Thank you for your thoughtful takes on each of these games and for showing the primitive nature of today's cooking games. Compared to other game genres, this one looks like it's stuck in the stone ages. Most of them could have been released in 2003, and there's been little to no evolution in food details and sound simulations of food cooking. I hope someday there will be an actual AAA cooking game with ridiculous levels of realism thrown into it. For me, cooking games are about the look of the food and the sounds of cooking. They're relaxing - and can also be challenging if they're timed. I have no idea why they don't make a "Bear" type cooking game where you're working with PS5 levels of realism.
I enjoyed playing cook serve delicious. I've also played the sequel to it. I actually don't like time management games. But at least in this game you get to kind of actually cook and put together the food with some nice sound effects. I wish there was a happy medium to these games because it seems like they only ever get them half right. With Cook Serve Delicious 2 the food items get to be way too complicated and having 10 seconds to tend to 15 different orders that each have multiple cooking steps along with over 3 pages of different ingredients you have to assemble was just too much for me to recommend this game. Despite that it's probably the best of the bunch when it comes to this genre. IMO of course. (the Mexican menu and the sandwich shop menu can be insane) I actually had more fun when all I had to do was make hot dogs and basic pizza's then I had on most of the much harder content in both versions. But the game also just falls flat because it lacks any sort of progressive goals. There's very little reason to make money because there's not much to spend it on. The rewards you get are usually just decorative that you don't really get to see anyways lol. Like I said, all of these cooking games just don't have a great well rounded playing experience. Honestly, I've had more fun with Hay Day lol.
