other color) cats should be put in a room with a bunch of kittens. (I saw a video like that once, and it turned out that the people who said they ‘don’t like cats’ never experienced a furry purry in their laps.
@@hazmania4794 wow, interesting but probably true nonetheless! They don't know what they are missing out on! I remember I made homemade kombucha and I asked my husband if he wanted some. He said I don't like kombucha. I said have you ever tried it, he said yes and it was terrible! I said well you haven't tried mine so at least try it. He refused for several weeks but then he tried it and couldn't believe how good it was! He said it doesn't taste like this at the stores! I said because it's not homemade 😉. I'm sure the same holds true with people and animals. They may have had a bad experience and just assume that animals are bad all around or not worthy of our attention, love and affection. Sad for them...
Black cats are SEVERELY underrepresented in ADs, pet food packaging, and posters at the vet.... think I've only ever seen it **one** time and it stood out to me because it's so rare.
I got my first cat when I was 4. He was a black cat I named Garfield. Even though I did some less than kind things to him as a small child. (Like playing barber with him and cutting off the whiskers on one side of his face.) Garfield loved me more than anyone else in the world. He died when I was 22. I literally grew up with him. I’ll never stop missing him.
Sorry about the loss of your Garfield. Sounds like a great cat. My family had a beautiful, sleek, black cat before they had me. She died when she was 23 and I was 21. That void they leave behind, it never goes away. It just sucks a little less after about 30 or so years. So remember Garfield, tell your stories about him and share his quirks with new people and celebrate that memory of him!
I adopted a black kitten ten years ago from a rescue --- he was on "sale" because no one wanted him. He's the friendliest guy, greeting everyone. He even guided guided the neighbor's dog around the yard when she went blind. He grooms my service dog.
My black cat's name is Gus. We found him abandoned at 4 weeks old. He grew up with two yorkies. Now he's twice their size and spoiled rotten. Love my baby Gus.
I got by boy at 4 weeks as well. He was so tiny that I thought he'd be a normal sized cat if we boosted his immune system and gave him protein feed of sorts. He turned out to be a 58cm , 6.8kg panther. I have to position myself in a sumo squat stance to pick him up 😅 he loves cuddles, sleeping under the covers and occasionally sleeping my limbs dead. Vet has assured me that he's not a chonk, it's his genetic makeup that makes him such a big boy.
Our all-black rescue cat, Sparky, recently passed. He was the most loving, affectionate cat we’ve ever had. Unusual for cats, he would make and hold eye contact, much like a dog. RIP Sparky.
I’m so sorry to hear that… I hope you’re doing okay after his passing. He sounded like a very sweet baby and you both were so lucky to have eachother. ❤
I am a dog person whom in recent years gained 7 cats. Most friendly, loving character award goes to my black cat! I believe a cat's personality has a lot to do with its human experience. But time and time again, the black cat has proven to me to be very loving. My emotional support comes from my black cat. Love him!!! He's rusty but hasn't spent 10 hours outside since he was born. I never did find a home for him as a kitten so I kept him. One of the best decisions I made!
😭😭😭 those poor babys, omg, why would people judge them so terribly they all are beautiful, ALL KITTYS, regardless of breed or colour they all behave depending on how they have been treated, if loved they're EXTREMELY affectionate loving kittys, wether black, orange, tall, short, etc. All cats should be loved❤❤❤
I adopted a black short hair in February. His name is Spout. He’s a rescue and was suffering from hypothermia and jaundice. He’s great!!! Very loving and full of personality!!! He’s 16 mos old now.
I had 6 black cats, I was a home renter and always took excellent care of my pets, fixed, vaccinated, clean and had very happy animals. I always got positive reviews from landlords when I needed to move. What my landlords didn't know is I only said I had 3 black cats when in reality I had six. It dawned on me that only I could tell the difference between my babies. And my cats tended to not be all in one spot at one time. This worked well for me.
Here are some facts about black cats: (1) They are black; (2) They are black; (3) They are black; (4) They are black; (5) They are black; (6) They are black; (7) They are black; (8) They are black. There's a bonus fact, but you'll probably never get it.
