I love cats. Several times when visiting friends/acquaintances homes I've been told their cat doesn't like strangers and won't come to me. I always say that's OK, it's the cat's decision and ignore the cat. The owners are so surprised when their cat comes to me.
I've noticed that cats tend to approach the men in my family more than women and some men more than others. Based on this, I have a few more theories you didn't mention: 1. Deeper, rumbly voices may be more attractive to some cats. I think it may remind them of purring. Especially if they lay on the chest of someone with a deep voice. 2. They might like scruffy chins from shaving. My cat likes rubbing against my husband or dad's faces but does not do that to me or other women. 3. Physical warmth is a huge bonus. Cats may even tolerate you being slightly annoying if you're also warm. If you have cold hands like me, you're outta luck. 4. It helps if you hold still. Movements can startle them. There's nothing my cat loves more than someone who has nodded off on the couch haha

I have always been a cat magnet, likely because I perspire a lot. The funniest story was our feral siamese. After somehow avoiding our cameras for several attempts to see him on our part. One night I was standing outside when he showed up. He was walking from my wife and I. Being silly, I said,"Hey you, get over here." To our amazement, he did exactly that. He eventually became a very lovable lap cat for me, and nobody else.

I have live cats since a child❤ Cats just show up at my house, have 5 right now. Some are friendly and others very scared. With time, patience, and love and of course food they become part of the family. ❤❤❤😂😂😂
Cats & kittens always love me as i love them ive had many people say to me my cat doesn't like anyone but loves you sometimes they get upset & wish there furbaby would love them as much i say spend more quality time with them ❤️
Met a hairless cat for the first time at a customer's house. She was a sweet little thing with the cutest meow, and she'd pop in occasionally to watch us unwrap furniture. 😊
we stepped into a rescue center last week and an eight-month-old jumped on my shoulder. a four-week-old began following me everywhere I went while we were there, we had intended to adopt one, but after being "chosen" like that we didn't have the heart to say no to either [one of our adult cats is eighteen, and we don't want the other to mourn if something happens with the other] as she did when one of the adults who raised her died of cancer when she was one [it was heartbreaking to watch her wander through our house crying and looking for her "mom" [she was barely five weeks old when she came to us to foster until she was old enough to be adopted, we failed as foster parents because she liked to climb up to my neck and snuggle into my waist long hair she only weighed a pound so this didn't hurt; so we couldn't give her up, we are lucky to have enough room for all of them and they've been getting along great, thank goodness
i need to be demagnetized. There are about 25 tame to semi-tamed and 25 feral cats here. With buying 200+ lbs of cat food a month i only have the bugget left to get 2 males and 2 females fixed per month. i live in a rural area with very little interest in adoption and they are reproducing faster than i can keep up. This is my own personal hell 😿 !:-(
Call your local shelter and ask for contact information for the nearest TNR program. My parents had strays and their local program provided the traps and surgeries for free! Now the cats are living their best lives on their property... but without reproducing!
I have joked since my daughter was two that she is a Disney Princess because of the way cats have always followed her around. They arent even her cats! When she was in elementary school her walks to and from the bus were always accompanied by the majority of a feral cat colony that lived in the area. We have moved several times since then and somehow the cats just magically pop up around her. Many starving or injured cats show up at our doorstep and refuse to leave. They will sit outside and cry until we relent and bring them inside. I have become an unofficial cat doctor over the last 19 years of living with said Disney Princess and of the hundreds of cats that we have saved or come in contact with.... we have managed to only keep seven. Although every single one stole our hearts... these seven bonded deeply with us and each other. They recognize all of us as family and are very protective of each other and their humans while also being really open and chill towards the newcomers that are temporarily in our lives. I dont know how my daughter does it. It might be the sweaty part. Cats loved the smell of her stinky feet as a little little girl.
Cats and dogs are attracted to me it's a gift that i was born with this gift. When i go for a walk, the cat would come running up to me and demand i pet them. The same goes for dogs they start pulling their own to get to me while wagging their tails.

All my life I have heard cats can not see red, but my experience with cats has shown me otherwise. One of my cats was obsessed with red pieces. Anything small enough for her to carry, if it was red, she would steal it and hide it behind the couch. I would often dump a big bucket of Lego out to play with the kids. When we moved the couch we would find handfuls of red Lego, no other colors. She was clearly selecting only the red Lego from a random pile that had identical pieces in dozens of different colors. One of the cats I have now loves red straws. She will steal red straws from a cup. If you have a straw of any other color she will ignore it.
I'm a cat magnet for sure. If I were to have a cat come up to me, I'd rub my fingers with my thumb to give a scent that he or she might like. I let it sniff my hand and it'll let me pet it.
According to our local humane society; people tend to not adopt black cats. adult cats, or bonded pairs [littermates or cats raised togetherso if you want to save lives, look for an adult bonded pair of black cats [they have three"strikes" against them and are more likely than others to be euthanized; but don't go in October, as they are concerned that black cats may be adopted to go with a costume and abandoned after Halloween, we have adopted five black cats [four were pairs] and they have all been lovely pets, very loving, affectionate, and healthy [we had a tuxedo pair that died at twenty and twenty-one
