I’m telling you. If you want substance, you’ve got to watch Persolaise. He’s the best perfume reviewer I’ve seen. I can’t believe he offers such high quantity education and expertise for free. I also love Sam. Exquisite taste. Persolaise and Sam. My top two.

I couldn't agree more! Both so knowledgable and well spoken, I really feel it is time well spent when i watch them.
@thehonestperfumereviewer6336
His style with the lives are so long, though. Spends a lot of time just saying hello to people commenting and I guess I am too restless to hang around and wait, haha. But will not give up on Persolaise, I think he seems very knowledgable. I heard him say today that he only knew Serge Lutens since 20 years. He must have been in the game for quite a while.

This is sexy stuff guys ! 😂 This is one of those phrases that makes me get out of any perfume video. I follow TheTopNote, not only her way to see perfume but also her voice is so calm and soothing. And Persolaise, I love his voice too😊
@thehonestperfumereviewer6336
Haha, agree. I can take the word sexy here and there, but the word loses it's power if used in every other video. Am starting to watch Persolaise, but find him a bit too polite and comments every single person that write to him during his lives. Takes a while to get any substance and I guess I am too restless to wait. But haven't given up. I watched him talk about oud today and really hit the nail on the head when he said it can be both animalic and industrial (kind of like petroleum) at the same time and that was just the description I was looking for.

You hit the nail on the head at the end of the video. I am one who really wants to know about the person. With your channel, I thought it was so cool that you live in Sweden and wanted to know about your daily life in a country I know so little about. It fascinates me to see how other people live and I think that's why I love RU-vid so much. Getting to see your day to day is super interesting and personally I love vlogs. Part of it is the relatability. I'm in my 50s too and the fact that we've both lost our husbands at a young age, makes me feel a connection even though you live so far away. I think it's always about connecting, even through the internet, that is so appealing about RU-vid.
@thehonestperfumereviewer6336
You lost your husband too? Maybe you have written about this before. Big hugs to you. Feel sorry to hear that. Do you guys have kids? I always feel a connection with other widows. Thank you for commenting. I don't mind being personal to a certain extent. I find that I get more back too, like more comments etc.

@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 Right back at youi! Yes, 2 wonderful kids who are my pride and joy and I could write a paragraph but yes, we were in our 40s and kids were 9 and 11. It's the last thing you can ever imagine could happen and I am just thankful to have had him for the time I did. He was truly golden, one in a billion and I couldn't have custom-ordered a better one! xx
@thehonestperfumereviewer6336
@@mnop1774 Same for me! And I felt so supported by him in my work and we ended up running a business together for 10 years. I started it and he quit his job to come and join me. It was a great experience. Now I feel that my support at home is gone and I am scared to try and have a career again. As the kids get older, it will be easier but it has been hard. They were 8, 10 and 12 when my husband got sick and 10, 12 and 14 when he passed away.

@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 Wow we have many parallels and sending you much love and support. Even our kids' ages were almost the very same and my husband's illness lasted about 14 months so they had birthdays as well. It's uncanny isn't it. No one near me has had this experience (thankfully) and it's somehow comforting to know I'm not alone. Thank you for not only your fragrance videos but for sharing some of your story. xx

Appreciate your honest review. I was on the fence about purchasing the samples influenced by the BOLD marketing. The base seems a bit common for price point, so this will be a pass. I will try to secure a sample of Dirty Rice as it’s so popular and sounds pleasantly subtle.

Hi Kicki :o) I like when perfume reviews are real and talk about some personal stuff so I know a bit about them. I also find that channels where the "Host", (is that the right word, lol), never answers even one comment their loyal followers leave, is so rude. You do, and most of the channels I now watch also do. Some perfume channels are straight up businesses that are totally making money by sponsorships and to me, are not interesting to watch at all. As for samples, I think you can accept sets if the store or brand doesn't have strings attached and you feel confident you can say what you really think. That's the key. If you are going to feel guilty or obligated, then you know you can't accept free samples. I think you could totally have accepted the Borntostandout set as it was a door prize sort of thing with that event, so you never got your gift everyone else did. I think the easiest samples to review would be from a shop that sells many brands because they won't care what you say, but a brand might give you a hard time or have expectations? I trust you and that is all that matters to me. oxJulia

I’d have to say that I very much appreciate both your honest and straight to the point reviews, and also general commentary about this hobby and fragcomm. In this video alone, there is a good balance of both. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! Nice to hear that.

I think the issues you discussed in the end of the video are really interesting and note worthy. There is deffinetely a difference amonst the people who talk about fragrances in their chanels and their approach. And I think that this explains the pattern you have noticed in your views. I really enjoy watching your videos not so much to hear about new perfumes, but to hear your perspective about fragrance, the community and life in general, thus I appreciate your personable approach.