We have a black cat I rescued as a kitten. I put out a live trap after several months of leaving food outdoors for him - and he broke a record, triggering the trap before I could return inside. He's become my husband's companion cat and follows him everywhere. Highly intelligent, very social & happily enjoying an indoor life.
I went visited a person who was giving away 4 kittens at 6 weeks old. Two of them where grey and two were black. the greys were adopted before I could get there. I took to a black cat and discovered that he had a black sister; I couldnn't leave without taking them both. Adopting black cat siblings, brother and sister, was the best experience of my life. 🖤🐱
My black cats name is Pichael (pronounced like Michael). I adopted him at 8 weeks. He is the smartest cat I have ever encountered. He knows how to fetch and do various tricks! He has a bit of a sassy attitude and is very vocal about his needs. He will demand playtime and attention 24/7. He also gives the best cuddles and is very loyal to his owners. I love him more than anything and he brings happiness to my life ❤
My black cat just passed away recently after 17 wonderful years with her. She was by far the BEST cat I've ever had and I've had many in my life. I will definitely get another black cat. It makes me sad that there is a stigma to black cats because they deserve happy homes.
I adopted my cat from a shelter over 8 years ago. She was the last of the litter to be adopted and only black one. I was told people didn’t want a black cat, what a mistake. She is the most loving, caring cat I have ever had, would never give her up for anything!
I've had numerous cats through my life, but my little black baby was the best of them all. Loyal, loving and very protective. I'd give away much to have her back again.
My black cat Avery showed up on my windowsill 4 years ago crying for food & warmth. He is such a snuggly cuddle bug & I love him to bits. Now lives the pampered indoor life & there’s not 1 spooky thing about him 🖤
My black cat Lexi followed me everywhere. When I saw her st the shelter she was sleeping with her back to visitors. I looked at other cats, but kept going back to her. We had a special connection. I was devastated when she passed at 18. Our other black cat, Jordan, had terrible sinus problems and as she got older she went blind. She was such a trooper though and loved her brushing and attention. In her last few months she had dementia. I learned about perseverance from Jordan. Some day I'll adopt another 🐈⬛.
I recently lost a black cat due to cancer, and after some weeks we decided to adopt another black cat. They are sweet and loving... Just love black cats a lot. Thank you for the video!
I adopted 2 black kittens today - they are so sweet! I don’t know why anybody believes negative things about them, they are just like any other kitty! ❤They are welcome into our family! 😻😻😻
We rescued an itty bitty black kitten several winters ago. He was a feral kitten-we were told he couldn’t be tamed! Of course we still have him and he’s a cuddler ❤️
I rescued 6 feral kittens. 4 of them are solid black and it only takes minutes after sitting or laying down before they all migrate over to me and drape their tiny bodies across mine.. they are only about 7 weeks old but they stop mid play for cuddles , no problem!!
My feral boy, Blackie Lawless Velvet, was a godsend during covid. Being single, I was quite isolated. But Blackie gave me lots of hugs so I never felt lonely. Such a love!
Our first cat was a black rescue cat. The people at the cattery said black cats are often overlooked for adoption and this one has been there a while without anyone adopting him. We took him home and he was our beloved pet for 11 years until he died a few months ago. When we decide to adopt a new cat I wouldn't say no to another black one. I think they look wonderful.
