For your next video on this subject, might I suggest the following? -The pointy end of the screwdriver is the correct one -Pouring liquid into the OPEN end of the container works better -Looking out of the window instead of staring at the wall makes it easier to see outdoors -The holes in the ends of scissor handles are for your fingers -If you are moving yourself about by slithering like a snake, use your feet and legs, it's easier -The sharp side of the knife is more effective at cutting -Eating soup or cereal from a bowl with a spoon instead of from a plate with a fork works better -Open the door BEFORE walking through it!

Eric Taylor Neutron stars and black holes are not made of chemicals. They are so compressed by their own gravity that it is impossible to support any kind of atomic structure to form elements. Without elements, you have no chemicals. It also goes without saying that discrete subatomic particles are not chemicals, either.

The coin thing made no sense. Thieves would steal them, then smooth off the edges to make them worthless? What??????????
@hughshaw6109
@hughshaw6109 8 лет назад
Actually, because dimes and coins of higher denominations were originally made of silver and gold (unlike today!), smooth edges on those coins made it easy for criminals steal some of the precious metal without it being noticeable by shaving it off (called "clipping)*. Making those coins with reeded edges was intended to make any such tampering immediately obvious. The edges on pennies and nickels aren't now, nor were they ever, reeded - shaving their edges simply wasn't worth the trouble. The main reason modern coins are produced with reeded edges? Tradition! *This didn't make them worthless but did reduce their value.
@TheEgg185
@TheEgg185 8 лет назад
Now THAT makes sense. This video is stupid.
@scottthompson292

The main reason coins still have grooved edges these days is to help the blind identify the coin's denomination.
@Mawsy-rg8gh
@Mawsy-rg8gh 8 лет назад
It is true in times of old coins were made of gold or silver & ppl would shave the edges to sell the accumulated gold but it didn't make them worthless he didn't explain it very well huh
@scottthompson292
@scottthompson292 8 лет назад
Mawsy 1980 I wouldn't even go as far as saying "in times of old" In 1966 Australia minted a "round" 50c coin made of 80% silver 20% copper. Jewish businessmen at the time were collecting them by the bag full and sending them back to Israel to making profit from melting them down. Because the scrap value of the metal grew to be higher than the face value of the coin they were replaced by the dodecagonal coin in 1969.

#1. Most disposible blades have a slot in the end to insert the blade and snap it off in case you dont have plyers (better tip than "you can break off the tip") #4. The holes in the prong are meant for child safety, insert a keyring in the hole and prevent children from plugging in the appliance
@nicolek4076
@nicolek4076 8 лет назад
The lines on the box cutter are only horizontal if you hold them parallel to the horizon. You mean diagonal. What have the other three knives you show to do with a box cutter with a snapable blade? What's the difference between keeping the liquid contents and the gaseous contents of a "soda" bottle inside? Answer: none. Wall socket consists ONLY of a power outlet. The plug is purely optional. One pin is live and the other is neutral. It has nothing to do with passing "unused" energy. If that were so, you wouldn't need it. What has the picture of the Rouble coin to with an earth connection? What have the plastic "Croc" shoes to do with fabric "Converse" sneakers? What does a picture of someone putting essential oil onto the core of a roll of toilet paper to do with the quilting of the paper? The quilting is not designed for its abrasive qualities. Its purpose is to hold the layers together. If you've ever worn spectacles, you'll know that the shape of the ends of the arms are designed to grip your head, not your ears which would be uncomfortable. Completely straight arms that curve inwards at the ends are quite practical. Coins have been found in the Indus Valley civilisations dating to 2500BCE. Touching a coin will not reveal if it's fake or not. If that were the case, there would not be £600 million worth of pound coins circulating in the UK would. You have to examine the coin carefully to detect a fake. This is not a problem as long as everyone accepts the coins as being worth a notional £1. The milling on the edge is to prevent "clipping", not "scratching". Isaac Newton, when master of the Royal Mint was particularly ferocious in his pursuit of these "coiners". You present a lot of dubious assertions as fact. In fact it's just another load of dog vomit. Thumbs down.

There are a lot of things in it that I didn't know, because they're not fucking true. The poster sets himself up as source of information but fails miserably in the endeavour. He (because it's certainly a man) thoroughly deserves to be hauled across the coals for peddling such bilge.

