Not surprised to hear this latest news. Over the years that Ruby was making videos it was obvious to see how she was abusive in many ways; her own obsession over diet and weight would cause her to cook meals that were of very very small portions for all of them! Often times it was oatmeal not just for breakfast but, for lunch and dinner because she was too busy with her own interests! She scolded and ridiculed her children in those videos, she taped videos on the girls first menstrual cycle to have them involved to show what underwear packages they purchased, and same for their first bra-shopping where you could see the girls were exploited, embarrassed, and did not want to be in the video! Chad was forbidden to have privacy in the bathroom whereas the door was removed for the bathroom he was assigned! This action and him being told he had to sleep on the floor was a punishment that lasted over several months! Also, if the children were hungry inbetween their meals they had to find their own ways to purchase and Shari would do this for them because they were hungry! Their punishment for things that were so trite was excessive! Birthday and Christmas gifts were often withheld as punishment! Also, Ruby often appeared on screen as if she suffered from forgetfulness when it required her attendance for events the children were to attend - she would be late! If it was for medical appointments - she would be late! One video actually showed that she had no idea where the doctor’s office was, as she drove around several streets trying to locate it yet had no address to go by! Another video showed her insisting that the girls model their new school clothes and again, so obvious the girls did not want to be in the video! The mom was definitely tight with the money to spend on her kids, but quite extravagant with her own wardrobe spending! The less she spent on her children, the more she could spend on herself! She pitted each child against the other from often scolding severely Chad or Russell in front of their sisters! The worst videos of course were the day Eve was suppose to make her own lunch the night before (or the morning of) and I believe she was six or seven yrs of age, and she forgot! Apparently, Ruby as the mom was conveniently asleep while her children had to ready themselves for school with each child having a different schedule none to notice Eve left home with no lunch. When Eve’s lunchtime occurred at school her teacher phoned Ruby to tell her that Eve forgot her lunch, and could Ruby bring it, or the teacher said she would pay for Eve’s lunch, and Eve could bring the money the next day. Ruby abruptly got quite upset with the teacher, and she told the teacher she refused to bring Eve a lunch, and it was Eve’s responsibility to make her own lunch, and she was adamant to insist that the teacher respect her wishes that Eve not be fed that day so she would “learn” her lesson! What is so sad about all of this is - for all the wrongdoing Ruby could do, she never was punished herself for her failures! Her children’s birthdays were not priorities - she often waited til the day of to be concerned, and then she would have Shari do most of the gift wrapping or to go make purchases because Ruby was too busy writing her book on how to be a good parent!?!? Most of their presents were always on the basic things that a parent should purchase anyway. One child needed new towels in their bathroom and so instead of the mom just buying them as a household expense, she had them wrapped and given as a birthday present…with a lecture on how to take better care of the towels! There was money for her trips to the hairdressers for cuts and coloring, and money for getting her brows done, purchasing not just clothing, but matching hats and handbags while her children dressed in clothing that made them all look like Walton’s Mountain! All their clothing was hand-me-downs, through the entire family to pass around, but here we have a woman admitting she earned MILLIONS, and her children were deprived of so much! Not just food, for barely was enough cooked for any of them to reach out for second helpings when even the first helping was so small, but the total embarrassment was that all their classmates were privy to see how badly they were treated. I can’t even imagine the trauma this caused for all of them when they would be mocked at school! Horrendous life of having a mother that definitely has severe mental issues regarding how to treat her own children. As far as the dad goes; either he is and was controlled so much by Ruby that he became blind to all that was happening right under his nose! He came across so passive when he should of been an advocate for his children! Perhaps, and it’s only a guess, his interests were away from home, away from his children, and quite possibly not doting on his wife which made her Head If Household to crack the whip and she took her anger and sadness from her husband’s neglect with her, out on the children! Russell is a normal child doing normal things. Yet, when it concerned punishing him, it was the extreme! I believe any attention even bad attention is what this child was seeking because with mommie only interested in her self, her book, her wanting perfection out of her slave children, and daddy too consumed with work…this is how he got attention. Exactly the same applies for Chad! My heart goes out to all these children, and how brave that Russell escaped, and how brave that Shari spoke up in defense of her siblings! I pray authorities place these children with either one set of aunt or uncle, or to be placed where the oldest daughter, Shari, believes they should go so each child will be loved for who they are, and not for them to perform like trained monkeys or controlled like puppets at the risk of their safety! All the children are malnourished! All the children have been severely traumatized for many, many years!
Excellent summary!! Kevin often hosted his students for barbecue or pizzas and the food was overflowing, but their kids received miniscule amounts of food, if any! Kids grow and they need a balanced diet, but that never seemed to happen. The people on YTube who called her out, were often sent threatening letters from Ruby's attorney! And look where she is now! If the authorities only listened much much earlier, those kids might have been rescued much earlier. And Kevin was complicit. The abuse started long before Ruby met Jodie too. It just escalated even further when those two psychopaths met!!
I've seen some of the 8 Passengers clips and it seems Shari grew up too fast, she was almost like the mother of her siblings And it's sad that some of the viewers labelled her as a "Karen" she doesn't deserve that title She's a mature and smart young lady and I'm so glad she reconnected with her aunts and hope she has proper mother figures in her life to guide her
There is a clip with them where Shari “causes a scene” at the airport and Ruby calls her a karen, sides with the agent, before doing the body check “for her daughter”. Knowing what happened now and how some of the past things were scripted, its very likely it was all scripted, which would be messed up because should have purposely made her kid look bad and to make Ruby look wonderful.
Ruby will never feel bad about anything she’s done. She might act like she does IF she thinks it’ll get her out of jail or a reduced sentence, but she will never genuinely have empathy for her children. She is incapable.
Bonnie Hollman, one of her sisters, has a youtube channel similar to 8 Passengers but over the last year there has been a positive change in Bonnie where she isn't as strict as she originally was and has grown as a parent. Instead of listening to her sisters, Ruby is now in jail on felony child abuse charges.
Makes me sad. I'd do anything to have a relationship with my daughter. Ruby should count herself lucky and blessed that her daughter wants to have her mom in her life.
Yea and being in that “group” or cult as I call it ruined her kids lives forever. She’s going to continue to believe in that group even when In jail. I hope they give her enough years in jail so that she’s unable to have anymore kids when she’s released