A black cat came to my back door last September, at 1:30 in the morning. Our family tends to be night owls. I was walking into the kitchen when the movement in the darkness and the meows caught my attention. Turning on the light, it revealed the little sweetheart with his paws against the glass. He seemed friendly, possibly lost and hungry. Letting him in, he was very sweet and rubbed against my legs, orbiting under me. He let me pet him and rubbed against my hand. We'd lost our family cat about a year prior, and still had some food left. Finding some, I offered this little guy some and he was very grateful. My dad came in and expressed mixed emotions, half approving and half grumbling, not uncommon for him, remarking "It must be someone's cat. You'd better let him back outside." This little guy had no collar or other indication of ownership though, only the fact I confirmed he was a neutered boy. He wasn't starvingly thin, but wasn't necessarily well fed either. Spending a little time with him, I acquiesced and let him back out. "If he's supposed to come back, I'll see him again," were my thoughts. About a week and a half passed... And that night, someone showed up at the door again like before. There he was, looking up with his adorable face. Amusingly, before I could open the door, my dad did. Seeing him again brought me joy I hadn't felt in a long while. Bounding and prrrping in, again rubbing my legs and talking to me. Feeding him again with soft and hard food, he gratefully feasted. Not knowing how his behavior would be, I opted to set him up in our garage first. Male cats sometimes spray even if neutered, or might display other behaviors. It gave him a chance to be protected while we both figured out if this would be home. Setting him up with water, food, a pillow and blanket to sleep, the journey began. Each morning I would come greet him, feed him, and bring him inside for a while. At bedtime, he'd go back to his temporary "kitty jail." Putting his picture out online, no one claimed him. Only some false positives that were verified as other cats, who thankfully were also reunited with their missing fuzzys. After a week, I took my little buddy into the local clinic to check for a chip. No chip was found. So no prior ownership could be established. He was the sweetest guy from the beginning. Waiting another 2 weeks, I took him to my regular vet and had a full checkup and had him chipped. Within that time, he did sneak out once when my dad opened the house door while I was away at work. A bit concerned, I prayed. The next morning while taking trash out, I heard a familiar voice meowing at me and localized it.. There he was, on my neighbor's roof! He pranced over and came down onto the wall and down to me, following me inside. Naturally, quite to my relief. He came back with a clean bill of health at the vet. He was a good boy for his first visit too, no real struggles. It's time to bring him inside to stay, and so he's been in with us ever since. He brings my disabled mom joy, my elderly father too, and me of course.. as tough as I may be in the world, he's my little buddy that stole my heart. He's my gift from God and I am blessed to have him. He has such big paws too, everyone remarks at them. For being a part time spaz, his long name is "Jumpin Jack Flash" for when he does his zoomies. He also loves digging, and not always where he should, so my girlfriend named him "Jack the Ripper." Mostly, he's just Jack. ❤🖤💙 Our little girl prior to him was with us 16 years, also a rescued stray from up a tree. And prior to her with some overlap, my first cat of 24 amazing years. Jack reminds me of him, even though he was a different breed, their personalities are similar. I can only pray to be blessed with him so long. 🙏
Way back in 2005 when I was 19 years old, I had gone through a mental health crisis and was hospitalized for suicidal behavior. My therapist suggested I adopt a pet as part of my therapy plan, she thought it would be good for me to focus my time and energy on caring for something. I was living with my parents at the time and was a bit limited on what type of pet I could adopt. I went to the nearest shelter and was looking around at the animals there, I was pretty certain that I was going to adopt a cat, they've been a major part of my family life throughout my childhood. At the shelter the staff showed me the litters of kittens they had, they said they go quickly so recommended I pick one out sooner rather than later. In one of the rooms they had a solid black cat and a solid white kitten. I asked if it was a mother cat and her kitten and they said no, they both were kittens and unrelated but had similar temperaments so they were paired together. The black one was a boy and he was huge, despite them estimating that he was only 5 months old. The staff at the shelter said the little white girl kitten would likely be adopted soon but that he was unlikely to be adopted because he was so big and black, and would likely be euthanized. So, needless to say, I adopted him and he lived a pampered and lavish indoor lifestyle for about thirteen years before passing from treatment resistant urinary tract issues. In terms of how people treat cats here in the midwest part of the USA, many people see them as uncontrolled pests, no matter what color they are. Young men especially tend to find joy in running them over when possible, or shooting them, as if it is some kind of game. They would never do such things to dogs and would think it criminal, yet their bias keeps them from seeing their own barbaric behavior. Feral cat populations are certainly a problem, no one is arguing against that, but there are more humane ways to controlling populations and controlling the spread of diseases between those populations than using cruelty and violence. For example there is a local vet clinic that will vaccinate, spay, or neuter any feral cat you can trap and bring in at a low cost.
ardentaxiom- Thank you for sharing. I’m glad the kitty help you get well. Did you know there pairing is healing to humans. I have a black kitty I adopted another kitty to the past. He sees him in spirit running around my house. No, your kitty is with you always...
