Its funny i just thought about something.. Directory websites are like TV channels. They provide value, by showing you movies, series or shows and at the same time they are making you into a consumer of advertisements. Directory websites and social networks work by the exact same principles - Provide value and then at the same time make the user of the platform into a consumer - This can be a consumer of anything that brings value to the opposite part of your directory or social network site, eg. advertisement consumption, leadgeneration etc. :)

Hi James. Unfortunately, no. There are several online services that sell contact lists for specific industries which you can them import into your Brilliant Directories website via a .csv file.

Do you think it is possible to get a bulk of business listings for your directory website? If yes, do you think it’s better to do that or start from scratch and allow businesses to manually enter their business photos, opening hours etc? Thanks

Hi Rina. Great question! There are websites that sell contact lists which you can purchase and import into your website. This can be useful for "claim listing" business models. Otherwise, we don't typically recommend going this route. It can give your website the appearance of being active, but often times the lists are outdated and/or inaccurate, it's a spammy tactic, and most importantly Google looks at it as a black hat and inorganic tactic.

How do you think a competitive bid-site could work with BD? Like the Name Your Price Tool on Progressive Insurance? Sort of a reverse lead-matching? Name Your Price Haircut/oil change/car wash. The user names their price and it could be emailed to members and if one of the members wants to do a $10 haircut/oil change/car wash, they are matched.

Great idea! You can surely add a field to the lead form where the person can enter their preferred price for a project, then professionals can respond with their best price or accept the person's original price.

Hi Kyu. Thanks for your interest in Brilliant Directories! Our themes only change some of the design settings. All of the features remain the same regardless of which theme you choose. You can simply go with whichever theme you like best and then further tweak the design settings from there.
