A well made font will never be outdated, doesnt matter if its sans serif or serif. I think what matters its the visual style: minimal, colorful, flat , 3D or other effects. About dark mode I dont think either its a trend. I see it more as a matter of comfort. Ive been using design softwares in dark mode for years, RU-vid and whatsapp aswell. But I like reading dark text on white background.

Was about to comment the same thing but looks like you already nailed it. Also, there is really no trends when you look at graphic design. Sure you could say that all these logos are becoming modern and simplifies as a trend, however this is just a representation of the technology of that time. Remember those 3D logos? This was a "trend" because 3D design had just been released and graphic designers like us all wanted to explore using 3D. Still enjoyed your work and I hope you countinue to make great content.

Once upon a time, design was meant to solve problems and improve quality of life. A designer who believes that trends are of any importance or value to human kind has misunderstood the point of their practice. Her rant about a sustainable practice underlines my point perfectly. Every time a company updates it's brand it will inevitably result in absurd amounts of excess products(trash), and I promise you the the world won't forget brands like Coca Cola due to missing a marginal trend related update. Every crisis we are going through has it's root in bad design. A cornucopia of choices in every aspect of life makes us confused and mentally fatigued. Look at the state of the world, it's shit, and designers are doing their best to paint this gigantic piece of crap in alle the colours of the rainbow and pretend everything is nice and optimized and pretty. Form follows function, not trends, never ever trends.

I'm not so sure about the dark mode staying on brand for so long, maybe it's just me but after having it on my phone and laptop for years, I went back to normal for no reason one day and I'm not going back to dark anytime soon ! it sure is trendy but I'm not as optimistic as you are about the longetivity of it ig

Good point! It may be one of those things where people like it just because it's the alternative. if a iPhone comes out only in the colour blue then 6 months later comes out with a red one, everyone wants the red.

Dark mode, imho, isn’t about trends, but about convenience and the level of eye strain. Much more an ergonomical thing than a design style.

I don't think it was anti-design. Now the neural network is gaining momentum. there is such a design studio in Russia 'Artemy Lebedev's Studio'. they created a neural network that creates such abstract pictures, but at the same time does them very well

Shame that sustainable packaging is just a “trend.” I recall soy-based inks, 100% post consumer waste papers, earth tones, etc. as design trends back in the 80s. What is marketed to consumers DIRECTLY relates to what does and does not go into landfills. Slick and sexy is still possible with designs that consider more sustainable materials.

never believe in design trends. nowadays some people will still use vintage 1800's design and some 1960's modernism logo as well

I love vintage, old designs… never really been a fan of the minimalist look and plain sans serif typefaces, but I think they have their place specifically online, on websites andRU-vid, mostly for marketing purposes but I don’t feel it’s necessarily a style that would normally instinctively attract most people outside of these realms.