Two years ago I got my black cat Monday, and soon I'm adopting our second black cat, who is named Sunday. Big were named by the shelter, so it felt like fate !
I currently have 6 black cats in my home. *Not original family plan ;) however I would not change a thing! My neighborhood has had a huge spike in the feral colony since 2020; people have turned their cats out, many literally moving/ leaving them behind to fend for themselves, it is heartbreaking. It is my experience that the other color cats are adopted & the beautiful black kittens are left behind.. we've literally placed 30+ kittens and only 1 black kitten. Ending with me foster-failing.. & then they live with me forever ♡ .. hence my herd growth in last four years. There is a small band of neighbors who catch, fix & home those we are able. But it is an uphill battle to feed & watch over so many - indoors & outdoors. Our shelters do not take cats.. so very thankful to those who open their hearts, homes & finances to help out!
I had a black cat who passed recently. He was a huge 20 lb cat but was not overweight as he was just big all around. Used to get bullied by my kittens. Huge scaredy cat. He was absolutely terrified of bags. I miss him. He gave the best hugs.
Isn't that funny, my black cat is afraid of bags too! It's so strange. I've had him since he was a kitten and nothing bad ever happened to him. But, he fears the trash bags when I change the trash. It's super weird, LoL.
@brianasnatacruz@3921, I'm sorry to hear about your cat passing away. I have 4 kittens that are 3 months old right now. Three of the kittens are all black and the 4th kitten is a tuxedo black and white kitten. I live in Florida if you are interested in adopting one of them.
My black cat Jett was afraid of bags too! I had 16 wonderful years with him. My new black kitty Tinkerbelle isn't afraid of bags. She really isn't afraid of much.❤🐈⬛️
I've loved all black animals from horses, to dogs, to cats, bids, & gerbils. Owned them all (except black birds) at different times of my life. I love their shiney coats & when the two black cats in my thumbnail would sleep cuddled together, sometimes they looked like one in the many pics I have of them cuddled together sleeping. Black cats are special. Super loving & I've always kept mine indoors, safe from Lukemia & cars. They use 3rd floor balcony for fresh air & cat doors to go in & out of. I've owned 5 so & just love them. My purrbabies always. 🐈⬛🐈⬛
A little over a year ago, we suddenly lost a Siamese to pancreatitis. We went through and tried many of the "Rescue" groups, and the filtering process was disheartening. So we found a Siamese (we like their talkative nature) at a not-so-close county shelter. As we arrived for our appointment, a young family was leaving with the Siamese we went to visit. Not wanting to abandon the search, we went to visit other candidates. There was one, a large, adult, black, male that latched on to us, and was talking to us at every turn. He was in no way what we were looking for (non Siamese, big, male, adult, and black), but over the past year, he has proven to be the best companion I've had in my 60+ years of having cats... Only downside, he's hard to photograph...
We have had 5 black cats since the first one in 1976. Our black cat Linus is lean and lanky and, if he's awake, he's talking! He hasn't been genetically tested and he was picked up as a stray, so we have no idea what his parentage is but we're thinking there is some Siamese in his background. I agree that photographing a black cat is difficult but I have had a little success. What works for me is not using the flash but having good light coming from further away behind me.
They really aren’t hard to photograph. You just take a picture like any other cat. You’re just not going to get a ton of facial expressions 😂 You will get attitude from their golden eyes, though.
@@jeffbiddle1956 (in retirement) I'm a photographer, and I probably know how to shoot (light-painting, nightscapes, and astro are kinda my thing), I just have a high expectation of what I think is "good enough". To be clear, most of the time, it's far harder to shoot a black subject, indoors, in low light, w/o a flash, than say a light colored subject... Add to that, cellphones have only recently started to attempt to address the topic, so most "candid" shots are... well less than "good enough" IMO. Add to that, I agree with that comment in the video.
Photography tip: I take pictures of my cat when he's climbing the tree outside, during the day, and he looks stunning! The black actually shines a lot surrounded by green.