Your explanation of electricity is abhorrent. Both pins (active and neutral) serve to transfer the energy into the device. One doesn't put it in while the other takes away the excess. They are both used to complete the circuit. And no, Earth pins aren't typically round. It will vary depending on where you are.
@SteveWhiteDallas
@SteveWhiteDallas 8 лет назад
Yeah, these people should avoid explaining things they don't understand. Opposites attract. One prong connects to current. the other connects to neutral (opposite of current. This is not negative, just neutral. A/C has no negative load. The neutral is connected to the center of the transformer which supplies voltage. All neutral wires are hot until they are bonded (essentially grounded). The ground or earth prong will not prevent the device from overloading. It is there to protect the user. It is attached to the metal parts of the device which are not intended to conduct current, especially the pieces the user might come into contact with. Even voltage from an electromagnetic field can shock a person, but it will always follow the path of least resistance to the earth (or ground). The human body has a very high resistance to electricity (a poor conductor of electricity.) Therefore a ground wire, being a good electrical conductor (low resistance) will take all current to ground (on household devices). If enough current travels directly to ground with (virtually) no resistance, a breaker or fuse will trip or burn out. In cases of high current, a ground wire that is to small will not provide sufficient protection.
@yosefmacgruber1920
@yosefmacgruber1920 8 лет назад
Your explanation is not quite correct. Although I do basically agree with it. Yes, A/C does have a possible negative, and that would be the other hot wire, in a 240-volt circuit, well at least in typical residential U.S. wiring. (I think it is done differently in 230-volt 50 hertz countries.) They are 180 degrees out-of-phase. Is that negative enough for you? In fact, I saw in a electrical wiring book, a description of how a 240-volt circuit can be run to receptacles in a kitchen, so that with just one wire cable, 2 separate 20-amp circuits can be supplied. One hot wire supplies one circuit, and the other hot supplies the other circuit. The one neutral is shared, and only has to carry the difference in the currents of the two circuits, and serves to keep the circuits balanced at 120 volts. One ground would also be shared. The wiring cable used for this double circuit, would be 12-guage 3 conductor + ground, I think. It would be connected to 2 separate 120-volt circuit breakers, I think, from opposite 240-volt sides of the power bus in the circuit breaker box. However, the negative is not negative in the sense of DC wiring, as A/C reverses and travels in both directions. A 240-volt clothes dryer plug would have both hot prongs on it, and if an older plug, a shared neutral/ground. If a newer dryer cord, it would have 4 prongs, 2 hots, a neutral, and a ground. Neutral is generally grounded, however, the ground typically would be at the circuit breaker box, and since the neutral carries current, it can have up to a few volts on it, relative to ground. Because long wires have resistance, especially at high current loads, there can be some voltage drop, or in the case of a neutral, is can be a few volts above that of ground. The ground is not supposed to carry current, unless it has to, to help remedy an electrical fault or shock hazard.
@SteveWhiteDallas
@SteveWhiteDallas 8 лет назад
Yosef MacGruber, You are thinking of a single phase 240 volt system as one sinewave. The transformer which supplies the voltage has a center tap on both the primary and the secondary side. These 2 center taps are directly connected, then grounded. That is what provides the opposite required for attraction. A single winding cannot be out of phase with itself, and if the two legs were 180 degrees apart, the voltage between them would be zero. If you draw a complete sine wave, hold it up to a mirror (with the zero line parallel to the mirror), your drawing would represent one 120volt buss in your breaker panel. The point where your drawing meets the mirror would represent the neutral. The reflected image would represent the other 120volt buss in your panel. You'll see that they are in phase but opposite, that is, when one is at +120v, the other is at -120v. But they are on two separate waves, so they are not 180 degrees apart. Frequency is the rate of occurrence. Hertz is a unit of frequency. In the USA, each of those 2 complete, opposite sine waves occurs 60 times per second. Either wave measured back to the center of the secondary winding will read 120v. When measured from one end of the secondary to the other, we get 240v. when we connect the center of the secondary winding to the center of the primary and ground them, the result is 2 separate, opposite waves in sync. Since they are opposite, at any given time, one wave is at +120v and the other is at -120v which gives us the full 240 volts. But since 120 is only measure to the grounded center tap, when leg is +120, the other is at -120. The reason a 240 volt circuit can be split and share one neutral is at any given time, only one buss in the panel is hot, meaning the neutral only serves one 120 volt circuit at a time. The reason the other is not a true negative is that 60 times per second, the negative becomes positive and the positive becomes negative. If a single neutral is shared between 2 branch circuits loaded to their potential on the same buss, the result will be an overloaded neutral. (potential=85% of the wire's current rating is maximum standard since 100% would be right at the point of tripping a breaker.)