Religion is one of the scariest concepts ever to exist, because people can be convinced to do the most evil, cruel, sadistic things in the name of it…and no matter how logical you are, no matter how ethical you are, no matter how kind or good you are, no matter how much evidence you present that they are wrong, you will never be able to convince them that they are the bad one. They will always think that they are on the side of righteousness, because they are doing what their cult preaches. It’s so incredibly frightening.
I identify as spiritual and I’m LDS and I get shunned by my fellow members for converting to spiritualism and becoming an inactive member. I’m a Christian Mormon (yes we exist) I’m not one of the cultish members. I’m one of the Christian members and got shunned because I’m not religious.

Christianity is a religion, by every actual and academic definition of the term. Mormonism is also a branch of Christianity, and is considered as such by mainstream society, academia, and theologians alike.
And I agree. I had a 70 yr old woman, who I took care of during the last 7 months. She was a Christian who judged everyone and wished death on her neighbor. She was and probably still is full of the devil. I never in my whole career, seen anyone so negative and it was bad.

I honestly feel like her kids leaving is only making her go deeper and deeper within the cult and Ruby really seems unfazed about her family falling apart. I really hope Shari can at least regain her relationship with her dad if it’s true that Kevin & Ruby broke up and he moved out.
No way. He is just as guilty and toxic as his ex-wife. He also horrifically and brutally punished the children. The kids should stay with their aunts and cut both their parents out of their lives. I grew up with a mother like that. Both parents deserve prison. I’m in my thirties now and I’m still affected by psychological and physical issues from the abuse I experienced in my childhood. Even if the mother was the mastermind, the dad abused the kids alongside her. He still encouraged her and supported her and did not oppose her. He stood against the children instead of against her. Screw him. The longer the kids have those two in their lives the more screwed up they will be.

Wow.. this is interesting to watch this after what has all come out. How tragic for these children.. that family members.. children, aunts etc.. all knew what was going on... were no doubt reporting to CPS and the Police.. and nothing was done to stop the abuse and remove the children. At some point, CPS needs to be held responsible too...
I wonder how old the rest of the kids are going to be when they leave as well. At 1st I thought Ruby was a great mom, but as I continue to watch it I noticed that she wasn’t. Well I'd be careful about her mom's side of the family though, i bet they have mental issues and clearly what they think is strict behavior is actually abuse. But the fact that they don't see it that way is sick. And i don't know if that daughter is actually getting the real good mentally healthy help that she needs with them.
Ruby's sisters are all family vloggers. They exploit their children as well. I think they could have done more since they admit they that they had concerns . They all have a strong social media platform . They could have done more .

Agreed. As an inactive member of the LDS church and as a Christian Spiritualist, it breaks my heart this happened to these children. I’m beyond angry. I left the church and Christianity for spiritualism a long time ago.

What will they do? Cops where constantly called and CPS and they found no evidence of child abuse. Nothing anyone can do there. You can’t just take away someone’s kids away without Law enforcement or Child Protective Services.

Yes it is true Kevin had moved out of the family home. They may still be married as Kevin had wedding ring on. Some do because they still love that person. Now Kevin has gone back into the home. If he had the key he could have gone in sooner and seen the state of the house. Eg being boarded up. And that front door. Then he may have seen the kids. For whatever reason he didn't see them all he may have gotten them to safety?