My first black cat was sitting in my driveway when I arrived home one evening 11 years ago. It was like she was just waiting for me to show up so she could let me know she chose me. How could I say no?!? I now have 3 black cats and am very biased. Black cats rule! Thank you for doing this video. I now understand why my youngest cat sometimes looks rusty brown.
@@Pea_Green I've always had 3 at a time, my oldest just passed at 18. She would let me rub her tummy which most cats wouldn't let you do, she was a Hemmingway. (so was her sister that passed years ago due to kidney problems). My other two are 8 and 14. I'm down to 2 now, would love another, but.... as I'm 75, I'm sure still going to love these two to death. 🐈⬛🐈⬛ Have had Calicos and personality doesn't compare. Blackies rule!
We foster-failed in an all black male kitten last year. He just moved in and decided this was his home. His fashion-plate calico sisters were adopted quickly and everyone was happy. He's a love bug. ❤
My daughter and her roommate bought rabbits off of a breeder and was given a black cat because they were getting rid if the left-over kittens after selling what they could.😢 He is a huge cat at 12 months old and still growing. He is chill and loves his people. He walks on a leash with a harness, goes camping and even paddle boarding. He plays a little too hard with the other cats. He can't help himself. He is enthusiastic about everything!❤
We went to Salt Lake Animal Control looking for a black cat. My wife really wanted a black cat. The female she found, really they found each other, is such a character. So much fun, and she even plays fetch. Love our Jade Lady!
I am in animal rescuer/ foster and I currently have three black cat fosters. The more I foster the more I realize how amazing black cats are. They are truly my favorite now, and the fact that they have this horrible stigma is literally heartbreaking. And yes in fact it is true that they are the most euthanized and harder to adopt color in cats. I’ve unfortunately had kittens that have grown up to be for adults with no interest for anyone to adopt them. So I encourage you if you were wanting to adopt a kitten, adopt a black cat they Will truly change your life. I currently have five black cats that are my personal cats and I love them beyond words.
live out in the country, got a yard full of cats, dogs, and ducks. all well feed and taken care of. 4 of the cats are shiny jet black. their my favorites. one is 13 years old. Beck Beck, she's my kitty girl.
We adopted a black cat two years back and our lives have never been the same! She's been the sweetest and the most fun thing in our lives and loves us to bits!
Mine found me as a kitten, I was feeding her outside and providing a safe space for her to eat and stay. After about a week she decided to follow me inside the house and 2 years later she's a happy and healthy indoor black cat. I absolutely love her and the fact that she chose me makes me feel so special. Cats are a gift to us all and are amazing!
Our 1st cat was a black dsh who “picked us” at the shelter. Best decision ever to bring him home. He passed in January at 17.5 years old, after 2 years of health troubles. It was heartbreaking to lose him. My daughter has adopted another black cat, knowing that the cat can never replace the first, but now just loving black cats.
We adopted four cats. My daughters adopted a tabby and a grey cat five years ago. I got cat fever and wanted a black cat. The shelter had a black kitten that I immediately wanted to scoop up. When we filled out the adoption papers they had another black kitten who immediately stole our hearts. We've had "the twins" for a year and a half now. ❤
Cat Fever! lol That's a lifelong condition. I have 12 rescues, 6 are black, 3 of those are kittens!! NGL though, I HATE kittens!! They always grow up!! :( _ _ _ .. even if you don't feed them properly!! lol jk! :D
I adopted my black cat Nino in 2020 at 4 months old. He saw his first snow, Christmas and birthday with me with great awe and has become my greatest love in life. He’s fickle, fresh at times, playful and affectionate. I wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world. 🐈⬛
I just adopted two black cats yesterday, and I was so happy to see this video! They were rescued from a hoarding situation. They were in the shelter for 2 months. They have definitely stolen my ❤️ Such sweet babies and I love their personalities. Thanks for helping these sweeties!
I adopted 2 black cats most folks in my area don't want black cats they are great get along with my dogs & catch mice love these guys very friendly & affectionate can't imagine being without them panthers are great
We have a black cat that came with the house we bought. He was fairly wild having lived for 13 years outside in the forest by himself. Now at 16, he sleeps on the bed and is the most grateful and cuddly soul we have ever known.
