DtRockstar1 records the cars leaving from the 2014 Concourso Italiano in Monterey, California. I focused mainly on the rare/vintage exotics in this video. You'll see the Ferrari Daytona, Dino, 250 Lusso, F40, 275 GTB, Lamborghini Espada, Jarama, Jalpa, 400GT, Countach, Diablo, Maserati Ghibli, and many others. There's plenty of videos of the modern exotics, why not give the vintage cars some love?

A big reason for lack of vintage vehicles on RU-vid is that, first of all, most people drive them less than modern vehicles. Also, the RU-vid audience is largely made up of kids and non-car enthusiasts who only want to see all of the "fastest new cars". Vintage cars need more attention for sure.

m5zealot It definitely throws you off guard, in a good way. You start to gain respect for that kid because they can appreciate more than just the latest and greatest. There was one guy on RU-vid who was making videos talking about his top favorite supercars, and they were all the typical one's: Zonda, Koenigsegg, Veyron, Enzo, Carrera GT, Aventador, ect. It was like he was naming his top favorite songs, and listing all the songs that are played on the radio 5 times a day. Now don't get me wrong, I am a fan of the cars I listed above. It's just that they lose some of their mystique when you hear about them ALL the time.

DtRockstar1 Please don't me get me wrong either...especially all you younlings...I love the McLaren P1, La Ferrari etc. I really appreciate all the technology and the many things a modern supercar can do. Heck, they can even save you from crashing. The best thing to remember is before calling a vintage car ugly, just remember the year it was introduced to the public. Then go to Google and see what other type of cars were on the road at the same time period. Chances are, there will be nothing on the road that comes close to the styling and technology of the "ugly" car. Younger enthusiast will call the Countach ugly. There were no production cars on the road with scissor doors and a mid mounted V12 on the road. Finally, there are a lot of young guys who love my car but I know if I threw the key at them and said "Take if for a spin" they would be able to because they won't know how to drive a stick! :-)

m5zealot its so true what you said I love cars (BTW I'm 13) but I'm not in to modern cars I like more of the classics like the countach, the Ferrari Dino, or the 1960 California but I'm a very rare person I'm not into a lot of modern things like music or cars I like to go back to everything's roots see where it started I can get so captivated into simpler times than today

Vintage all the way i say. Better looking, better sounding and best of all they have character and I think the more modern cars get more attention because there more common.

Classics are more fun to drive, better sounding, better looking and overall cooler. My MGB GT will get more looks than even a modern exotic and that's been proven as I parked it next to a lamborghini superlaggera, it got a wider, larger audience looking at it

i would much rather watch video's like this one, featuring beautiful vintage exotic's verse's the new stuff, which is kinda boring with all the computer added doodads, and automatic transmissions. Besides, the vintage exotics are so much better looking

I just think that the newer exotics are nicer looking cars and more people like to see how far technology has come throughout the years. I personally like cars from many era's. I would rather have a classic Lamborghini Miura more than a Lamborghini Gallardo, not just because it might be worth more, I just think it's nicer looking than a Gallardo. Cars are like art and everyone has a different visions. Also, older people grew up with older cars. Cheers

The vintage cars are rare making it difficult to obtain footage of them. I've been to several cars and coffee events in metro Atlanta and I rarely, if ever, see a vintage Lamborghini or Ferrari. I'd probably mark out if I did.

davide458italia It just seems to be otherwise on RU-vid. The people uploading car videos don't seem to give the vintage cars any attention, it's such a shame!
@qkslvr221
@qkslvr221 10 лет назад
I think many young people (and people on RU-vid in general) haven't driven cars old enough to know the raw driving experience. Some are impressed more with new features/numbers, and only comment on the sound at most for the classics. Those of us who own them rarely ever appreciate anything more!
@scd96

I think the vintage exotics don't get a lot of attention because it takes an enthusiast to like them. The brand new exotics are recognizable from rap videos or tv, whereas the most you see vintage ones are on car auctions. If you go up to a typical teenager and ask him about a Ferrari Enzo, he'll say something about it being expensive, whereas if you asked the same teen about a Ferrari 365 gtc/4, he'd look at you like you had 3 heads.
@DtRockstar1
@DtRockstar1 10 лет назад
***** lol It's true. I have a friend who likes a broad range of cars, and he has friends saying to him, "where the hell do you see all those exotics?" and it's just your typical Ferrari 360 or Lamborghini Gallardo. When he shows them a Miura, they respond like, "bah, that's just some old man's car." I love the newer cars, but a lot of them are like great songs that get played on the radio too much. We hear about them ALL the time.

