Just came across your channel - love your content! It's hard to find people talking about FIRE from a Singaporean context. My partner and I are currently on this journey as well, would be great to connect with like minded folk here in Singapore who are on the same journey. Do you currently join or know of any meetup groups?
thanks for the comment! I have not join any group! But maybe 1m65 might be the closest that I could think of. You? Have you explored any groups tt u like?
In reality FIRE is a moving target until your life is in a stable stage becos it is both physical and mental. For example, at 25yrs old, you may think FIRE is $5k per month for the rest of your life. But by 35, you will realise that FIRE is $10k per month and not $5k. By 45, with a different stage of life, it would likely go up again by another 50% to eg. $15k It’s only when you reach a certain age of stability in life around 50-55 that you slow down and that could be the most realistic time to truly understand your true FIRE amount. 😁😂😎
As a person just starting out in his financial journey, I thank you for such an collected and informative video. I wonder how does inflation affect LEAN F.I.R.E. For example, the amount of $3000 a month basic expenses today, will be more in 20-30year's time as food, goods and services cost increase. I'm so glad to found your channel and really like your style as you explain very clearly. Thank you!
This depends on your investment type, IE Dividend paying stocks or Real Estate Rentals. You rentals should see growth via rent roll raises year on year usually around 3% to 2% this normally beats inflation. With Dividend Stocks you want to look at the CAGR or Compound Anual Growth Rate of the Dividend. Using the example of SCHD a Dividend Growth fund it has a 3 year growth rate of 17.27%, a 5 year growth rate of 13.02% which is very good and easily beats out inflation. When looking for dividend income stocks you might end up with a higher yield, and a lower CAGR. Making sure the growth rate is around 6% is very important to me. I am attempting to do a FAT FIRE before 50 years old.
Hi there, had been following for a few videos and there are some great contents from you there :). But then perhaps maybe you can note down the parts with the new RU-vid feature to allow easier tracking of each chapters/parts there is. Keep up with the great contents!
This video, you may want to consider delink the word “R.E” from the stages. Because one can be F.I but do not want to R.E. Since the content is about the stages. R.E is a choice. There are many that choose to continue their working life even they reached F.I.