Haha. My previous (yes, black) cat came with the house I bought too. Told he was scared of men . . . I lost him to my new partner when he moved in. When the cat died, I thought I was going to have to bury him with that cat . . he was a wreck.
The most affectionate one out of my 3 cats is a black cat named Bubba. It was a tough start for my hubby and I as he had difficulty trusting us in the beginning. He was reportedly returned twice to the shelter because he didn’t get along with other cats. 4 years later, he is thriving with us and healthy as ever! Walking around with his question mark tail and showing us his belly all day long like he never knew danger. Bubba also found a stray kitten in our back porch, we named him Bandit, and they’ve been best friends ever since. 🥰
I have a black cat. Beau is my second skin. He's 22 years old and going strong. He is so smart and I feel he know what I am saying. Beau is very protective and gets a little upset if I go very far without him. I would be lost without him. He's been a blessing in my life.😇
I and my gal rescued 2 females from our local humane society, and one was a black female named Midah. She is an absolute sweetie , she is my gals cat, and the other named Ankah is an obvious feral they warned us was a biter and constantly hissing, she is my cat and is my buddy. Love your channel. Merry Christmas.
We were adopted by a black cat last November. We think he was left behind by a some people in the area who moved away. No one claimed him and now has settled himself in with our other two cats. He can be chaos incarnate but is so affectionate and friendly- we love him to pieces
Got my black gremlin about 5 years ago. She's an absolute dream cat! She's super affectionate and I wouldn't change her for the world. This coming from a "dog guy".
I got a black cat from a local shelter over two years back. Poor little guy had been in a cage with his 4 siblings for a year and watched his siblings all get adopted until only he was left. He was in pain from a poorly done neutering as well. He was really underdeveloped. Yet he was still so lovable to people! I took him home and over another year he grew into the awesome panther he was meant to be. He is loving, playful, an awesome greeter and loves his older orange brother. He likes our pitbull too! I've only known a few black cats in my life, but all were great cats!
Oh no the last to be adopted… hurts my heart so much. Thank you for taking him to his full potential. There is a very special spot in heaven for people like you.
I love black cats and they have wonderful personalities and are so affectionate. There was a family of black cats who were strays in our neighborhood that we rescued and we had the older father cat, his daughter and a son. We could tell by their affection with each other that they were very close. The oldest was starting to have some gray hairs in his fur. His daughter, Bev, we brought in first because she was pregnant. Next came her father Magic and as soon as he came in the door, he ran to Bev and started washing her head. They were always together. Salem had been with Magic, and we were able to bring him in the next day in the humane trap. So, all cats went to the vet, Magic was already "fixed", so apparently he was an abandoned cat, Bev had her kittens and we kept 3 and our vet adopted out the other 3 at his adoption center. Salem was neutered and Bev spayed, once she was done nursing. And the 3 kittens, Socks, Saffron and Sage were all spay/neutered. That had been many years ago, and Saffron is the last surviving cat of the family. All the cats lived long lives, but Sage died the youngest at 12, due to cancer. They were all wonderful cats and very affectionate.
I've had cats my whole life but only recently got my very first black kitty. She is so super sweet. I've never had a cat that is as affectionate as she is. She also follows direction very well. One thing I was not prepared for is her ability as a hunter - since she blends in so well, she is an expert at hiding and jumping out and scaring the shit outta me 😆She is a wonderful pet and she's everything I've ever wanted in a kitty.
My black cat Gunther (who crossed the Rainbow Bridge 3 years ago) was an absolute sweet heart. He was gigantic, he was goofy, he was loud, he purred super easily, and I just adored him. When I'm ready to adopt again I will be seeking at least one black cat, maybe 2. I have thought of fostering before but I wonder if I'd fall too in love with my fosters and end up with 38 cats...
@amberfritz852, I'm sorry to hear about your cat passing away. I have 4 kittens that are 3 months old right now. Three of the kittens are all black and the 4th kitten is a tuxedo black and white kitten. I live near Orlando, Florida if you are interested in adopting one of them.