this is great, not only have you become the go-to destination for me here on YT as far as American car culture, events etc are concerned, but also the special attention that you pay to vintage cars and exotics from the 70s and 80s is greatly appreciated! with all those channels that we have here on YT that mainly focus on the latest exotics and supercars, showing them in fancy locations like monaco, dubai, beverly hills etc. it is great to have someone like you, that has put a special focus on yesteryears' greats, the illustrious icons and legends, you know the ones that got our passion, fascination and love for cars started in the first place. that along with the locations that you visit and feature, such as Detroit (i love that city, and its, what i call "rough charm") and Chicago, make your work and channel a highly welcomed departure from the usual "fancy-schmancy"-type of car-related stuff that we get from the various YT-car channels. :)
@DtRockstar1
@DtRockstar1 10 лет назад
Thank you very much!! You've been such a strong supporter of my channel and I am very grateful for that. It's one thing I've noticed a lot on RU-vid, is that we are forgetting about the ancestors of the cars that are out today. The "latest and greatest" are getting all the attention and not enough credit is given to the cars they came from. I feel it's my job to help change that.
@TheMurlocTamer

I think the classics just aren't brought out as much, are harder to find, and the owners might not like people around the car as much because they're rarer.

I'm pretty sure that when it comes to car, new or vintage, exotics, sports & supersports etc., nothing can compete with the California state, also being the richest state from the USA, followed in the 2nd by TX and 3rd the NY... Great video!!!
@Service00
@Service00 10 лет назад
Big reason and the simplest reason why is because people, and by most "enthusiasts" are just after "shiny and new" cars, they can't appreciate the older ones because they can't compete with the obviously newer and faster ones

I think its because of: they are old, some not the best looking, some not super fast in speed or around a track. But mainly that they are old and not faster than modern day cars. Most of the newer generations are too focused on the modern day cars because of their exotic looks and high speed that they cant appreciate the slower, uglier ancestors.

cool video except i get a lil dizzy with the camera moving back & forth so quickly but MAN i loooovvvee all of those ol' exotics!! I especially love the bright all-white Countach's... WOW what a fantastic-looking classic!! The modern exotics are amazing at how well they perform & all of the technology packed into them but you can't deny the soul & charisma of the classic exotic... and they're all in one place at the same time, what an event that must've been!

@observingrogue7652
@observingrogue7652 8 лет назад
I think older exotics aren't as popular on the Internet, because most people online, are from the younger generations, and we know about the more recent exotics, because of movies & video games. So that's what we look for, and select online. But I'm interested in old vehicles from the 80s, and restoring & modifying them, to be as good, or better then their modern rivals' performance. Vehicles are getting worse, because of excessive computers, safety, and regulations, like thicker walls for airbags, and beautiful aerodynamic faces, being redesigned, to reduce pedestrian injury. How about people look both ways before they cross the street, and drivers pay attention to the road & their mirrors?
@observingrogue7652
@observingrogue7652 8 лет назад
I strongly believe everyone should learn how to race & drift their vehicles, so they can master them, and respect them. Instead of people mastering & respecting their vehicles, safety is taken care of, with extra airbags & computers. Antilock brakes, traction control, stability control, driver monitoring, and radar. If someone can't be alert, give their full attention to controlling their moving vehicle, and check their mirrors before turning, or opening a door, then they don't belong behind the fucking wheel or handlebar, Period.

Why do all Americans seem to put chrome wheels on their post 1990 supercars (seen some Lambo's in this clip and i've seen it in many other clips too, not to speak about the amount of chrome wheels on Corvettes and Vipers and older musclecars), over here in Europe you see people keeping their supercars as stock as possible. Is there a reason for that?
@DtRockstar1
@DtRockstar1 10 лет назад
This is just a calculated guess on my part. But it may be due to the fact that in America, many people from the baby boomer generation grew up with American Muscle Cars, which sported a lot of chrome. They may be taking that bit of nostalgia with them when they buy a European car. I'm not positive on that, but that's the first idea that came to mind.
@MrBodo1999
@MrBodo1999 10 лет назад
Thanks for the reply. What your'e saying sounds reasonable. I just realized watching this clip again that American cars from the 50's and 60's sounds an awful lot better than their European contemporaries.
@BuzzLOLOL
@BuzzLOLOL 10 лет назад
Drank Bak ... Yes, if they could just sound like American cars... deep, powerful rumble... instead of like vibrating loose sheet metal about to fall off... and I prefer the high tech, light weight look of aluminum/mag wheels... to chrome... and very little or no chrome on the engine, as well... chrome hoses? that's ridiculous...
