Muharram 1446 / 2024 -- Night 8
Drawing inspiration from the objectives of self-reform, this lecture presents an overview of the notions of Tawba and Istighfar, or repentance to God and seeking God's forgiveness. After a quick Quranic examination of these Islamic notions, the story of Prophet Yunus (Jonas) and his people is quickly presented as a practical case study, demonstrating the notions of individual as well as collective repentance and seeking forgiveness, which we must follow individually and as communities. The repentance of al-Hurr b. Yazid al-Riyahi is then referenced after an overview of the journey of Imam Hussain from Mecca to Karbala.
