Not only did I research the laws of the countries I was going to, I printed them out and stuck them in my drone bag so I could produce them if there was a problem.
The problem I have is actually finding the true rules for that country - and even more so finding them in English! I haven't even gotten to the problem of trying to convince them to a non-caring, non-English speaking security guard yet =/
I totally agree with you about enjoying the moment. Step back from technology and try not see everything from behind a lens or screen . My wife constantly tells me to take pictures when I'm just trying to enjoy the moment. I hand her the camera and say "Here, if you want photo's every minute, how bout you take 'em." She gets that annoyed look and I point out "See, if you're the one that has to do it, it's not so fun anymore is it?" LOL!!!
Life is all about balance. Whenever I’m hiking with friends I always make everyone put the cameras down and just relax in silence. Always such a trip when you finally take a moment to breath
Excellent points and great presentation! I would just add too that all batteries need to be AT ALL TIMES in the carry on or with you. Lipo batteries are dangerous and can ignite randomly and you don’t want that to happen while your batteries are in the checked in compartment (even though planes have a sprinkler system in that section) I also like to have all my batteries in a fireproof lipo bag with me which would avoid any fire spreading inside your bag. The last thing you want is your plane to be diverted because one of your batteries started a fire...On that note also have your batteries charged at 50% as this is the less stressful charge for batteries but check your battery manual. DJI batteries are pretty good quality but there is always a risk particularly if the battery is subject to stress over its lifetime.
Took my mavic to Mexico. Tried to fly from inside my hotel and out my balcony, shytt flew away, slammed into the side of the hotel and fell five stories. What did I learn? Always calibrate compass, wait for gps lock, and don't ever fly from inside to outside. Thanks God for DJI care. Great video
Ice Ryda you have a lot to learn lol. Concrete has reinforced metal bars and most likely the balcony as well, initiating your drone in a place full of metal presence will completely mess up compas calibration, not mentioning it probably needed a reset since you just traveled to that location...Drones are not toys, imagine if you had hit a person with that drone! Be careful dude!
Thank you so much Jeven! This is exactly what I wanted. Thank you for taking the time to create this video. I'm loving your detailed thorough videos! Because of you, I have my FAA drone license, my NAV Canada license and it's insured in both America and Canada. Thank you thank you thank you!
I’m totally with you and like snag hard-shell cases for individual components which gives maximum flexibility to reorganize any type of bags or backpacks. together with other neccesities
You should visit Philippines .. this past few months it ha been bombarded by vlogers, some with drones some don't, plus here in Phil. the department of tourism even encourage vlogers to be free to enhance the tourism .. I'll bet you don't wanna missed it .. hit me up bro 😁
Jeven Dovey that’s cool. What do you prepare in order to take the drone to the Philippines without having any hassles. Re visiting the Philippines, check out www.thelosttraveler.ph for an awesome place to stay in Palawan!
well as far as I know as long as you have papers that prove that you own that drone and not selling it on ph that'll be ok. you should visit Cebu too Jeven
Enjoy your trip to NZ, if you make it to New Plymouth, make sure you do the Pouakai Track, amazing view of Mt Taranaki from the tarns. Also visit Tongaporutu but check the tides. The weather is warming up here, bring your sunblock!
7:40 Yeah! Have fun with the drone. But make a trip not all about flying. With my ex I tend to go to nice places and take tons of pictures. Not knowing that many of those situations were nice and romantic... like _sitting at the dock of a bay_ with the nicest sunset ever. And yet, I only have pictures of it. And no memories of holding the hand of my beloved one...
Hi, one more tip as it happened with me... do not leave the battery inserted in the drone while packing. Because there's 1% chance you might accidentally turn it on and within few minutes it's gona heat up and burn the whole thing up.... cheers
I flew my drone this summer at a winery that was having an event for the total solar eclipse. I got the owners permission to fly around and capture the property and events. Even with that, there was still one particular group of people that would raise their hands and 'shoo' me away every time I got anywhere near them. Didn't ruin my time, actually made for a laugh later on looking at the footage! 🤣
I have seriously no idea why you do not have a way bigger audience your content is just perfect. Informative, entertaining no yadada. Keep up the great content.
Good advice, Although I don't go traveling like you do I still go on vacation at least once a year so I will take your advice on board. You gained alike and a new subscriber
"Take a step back, put your drone away and enjoy the moment" (7:50): great advice to not get caught up in the digital world but to fully live in the real world.
Great info. We leave for NZ February 3rd. Not sure how long you will be there. We rented an RV for 15 days to travel the South Island. Doubt you will be here that long but crazier things have happened
Always check the dangerous goods regulations , from the airlines you are flying. Not because of the drone itself but the batteries, most of the airlines only allow you to take 2 batteries of 160wh each, and the must be carried with you on the cabin. Be aware that if you have connecting flights with different airlines, this might change.
Thanks for the tips! I just wanted to fly over Cuba 🇨🇺 in my last trip, but I red some about it and it’s not allowed which sucks because it would be a great footage ✌🏽😎🇲🇽
Good information and good advice. I will be traveling to the Caribbean in January and taking my Mavic Pro or Spark and I want to be prepared. Thanks for posting this video.
Also a good tip: Countries like Portugal require you to fill out forms BEFORE you enter the country and start droning. If you don't, you can get fined.
Remember Emirates does not allow batteries in carry on luggage, If I travel to South Africa from New Zealand, I have my batteries with me from Napier to Auckland, then I have to take the batteries and then check them in for the Emirates trip to South Africa and vise versa on return trip
Thank you for the tips. I read things about using a special bag for batteries. Does that apply to the Spark batteries or can you just keep them in the original bag with your drone? On the same note, can you keep one connected to the drone to save space or should the drone be totally disconnected from any battery? Thank you!
Any thoughts on how to air travel regarding the drone batteries? Should you take it out of the drone? If so: what are your thoughts on ignifugous cases?
Great tips bro, i have same issue i try to fly next to swimming pool on hotel and some people there they dont like to shoot them, anyway i was just want to get from my wife so i bring it down and pack it, strange when see some people still dont like it or they dont want but i will try to not flight next to this kind people trying to be more empty area to shoot nice video 👍🏻👍🏻😊😊
Hi, great video! Just one question, what about the batteries ? should I use a fireproof bag ? I have a mavic mini with 3 batteries and I wanna fly with him to other countries. Thanks a lot.
Thx for all these tips , just got myself a spark , i'm heading to Cebu Philippines and want some good coverage of places i go and big event I'm hosting
