I don't own an airstream but i did buy a new travel trailer in 2018. Last year, about half of the pex tube fittings started leaking. I fixed them but I'm not sure they're all they're hyped up to be. Easier for the installer but they dont seem to last. Good luck down the road and im jealous of your lifestyle!

Nothing worse than leaking piping! We’ve spent our fair share of late nights squeezing into tight spaces fixing them. Safe travels Jeff!

Things do break and I fix them. I have 2020 FC 27 Hatch. Manufactured pre covid. It's my second AS that I've owed.I have replace the City Water inlet 3 times because of leaks. The final fix was to replace the regulator portion of the city water inlet with a back flow valve and regulate the water pressure prior to entering the AS. I even tried regulating the city water inlet before using the back flow valve. Water leaks are the enemy and they are taken care of until the next one.

Good job guys! We bought a used 2016 27FB International (ring a bell?) and we love it. However, we did opt for the smaller dog option (14 lbs of Wonder Dog!). Perfect! My wife just retired, we sold our house and we’re heading for somewhere. We’ll know it when we get there although the direction seems to change frequently. As Dale Evans often said “ Happy Trails to you!”

You purchased your unit used and do not know how well it was/wasn’t taken care of. Did previous owner slow down on rough roads, etc. Here’s my list : mesh washing machine lint screen and mini zip ties. Attach to bottom of ac drainage hose. Squeegee- use on shower walls and inside shower door after showering. It’s amazing how much water 🚿 collects. Removing immediately reduces condensation/humidity. Use a small ceramic heater with door closed to dry out quickly. Keep on rving!
@ALittleBitUnhitched
@ALittleBitUnhitched 2 года назад
Thanks for the comment and the list! Never would have thought about the mesh over the AC drainage hose. Makes sense to keep critters out. For condensation issues, we also run a dehumidifier which has REALLY helped.
@wanderingstar5673
@wanderingstar5673 2 года назад
@@ALittleBitUnhitched glad I could help- get a squeegee and do the interior of the shower once and you will always do it after you see the volume of water that rolls off. I do the ceramic heater in extreme humidity or in winter. Don’t have to leave the vent fan open so long.

Instead of having the propane tank filled some people use the exchange system where you leave yours and take a full one. You have to watch the date on the one you're picking up. I only do this when mine is about to expire and you grab a newer one.

Sam and Lauren, thanks again, another crazy nutty fun video! 🤣 Our son and wife just bought a 2013 23’ the Fantastic fan over bed stopped working 2 days after we brought it home. Someone said it might be the push pin when it opens is stuck in the down or compressed position, we need to check. As to having to get new LP tanks, I replaced our 30lb tanks by ordering 2 at Lowes for $89 each Me on the other had bought a 1999 19’ Bambi in early 2000. We celebrated 21 years in May. My suggestion to our son is, when something breaks try to find a superior quality part even if its a screw you have to replace, so you don’t have to replace or repair again, at least soon. Keep up that energy you too have. If you could bottle it you would be Billionaires! 😊

Joe, do you leave this nice of comments on everybody’s videos because we are starting to feel really special! 😂 Thanks for sharing your perspective on this. Really good advice per usual. One follow up question… Did you ever consider just getting those propane tanks re-inspected rather than buying new?
@Joe-cu4hi
@Joe-cu4hi 2 года назад
@@ALittleBitUnhitched i did get them inspected after they expired. Ours had a 15 year date stamped on them and the inspection got us another 5 years. So after 20 years I thought it would be safer to just get new ones. $89 each did not break the bank. And we fill at Costco near home. Its a flat fee of $16 so we wait till they are super empty then fill them. And you guys are so lovable I can only express what you two dish out 😂

I can't speak to Airstream quality back in the day, all I know is that I took delivery on my 2022 Flying Cloud 25RBT late October 2021 and then following occurred: During her maiden voyage the arm that controls the lid on the front fantastic fan closed to tight broke itself away from the lid (I believe this happened before delivery, but some people at an AS dealership that will remain nameless disagree). Cue service center to sell and install (2) Max Air Covers for approx $575. Then, on our second voyage, on day 1 of 8 to the middle of Nowhereville, the water pump would not pump. Didn't really care why, I just wanted to flush, so we drove 50 miles to buy a new one and replaced it ourselves. During a torrential downpour on the same trip, it began raining INSIDE the Airstream. Water was steadily dripping at the back panorama window where the inside shell meets the window frame. In a genius moment, was able to make it stop by putting towels all over the outside of rear corner area where dripping was happening. This was able to wick the water away from where the entry point was and the leaking stopped. We haven't been in rain again yet to know if (when/how) this is going to happen again. After that there seemed to be a break in the breaking until a few weeks ago when the lid arm on the back fantastic fan broke itself free from the lid. In conclusion, I still love our Airstream and wouldn't give it up for anything. I just wish my expectations weren't quite so high going in. As Sam stated, it is still a trailer, and it does experience violent earthquakes on every adventure. Also, these are handmade by humans. I haven't met a human yet who wasn't prone to error at some point in time. However, the standard for inspections at the mothership could stand to be increased just a bit. Thank you Sam and Lauren for another great video!

Jamie! Sorry to hear everything that you’ve been dealing with. I can’t image not having a functional water pump after planning a big boondocking trip! Yikes! Especially with a brand new trailer. Double yikes! Big leaks? Triple yikes! Hopefully Airstream can hook you up with some warranty work if anything major is needed. Fingers crossed that the kinks are worked out and when we meet on the road someday we can share a drink and some stories. Great video! We have a 2021 Flying Cloud 25 FBQ and quality has been pretty good. There seems to be more things breaking than our previous trailer a 2019 Lance 1995. The roads we have traveled have also been in need of maintenance... Kentucky. I do feel that there are several things Airstream could do better to make them seem higher quality like cable management, pipe management, and thumb screws on the ac filters. Great channel and I am slowly making it through your videos.

2019 30' bunk, bought used and no furnace... had to replace the circuit board (Amazon and about $100) 8 months full time on the road and then the water heater went out... also the board, they solder relays into them and full time use causes failure due to the constant cycle on/off that the weekend warriors don't run into

@@ALittleBitUnhitched yes, if you're using the furnace go above your target temp by over the two degree window the t-stat is set at, more like over 6-8 degrees then when it hits that lower the temp back down. That way it's not cycling on and off constantly

I have a 2015 as well - so strange about your propane! For the Fantastic Fans I’ve had to replace the fuse - have you tried that to get them working? Sometimes mine will make mystery noises at night, but I’ve chalked that up to the sensors reacting to the reflectix I shove up there

Thanks for the super helpful comment Amy. The fuses appear to be intact but we were planning on ordering new ones before taking things apart. The propane tank mystery may never be solved but we are determined get to the bottom of this one. Stay tuned! Also, follow up question. Do you put the Reflectix on the outside or inside on the fan? Does it help? We block out all our windows but have never considered the fantastic fans. Thanks!
