Whoever allowed this child to do this owes everyone an apology 🙄,including the child!!!

This is what happens when you tell your child they are the best even when they aren't. The adults failed her.

How could her parents have been so cruel as to let her be humiliated like this

After twenty years of performance, I can say this -- someone should have stepped in and let her know that she was singing beyond her ability. She has the vocal chops to sing the National Anthem, but within the constraints of key and range that any competent coach would have recognized. I'm not sure who let this happen, but they have let this girl down.

The purest sound she made was when she accessed her high head tones. That was a beautiful, pure , 8 year old child sound. The rest? A mixture of mimicry, false praise, nerves (over doing it). Hopefully this won't hurt her - but I'm sure social media will play a huge role in making sure it does.

You never mess with the National Anthem. You don't add all that guttural flare

This is a perfect example of why "everyone gets a trophy" is a bad reason. The positive I have for her is that she is far braver than I am to sing in front of the world. Kudos for that. Shame on the people in her camp who thought this was appropriate and encouraged this performance. Not everything our children do is amazing. Let her ruin a Taylor Swift song and respect the National Anthem.

Dear Dad, as a father myself, I'd like to share some advice with you. It's important to love your children but it's equally important not to lie to them. While it's good to let them learn, it's better to recognize their shortcomings early on. It was evident during practice that she wasn't very good. When she grows older and looks back at this, she may feel proud or embarrassed about what happened. It's not that she didn't have the spirit, but she was off-tune more than once.

Next time we see her it’ll be on the VOICE. And Simon will shut her down in the first 5 seconds, and then she will cry in disbelief. “But my mommy said that I sing so good”

What's really crazy is that she goes around the country doing this. And has gotten worse each time. Parents needed to protect her but failed her instead.

You guys need to stop bullying. SHES 8! She doesn’t know any better, also she’s adorable. And she’s so happy singing. Don’t ruin her happiness for singing. That’s an awful thing to do to a kid.

I’m gonna say something, and I don’t care how much hate I get for saying it, every adult who is either giving this child unwarranted pity, or getting angry at people who are calling out the obvious and pointing out the obvious, which is a this kid can’t sing and be her dad has been exploiting her for years, and every performance has just gotten forced to leave person and worse to all of you that are getting mad at us You’re not doing her any favors either if anything you’re just as bad as her dad by encouraging delusion.

When I read this went viral I was seriously afraid people were going to be complimenting her. Thank you to all the commenters who kept it real. Every adult in her life is to blame for this. Her vocal coach and parents especially. Had she been taught an age appropriate TRADITIONAL VERSION of the national anthem it could have been an adorable video and an experience to tell her grandchildren. I’d like to say my behalf on this. I have met this girl before and her father. They are both very kind people but he overstimulates her to the point where she thinks she needs to practice singing 6 hours a day. I sing the national anthem to and met her out of this. Amazing little girl, not the best parent.

OK, two schools of thought. I can't sing but love my country. I will sing along at games but would never pretend that I am doing it as well as others can. That doesn't diminish my desire to honor my country and want to sing the national anthem. Everyone has a right to sing it. It's not a song only for those who are capable of singing. She has as much right as anyone else and she did so passionately. However, as long as these performances are looked at, recorded, and evaluated there is an expectation on how it should sound. I love my kids but would never put them in a situation where they not only would be embarrassed but also can't hold others hostage while they listened to something below what our expectation has become for the anthem simply because I am blindly proud of my children. Shame on the parents for this. With some vocal coaching, focus on singing the song correctly, and an emphasis on staying within her ability, this could have been much better. Shame on whoever in the Pacers organization vetted this and couldn't recognize that this would be noticed for the wrong reasons.

All of the shameful comments in here should take a look in the mirror at their soul. She's not auditioning for anything. She is just simply singing from her heart and soul and obviously loves her country and has deep respect for our military. This little girl sang from her soul. It doesn't have to be perfect, it has to be genuine. Bless this little girls heart from the disgusting comments.

I’ve seen some vocal coaches comment on this and they say there’s definitely potential she just needs some proper coaching and practice with less difficult songs. Unfair to throw her straight into this type of performance. I hope her parents take the constructive feedback seriously and help turn this around. But her energy is unmatched that confidence that flow. Show stopper. Just gotta work on the voice.

The parents bask in their child's screaming voice and her confidence in front of crowds will be talked about for years.
