From the very beginning, I love how anime is considered as bizarre and otherworldly as the existence of ghosts.

Between the cryptids, parapsychological stuff, aliens, and Great Old One-esque weirdos, I tend to assume that Fallout operates on the basis of "our world, but if tons more weird shit were real".

On human robots: my theory was always that since radiation works different in the Fallout universe, it might somehow affect their circuits, similar to how ghouls are created. We know in real life that radiation can bit flip, causing rare programming errors.

Surprised you didn't mention that teleportation exists in Fallout New Vegas as well. Teleportation is how you are brought to, and return from, the Big MT. Potentially implying that teleportation was a pre-war secret technology, if the satellite was part of the system.

3:20 the timeline of fusion technology is a bit more wonky. The real question is whether Mass Fusion was the first company to make fusion technology, or whether it already existed but the company didn't know how to make it. Because *Fusion cores" already existed, and were in widespread use for the military across America. I don't think that the military, especially in Fallout, would be deceives by marketing. Plus, we know from the Recharger rifles in NV that nuclear breeder technology existed (search it up if you want specifics). So why wouldn't fusion tech exist before 2077?

I have come to realize the best part of fallout world building is not what they tell you but the parts they leave unexplained. It gives room for your imagination to fill in the blanks.

Weird u didnt mentioned curie on the robot part, she is a ms nanny who actively tries to "break out of her shell" and become human due the the lonelyness she felt, (with your help) she gets a sinth body, learn emotions such as love and humour, she is the very example we have of a pre war robot achieving humanity

I think the world of Fallout so closely resembling real life is what makes all of the whacky lore so much more entertaining than other series that are built around it. Often times real life is home to a lot of whacky and crazy stories as well, but most of the time they end up being fake or simply conspiracies and none of us have the time or resources in real life to research these topics. That is what makes Fallout so fun is that in a video game we all have the means to be our own private investigators of the game's universe and find its secrets.

My favorite example of robots developing beyond their personality programs has to be First Mate from 4. The fact that all the robots shown to have developed self awareness are ones that where designed to mimic emotions and complex social interactions like mr handy or the modified military robots kinda implied that they had to have a baseline programing for such things, and thats why i like First Mate. The fact hes a protectron, the stereotype of stupid robots in the wasteland that often dont have the logic to tell if a metro user should die for not having a ticket, or that mindlessly repeat the same 5 prerecorded messages means that there might be something going on more then just programming. Its subtle too, the only real indication of it is that hes distrustful of the sole survivor and attempts to go aginst his own programming to follow the captains orders, something that should be impossible for such a basic robot. Hes still just as monitone as the other protectrons but under his police badge and blue paint i can swear theres something else going on.

Fallout is home to some of the weirdest and wackiest things and it makes it my favorite game series And this channel makes my game experience 10 times better

Basically a hand-held teleportation device. 😲👍 I wish we could have done a Part 2 to get Ironside and the Constitution into the bay. It is hilarious to see it take of and crash into another building. But we can go to the Baxter Buildimg and talk with Ironside, wherein he gives us a hat like his, and I believe full access to the Captain's Quarters (meaning a Player Home, and the items in the room, at least, are not listed as 'stealing'). It is sad that when we see him, he doesn't ask us to come back later after they have assessed the new damages and try to repair the ship again. After which it successfully enters the Bay. Did you know, on the note of nuclear power (specifically fission), that we can actually recycle the waste and keep using it until the half life is far more manageable? The research lost funding when the US government started closing down all the nuclear reactors and defunding nuclear research because everyone became scared of it. But fusion is still going to take at least a couple years till fully clean energy. So we should reopen all the fission reactors and recycle all that waste until then

Aside from teleporting to and from the institute, isnt the fast travel on the pipboy just walking there without actually having to physically? Like when you fast travel from the west of the map to the far east, the time it would take to walk there still passes.

Flight is really not that hard, a rudimentary understanding of physics and decent mechanical skills can easily build a small airplane or powered glider if you can find any kind of engine.

Teleportation is one thing. Teleportation of a human and retaining consciousness is something even more fantastic.

Don’t forget how time travel is the canonical reason why the Master’s plan was foiled, as the chosen one from Fallout 2 finds a time gateway to Vault 13 and presses some buttons, accidentally breaking the water chip in the process

Imagine how much more quickly America would have recovered if Vault-tec just did what they were meant to and built every vault as a control vault.

Did anyone else notice what Old Ironsides says at the end? "One quarter fathom closer to the ocean". He uses the wrong term of measurement. Fathom is depth. Not distance. It pokes fun at those that thought 20,000 leagues was how deep the Nautilus traveled.

