I love how all these wives and consorts are like "Ruyi/Xian has all these ulterior motives for everything she does!" and poor Ruyi is just like "I want to love all of these children, no matter that they are not mine biologically, and live in a happy palace with the man I love and all of my "sisters"." Just like all jerks, wanting to blame someone innocent with the same labels that they themselves have cultivated.
It's kinda sad coz all Princes have to adapt to the surroundings they are in.... they have to make use of and scheme with whatever resources they have. Yonghuang has loved Ruyi since the beginning because she's the only one who doesn't see him as a tool to climb up the ranks. But after Ruyi was sentenced to be confined in the Cold Palace, Yonghuang was sent to Consort Chun's Palace to take care of her. Consort Chun, having her own son, wouldn't love Yonghuang the same. So, Yonghuang grew up with no love and knew that he had to scheme his way out to protect himself...and also noticed that this behavior isn't built one day. If Ruyi hadn't been framed, Yonghuang's ending might have turned out differently but it won't (sadly... coz the actual Prince died in his youth too).
Let's be honest here . Hailan thought him worse than he was . Yeah , he tried to use his foster mom's affection to further his position, but he was never disrespectful towards her or schemed against her , nor did he try to harm her . He did what he learnt from people around him and his intentions didn't exactly have malice in them . RuYi was hurt , we got it . But it was NOTHING compared to what the real villainous people did . That kind of thing was commonplace in literally every palace setting .
Honestly the queen's downfall was her head maid. The head maid was the one who kept speculating and feeding her thoughts making the Empress' mistrust against Ruyi grow.
To bad she was the only woman the emperor truly loved and the only woman that really loved him. He treated Ruyi so badly. Yonghuang had the best loving mother ever and even he betrayed her and Ruyi still forgives him. Both father and son hurt Ruyi badly. The emperor never thought that even he could cross the line with Ruyi and in the end she didn't forgive him. He could have it all and he threw it away. Stupid man. I loved the end though. When the emperor took measures so that so he would be with Ruyi again.
The son betrayed Ruyi purely because he had more or less been left to fend for himself as his second adoptive mother basically neglected him in favour of her biological sons.
Bruh , he didn't truly love anyone. He loved the fact that Ruyi loved him unconditionally, that he was her one and only , that she made him feel good about himself, he didn't love Ruyi as a person . He loved NOBODY as a person. Even the real Qianlong was a tyrant .
Everytime i watch this scene, i always think this Empress is very stupid. She can't really see why Noble Consort wants to get First Prince. Empress blinded by her hate toward Ruyi.
No, he didn't lie about the Momo, She would leave him in soiled clothes and she would hit him but that was because Sulian the Empress's head maidservant Told his Momo that it was okay and that the empress had no problem with it. A lot of the problems that the Empress had was because of her maid