@jeffreyblack666
@jeffreyblack666 8 лет назад
Steve White Technically it would be 2 phase, 120 V AC. You don't need the ground connector. Lots of power transmission occurs in a delta configuration, with just 3 active lines, with no ground. Each is 120 degrees out of phase. A single phase will ALWAYS have the 2 ends out of phase with one another, or be at 0 V. That is because while one side is positive, the other side has to be negative. If the 2 legs were in phase, the voltage between them would be 0, or a simple DC voltage. The easiest way to explain that is to consider 2 sine waves. When they are in phase, they overlap, or have a simple offset. The voltage between them is fixed, and without a DC offset, it would be 0. If they are out of phase, then the voltage between them differs. If they are 180 degrees out of phase, the voltage difference will peak at 90 degrees and 270 degrees being 2 times the amplitude. Being "in phase but opposite" means they are 180 degrees out of phase. You also seem completely ingorant of how electricity works. For AC, the hot wire is the one which isn't grounded. It is the one that can kill people. The ground one (assuming the hot one is disconnected, such as when it is switched off), by virtue of being grounded, will always be at 0V wrt ground and thus if you touch that one, while you are grounded (such as by standing on the ground or something that is grounded), there is no potential between you and the neutral line and thus no current would flow. The active or hot wire, while having a very short time at 0V, will otherwise have a potential wrt ground, and thus want to use you to complete a circuit if you touch it and the neutral one is disconnected. It doesn't matter if the potential is positive or negative. It is still hot. A typical 2 phase AC circuit will not use the neutral at all. This is because it is 2 phase because it requires more voltage/power. If it could act as 2 devices each using the neutral then there would be no need for 240V. But yes, a 2 phase AC circuit with a common ground, can be split into 2 1 phase circuits.
@jeffreyblack666
@jeffreyblack666 8 лет назад
Steve White To eleaborate a bit more, typical 3 phase AC power can exist in 2 configurations, a delta configuration or a Y configuration. The delta configuration has no ground. It only has the 3 hot wires. The transformers/generators/motors/etc are wired up as 3 coils between the 3 hot connections, in a triangle. The Y configuration has a common ground. This would have the 3 coils run between the ground and each hot connection, in a Y shape. If the 3 phases are balanced such that they all draw the same power, the ground doesn't take any load at all, as it sums to 0. Regardless of which way you do it, they are 120 degrees out of phase. For a 2 phase system, it would basically be the same, but instead of a Y you would get a center tap coil, or 2 coils connected, and instead of a delta, you just have a single coil. The pseudo delta, with just a single coil could be considered just a single phase, as there is no reference point. However, it could also be considered as 2 phases. As the centre tap/2 coils actually has a ground, it would be more correct to refer to that one as 2 phases, especially as you can get just one phase and draw power from that while ignoring the other phase. Also, you want the breaker to trip before the maximum current rating of the wire, otherwise you risk having the wire melt instead of the breaker tripping.

I've watch a couple of these now, and my theory is that they are created in India. The script has a lot of British terms and awkward phrasing, but they get an American voiceover artist to read it. The subjects are often obvious to anyone who has grown up in a fully industrialized country, and the images are taken from a Google image search for whatever words are being spoken at that moment, without regard for the actual topic. They literally just googled "shoes with holes" and put random pictures in because the person doing that part doesn't have any knowledge of Converse All-Stars. (They used the correct picture only when those words are actually spoken.) Likewise, the utility knife blades shown don't all have break lines. The bottles aren't all screw-top fizzy drinks; and so on.

Pretty sure the reason why modern coins have special edges is to allow blind or low-sighted people to verify their denomination.