2:07 I mean it makes sense that fusion took so long to discover in fallout. Had it been discovered sooner the resource wars wouldn’t have happened. In typical fallout fashion, too little progress was done too late, and the great war inevitably broke out.

I've had this theory since Fallout 4: Robert House was raised / mentored by Lorenzo Cabot, a centuries old explorer who has an ancient alien device stuck to his head and is the likely leader of the dunwich cults (later develops into the children of atom). House founds Robco and uses the tech to steal data from as many top secret military projects as possible. His foremost interest was preserving his mind and legacy, and as we can probably guess the Synth program was the winning candidate. Using multiple means to deliver copies of his scanned consciousness (Gunners, Kellogg, and Enclave) House is able to barter lie and steal his way into multiple copies. He steals data from the CIA database (the switchboard) and exposes the Railroads Safe House network to cover his escape. When Zimmerman follows him to the Capital Wasteland, House uses synths he reprogrammed to assassinate the Lyon's Pride, framing the institute and plunging the east coast into conflict. (Personally I like to think House killed Zimmerman all the way back in sanctuary and took his coursers with an override code, posing as him to have access to enclave, railroad, and institute assets as he heads back west. The power grid wasn't to keep the lights on in vegas, its to power up something much more important, say an ancient alien city the cabots head back west to explore! Thats right, House took over Lorenzos plans to destroy the world and use it as a means to make himself immortal while jumpstarting a zetan mothership beneath Black Mountain, the suspected new BoS Mojave chapter site after the destruction of Hidden Valley (Veronica Becomes West Coast Elder or supports Maxsons leadership but I think a rivalry is imminent between their ideologies).

for codsworths and curies a.i. becoming self aware it makes complete sense. an a.i that was programmed to take orders spent 200 years completely alone. with no orders to take and being completely alone it would likely start to just do things (because what else do you do) slowly etching out some semblance of personality.

Fast travel isn’t teleportation, if you have a settler with a quest, move it to another settlement then monitor the movement on the map while fast traveling, there is a passage of time.

If you can suffer, you are human. By this definition, Muggy is the most human robot in the fallout universe.

We don't really know if Mothman in the game is supposed to be the same mothman as from prewar times. They have some pretty significant appearance differences.

If ya wanna get technical: robots and humans aren’t very different. If you have a learning AI it technically can be considered sentient because, even for humans, all responses, actions, etc, is just a process of information to which the brain (or computer) tells the body how to react. How to feel.

One thing that comes to mind for me are the giant insects o fallout. The insects I can think of, radroaches, bloatflys, radscorpians, and giant ants couldn't exist in our millennium but could have earlier in history when the oxygen levels in earth's atmosphere were higher. I guess it's just one more thing to add to the list, unless this is one of those things that can be explained away with radiation

About the vault 22, the Mushroom that turn i to zombies...this is an ACTUAL occurence in real life. Thise mushroom dont do that to human. But you can find insect and other small wild life being infected by them. It start by changing their behaviour...and then the muahroom grow. The host turn feral, then crazy, then they have convultion...and ultimatly dies. After the death of the host, the mushroom grow over the body of the host ready to infect another victim. Its terrifying and true. Look it up! :)

technological developments surrounding the industrial revolution, aswell as gas and oil powered machines would be the only form of technology affected. as we see that it was starting to be enitrley replaced with fusion and fission. any technology that could not be modifed in some way with the advancements of fusion or fision would not have been affected. things like a teleporter, desighns for advanced military technology, or otherwise great forms of tech wouldnt be limited by the fact their using fusion. whether or not you have a oil based generator or a nuclear fusion reactor powering the teleporter doesnt matter as long as the teleporter is powered and desighned. furthermore, fallout takes places years in the future, where the only thing different in technological advancments is that they actually has larger sources of power, fusion reactors, and little codes of ethics. the molecular relay is said to use radio waves to transport people, seemingly, and somehow, turning their matter into soundwaves wich can be then broadcasted to a location, like a radio signal. music is already a huge focus in the fallout universe, and nothing about this processs would be inhibited by lack of computers or a combustion engine. things like super computers are easily explained by the fact that in the fallout universe, the internet wouldve been a ABSOLUTLEY revolunary piece of technology. where did the internet start? as a connection of super computers across the east coast america. given that the internet isnt really a thing in prewar fallout, its easy to say that this line of technology wich WOULD become the internet, became the various artificial intelligence programs across the united states.

FO 76 also has Teleportation. And it was known pre-war, that some AI's had Artificial consciousness... they was also bored and depressed. the Advancement came from Alien tech, the Government salvaged. there is a quest to recover a brain made with alien tech, you the AI can use a robobrain body.