Thank you for commenting. Am getting many more comments these days, too. I really enjoy reading and answering them. It feels like a community.

I have some BTSO samples coming this week. Thanks for your reviews. Yes, you must get Blanche Bete! I got my first bottle over a year ago and my second is waiting to be opened. I have 200+ fragrances and I used that much of Blanche Bete. It’s magical!
@thehonestperfumereviewer6336
Really? Gone through a bottle of it already?! I had just a few mills and used the perfume up very quickly, enjoying every minute. I guess maybe I must get it. But I just bought another fragrance and might have to wait a little...

I think you are so right about that being a bit personal is important,like someone else here mentioned,it is about feeling connected and that we can relate to each other in a way. I also like My world of fragrance, also The Top note,Smurfygurly, Maria Meliora and Rose and Jones. I like them for different reasons,but they all have in common that you can feel that they genuine love perfume and the artistry of it. Also nice to have some content from women that are around my age, I will be 50 in a month.Thank you for a great video! I
@thehonestperfumereviewer6336
Thank you for saying that. There should be people of all ages on RU-vid, not just those in their 20s and 30s. Will check out these recommendations, not sure that I know Maria Meliora and Rose and Jones.

@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 do it 🤩 i totally agree with the fact that most RU-vidrs speak highly about fragrances, witch makes it seem unnatural or fake, probably paid? It’s so interesting. Perfume, in all aspects: from the reviews - learning the many opinions, science, stories, effects - to testing, blind buying, discovering/adding/growing a collection …then realizing you may have an addiction, unsubscribing to those influencers you named (as well as others) & grooming down your exposure, while examining your impulsiveness. MmmHmmmm. Claire Smith, Essential Veronica, MyWorldofFrag, Ouch110 are still in my current subscriptions.
@thehonestperfumereviewer6336
I don't feel the urge to buy from listening to reviews really. I always make sure to try fragrances first, preferably a whole decant or at least a sample. NEVER blind buy and rarely buy at the counter at first sniff. I go back to a store several times before buying something. I follow all of those reviewers. Do you mean Veronica says? Or maybe she has changed the name of her channel?
@corinalymburner1121
@corinalymburner1121 Год назад
@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 yes sorry, Veronica Says (her 2nd channel is the one I mentioned above). I live 6 hrs away from a perfume counter & unfortunately when I’ve visited them, I usually go nose blind… for me listening to reviews, blind-buying across diff frag families & then sniffing my way thru & learning my nose’s preferences has been the way I’ve gone. So far, so good 😊
@thehonestperfumereviewer6336
@@corinalymburner1121 I see! I understand that going to a shop must be totally overwhelming for you. Where do you live? I actually have a pretty good group of new friends that I can share perfumes with. You know, like sniff perfumes at their houses and have meetups. We swap decants and that way I can get my nose on a lot of stuff without blind-buying.

Hmmm this is interesting! I'm a bit sceptical about how different these Korean or Japanese brands will really be much different if they are using the same classically trained French perfumers from Firmenich or Givaudan etc. Sure the ingredients might be more asian inspired.... cypress, tea, rice, but the ingredients come from the same aroma houses the perfumers come from 🤷‍♀️

I really wanted more rice out of Dirty Rice! False advertising on their part, lol. and ooh, I have a sample of Blanche Bete coming in the mail soon, sounds like it smells great! I totally get the detergent aspect of Naked Neroli too (but in a laundry detergent way on me). As a neroli lover I'm a big fan and I feel like I finally found my "this smells like fresh laundry" scent! I can definitely see how it would be too detergent-ish for a lot of peoples' preference though. I'm glad you don't outright hate that one at least it sounds like, haha. I keep wanting to find a great J-Scent fragrance, but most of the ones I try end up being just okay for me and for some reason they don't usually smell very high quality to me. I haven't tried Sumo Wrestler yet, though! I completely agree about the overuse of "sexy" as a descriptor in fragrance too. I actually rarely find a fragrance worthy of being called that; even most ones I love I wouldn't consider sexy. (Ironically today one of my videos that you commented on I did describe a fragrance that way, but 99% of the time I don't, ha!) And reviewers that only ever say positive things about fragrances - makes it seem either untrustworthy to me, or like they just love anything they ever smell. Re: the addiction, that's such an interesting point! Relevant to me as well. And like you, in terms of any manifestation of it in fragrance, it's not about buying bottles but about obsessing over every single aspect in general. (Better for our wallets at least!) I did a video at one point about "types of fragrances to avoid if you've had issues with addiction/substance abuse" and it's interesting to see that this does seem to be a bit more widespread in fragrance in general than I thought! Great video as always! -Wes
@thehonestperfumereviewer6336
Yes, I heard you say that. But you are not the type I was referring to. I say sexy here and there and I am not against the word. But if it is used in every single video.... gah!
