bit.ly/3oSAYmy Buying a Used Scooter Precaution Steps
When purchasing a scooter from a previous owner, there are a lot of consideration and planning that you have to do in order to prevent any costly mistakes down the line. The older and cheaper the scooter the more of a chance that the used scooter is not a diamond in the rough. The maintenance cost of a used scooter can outweigh the cheap purchase price. For instance, the tires and batteries are costly replacement items that can wear out prematurely. So before handing over your money a stranger, these are the thing you need to check for...

1. Is the scooter a well known brand - some scooters cannot be repaired and parts are not available.
2. Check the tires, do they still have good tread and pay attention to any uneven wear. This may indicate a steering or alignment problem that cannot be fixed. Or ever the owners driving habits such as burn outs.
3. Is the seat firm and cushioned - a worn or sloppy can make you feel uncomfortable and unsafe while riding.
4. Are switches and signals functional - check lights, indicators speed variations work. Lack of flashing lights on the controls can indicate a potential problem(such as bad bulbs, poor battery, or electrical wiring issues.)
5. Check the scooters stopping ability forward, backward and on a slope.(This can be done walking beside the scooter, gripping it with both hands) -
6. Ride the scooter, is it comfortable, does it feel safe? If you feel uncomfortable on the scooter, or driving the scooter makes you tired and causes you pain then you won't use the scooter and it is a waste of money no matter how cheap it is.
7. Does the scooter come with a manual.
8. Learn its history - Before hand over you money ask about any maintenance history. When was the scooter last serviced. As well as any possible finder binder or collision history.
If all checks out in these areas and safe and comfortable the scooter and the deal. Then congrats on your new used scooter.

Just bought my son a used 2019 Tao Tao Beatbox 50cc scooter for Christmas. This little thing is so fun. I rode it around a bit before buying it and being 6'3" i felt like a demoted hells angel on it but who cares. Hes going to love this little thing. Not bad for $200

GREAT TIPS. , Also, when buying any used vehicle, I want to start it cold, and tell the seller before I come to test ride. Acceleration is a good rule of thumb for most vehicles, but on the scooter, it may just be a worn belt. It's always good to pull the oil dipstick and examine the oil for thickness, color, particles.

I don’t know where you are but my rear tire on my 150 click was $30 and the battery was $45. US dollar quote. These were replacements after 4 years. Not bad

I just gave $900 for a new one . It's a Jiejue . While I've put a little over 400 miles in it with no problems . I get the feeling I may regret it later . It was marketed as a " Vittaci Viper . Vittaci is no where on vehicle or paperwork . It does have a metal plate saying it's a Jiejue . I have read as far as the cheap scooters go it's not bad .

Yeah, they change this manufacturing names to better market to international customers. Different names depending on what country that export the scooters too. That way it easiest to pronounce and the words sound more familiar to that foreigner. Yeah, as long as you maintain routine maintenance, you should be able get your money's worth out of it and then some.

@@RamenOnWheels ,I've changed oil twice during break in . At 362 miles I changed to Amsoil scooter syn . And gear oil to Amsoil gear oil . I'm figuring 400 - 500 miles between oil changes . Gear oil change I figure 800-1000 mile changes . One thing is for certain they are fun . Hoping in spring to have a bigger cc scooter and do some traveling .

@@RamenOnWheels , have no idea yet . I'm live in Southwest VA . It's getting cold . By spring time I hope to have some ideas . I also may just get a motorcycle instead. Depends on what's available ,what I can afford ECT . The bigger Japanese scooters are nice . Don't think I'll do anymore order online and put together deals . My gas gauge doesn't work. The place I ordered bike from assured me that they would send a sensor , but I'd have to go through email. 2 emails came back . They gave me another email , never heard from them . I'm waiting for daylight to install float sensor I ordered at my own experience . I would highly recommend this place if not for that . Thanks again .

Thanks for this. I have no experience with them and demand is super high. I was trying to avoid buying at dealer markup (over $1000 in Fl) but it seems like I should just wait and save up more.

Honestly I rather buy one in a store because buying online can be risky sometimes and shipping damage could also happen