My own kitty, Mavis, is a black cat, I originally was going to the shelter to get a kitten but I saw her so scared of the word around her, curled up in a tight ball in her litter box and I just had to adopt her. Especially so when one of the people at the shelter tried to lure her out with a treat she she just picked it up with her little paw and ate it that way, she was so scared but still showed me such a charming personality. Coming up on 8 years later and she’s all snuggly on my lap as I type this
We loved our Black Cat. His name was Zorro, he was a domestic short hair, and he lived with us from a kitten for over 15 years. Sadly his kidneys failed (we gave him subcutaneous IVs for his last two years). A well traveled kitty as I was career US Air Force (5 moves my last 10 years in service). His last five years were lived in Florida where he enjoyed lounging around the pool enclosure or walking around. He's been gone a long time but we still miss him and talk about him.
It makes my blood boil how discriminatory we are not just against people of other color, but towards animals or certain colors. It was a black shelter cat that turned me into a cat lover. He was SO gentle and was the perfect buddy for me to learn how to hold a cat, and start to enjoy the company of a cat. He never scratched, never hissed, he was basically like a pillow. No matter what you try to do with him - lift him, hold him like a baby, put him on your shoulder, he's just calm and collected. I wanted to adopt him but he passed before I was able to move into a pet-friendly apartment. I now do TNR on my own as well as work with street feeders in other cities. I have my own 6 cats and have managed to make cat people out of my 4 family members, and they're now caring for 7 cats. And all that because of an encounter with a black cat 5 years ago. Had it been a calico or a ginger that I first interacted with (more sassy personalities), who knows? my parents now have 2 black cats, mom and son. But mom doesn't like her own son lol. Son is a timid scaredy boy and mom is as loyal as a dog, following my mom wherever she goes and screaming at her when she thinks my mom has gone past the "safe" zone lol All the black cats I've interacted with have been gentle individuals. ALL OF THEM. So I really don't understand the bias. It must be because of discrimination based on looks. It sucks. Humans suck.
My family adopted 2 black cats and even when the shelter told us they had ring worm we took them anyway. We have no regrets as they are two of the sweetest cats we have ever had. The female Onyx is our naughtiest cat but she is also so sweet. The male Obsidian is our nose licker and is also very sweet.
When our black cat, Murphy, was an outdoor cat, he contracted ring worm. Ring worm is not a worm at all but rather a mite infestation. I dosed him with oral Ivermectin and it cured him. His hair grew back and he was no longer tired and sick, he became healthy and beautiful. Please read my comments about Murphy in former comments.
My daughter adopted a black kitten 7 years ago, and he was the first cat who made me fall in love with cats. Since then I have been feeding the street cats, fostering their kittens to go to good homes. Thanks a lot "Monkey" my true champ! Alhumdulillah!
We rescued a pregnant tabby who had 4 kittens, two were black and we kept one of the black kittens. I picked her because I felt a deep connection to her the second she was born, she would fall asleep so peaceful in my arms and always came to me first. She has continued to be a sweet angel baby into adulthood, we are so lucky to have her and her mother. 💖 All four kittens were lovely and they all went to loving homes of dear friends, but our girl was meant for us!
We had a small black cat that had 3 litters before we got her fixed. We kept, or found homes for, all the kittens. In every litter she had at least one, blue-eyed Siamese. Two of the four kittens we kept we're black and fluffy - beautiful cats. She, and the kittens we kept, all lived to be 20.
My neighbor's long hair black cat, visits me at least twice a day. Before he eats breakfast at home. And in the afternoon. At 40lbs ,with green eyes, he's a big boy.
Our black kitty is the sweetest most chill cat we’ve had. She acts like this is her world and we’re all just living in it. She’s not afraid of anyone and is relatively calm despite being a kitten.
we rescued a black stray in may (literally picked him from the street and took him in) and he's the sweetest baby i've met in my life. he warmed up to us as soon as we brought him home and he's even been really civil with a couple of parakeets we're fostering for a few weeks, he just looks at them in wonder for a few minutes and then moves on. I have always been a black cat fan and i'm so glad he found us when he did
I remember when I adopted my little black kitty 3 years ago, there were so many people telling me how nice it was that I adopted him. After I figured out why, I decide that I’m only adopting black cats from here on out 😢❤
