8 Players Ejected After Rangers vs. Devils Brawl 2 Seconds Into the Game | NHL on TNT 

For non hockey people with questions: Rempe(73 blue) threw a bad hit on one of the Devils players last time they played, and refused to fight when MacDermid(23 white) tried to get him after. The Devils weren't happy about that so tonight Travis Green(Devils Coach) started his most physical players, and Peter Laviolette (Rangers coach) responded in kind. What you see in the video is the result of that 10 times out of 10, especially when the teams are rivals who just played a physical 7 games series in the playoffs last year.

My 2 year old watches the first few minutes of sports with me every night before he goes to bed. When the fights started he was confused and then shaking his finger telling them "no, no!" By the end of it, he had the biggest smile on his face and asked for more. So we rewound the tape and watched it again. And he asked for more. I explained that only hockey players are allowed to fight but I'm worried about daycare today...

You're not allowed to have a good, old-fashioned 5-on-5 line fight anymore? What the hell?

There needs to be a Montage with the best footage of all DEVILS Vs. Rangers Line Brawls '92, '96, '12, & now '24. Maybe even an NHL Docu-Series type release players & coaches talking about it & any old footage of players/coaches talking about it. Pete Deboer & Torts going at each other was awesome.

Rempe loses just about every fight he is in. Not sure what the big deal is about him. He can't even fight. And I've been a ranger's fan since the 70's. Now Nick Fotiu? That was a fighter.

Camera work was pretty piss-poor. With something like this, you need a wide angle to detail everything going on.

Joey Kocur absolutely did not lose a wink of sleep when he played before a game when he knew he would have to fight. Kelly Chase probably did but not Kocur.

There were no secondary fights, they all happened at the same time. Throwing 8 guys out is further proof of the pussification of the NHL.

That Rempe guy is still around? At 6'8" he should be destroying people in fights like Jon Scott He loses more than he wins. And he has what? 1 or 2 goals?. No way the NYR dress that guy in the playoffs if they are serious about winning a Cup.

Wow, when I saw Tierney and Goodrow taking the faceoff I thought they were gonna go 😂 Too bad, would’ve been funny to watch cuz they were buddies in San Jose a few years back. Goodrow just immediately grabbed another Devil and went at it cuz he knew Tierney is too nice of a guy and their wives would probably scold them for fighting .

I’ve been a Rangers fan my whole life and was rooting for Rempe when he joined the team, but this fighting is old. I’m not a fight hater either, I love seeing it sometimes, but it’s excessive now. First of all, the Devils had every right to defend themselves after what Rempe did. In their previous game against the Devils, the way Rempe got off the ice waving to them was so childish. He also signed a photo of the fight he got into that game which was not cool at all. Second, the Rangers’ 4th line is NEVER on the ice first. Now Rempe conveniently comes back when they’re against the Devils and he’s on the ice to start? The coaches knew what they were doing and it looks bad. They set it up because fans and media were hyping up a possible fight. I wanted to give Rempe the benefit of the doubt since he’s young and needs more experience, but the Rangers are frontrunners to win a Stanley Cup and he’s going to taint it for them with this BS. Miller and Goodrow got involved too which shocked me, they never fight and are better than that.

Rempe is a clown show now. Not many more seasons left

I seem to remember the NHL adding a rule about "two players fighting without either of them attempting to play the puck" ie directly off the faceoff for the sole purpose of mashing each others faces in, being a Game Misconduct, for basicly mutual instigating, because the NHL wanted situations like this out of the game. So, once again, the refs dont know the rules and should have kicked all ten players out of the game, not just the eight secondary fighters, or I'm wrong and the NHL removed that rule, which is highly unlikely, and the refs do know the rules after all, which is also highly unlikely.

For his size and reach, Rempe is the worst enforcer I've ever seen. Judging from the beatings he continues to take, I think CTE has set in early and if he doesn't wise up, his life span will be even shorter than the 10 year difference between enforcers and other NHL players.

MacDermid's and Rempe's fight was understandable. Today rewatching this I'm still trying to figure out the reason for the other 4.

Rangers would sweep us this season. But seeing Kurtis MacDermid mess up Rempe was worth it.

Getting thrown out for trying to tie up an opposing player so he can't get involved in the original fight is one of the dumbest rules in recent years.
