In this video Jafffa Adventures works on Jacob's 80 Series Toyota Landcruiser. You may recognise it as the four wheel drive that we replaced
the big end bearings on a few episodes back.

In this series we will install Dobinsons Springs, Superior Engineering remote reservoir shocks, and Airbag Man air bags into the 80 Series Landcruiser.
Before we do that however, we have to deal with a rust issue. Toyota have a design flaw in the footwell and firewall area of the 80 Series Landcruiser that can lead to a serious rust issue. We will show you exactly what to look out for and reveal the extent of the damage that this design flaw can cause. It's really an issue to look out for if you own or are buying an 80 Series Landcruiser.

Thank you. A Ih8mud subscriber posted your video to my post where I'm concerned about rust on my rig. I haven't had time to tear mine apart to see how bad rust is on my 97 but this is a big concern I have when going forward. I get the deal about not monetizing your videos. Tectyl the inside of that mount, seal the slots at the top and put a grommet in the drain hole. I did mine back in 2009 and so far so good. Good video, now youve raised my level of paranoia again Im going to check that area again.... cheers

Good on you Terry, your generosity of sharing your skills and equipment to help is amazing. Glad I didn’t get that cancer in my 1996 80 series . Great job boys, I took all my seats out and hole floor vinyl out and painted the bear floor a couple times with Tectrol 506,

@@JafffaAdventures yes I drilled holes in every door pillar and the roof and squirted 506 in every hole with air gun and in the beam in the back of windscreen. I took door cards off did the inside of the doors, and inside all the back panels everywhere i could get it in if I coulded drilled a hole, , our 80 stinks but no rust, nearly 800,000ks Iam 3rd owner

I like doing as much work myself, but I have zero welding experience and hate being taken advance of by mechanics etc (recent example, I took mine in for inspection - they told me I needed new wheels bearings etc but little did they know, I literally just put new ones in… when I told them after they were done quoting well over a thousand bucks they back pedalled hard - I also was told I need a new oil filter, but they didn’t realise I wrote the date and KMs on the one I replaced two months before - ranting lol) Hence why, homework is best - getting a base knowledge is so important and why channels like yours are so great How much should I expect to pay for the same job you I have done?

Thanks for the kind words mate, and I agree getting a base knowledge is the place to start. Even the professionals started at square one at some point in their past. Re the bonnet, I think they sell for $1,500 to 2k with the, keeping your old bonnet. Cheers👍😎

Thanks for the alert Terry while helping out the young fellah - must be a Canadian habit to have such a well organised shed wall here in Australia 👍🏻👀- it’s a shame that for example the Troopcarrier still comes with ‘factory rust’ and in time the typical rust in the window corners and top external rain gutters which is why I will not own one - cannot believe Toyota ask over A$70k for a rust bucket which has not changed its design for nearly 30 years - a WA lass had to sell her 2004 Troop-carrier for only $5k for the same reason - hopefully my 2010 Hilux will be OK. John in SA

I’m in the middle of a full restoration on an FJ45 combined with trips and work and a little bit of family and there’s nothing left. Give it a crack yourself mate, it really is not the hard. Thanks Steve. I had it on my 80 as well and cars in Canada used to be optioned with ERP. I don’t think I’ll do it again but more out of laziness than anything else😂. It was not fun to install😉😎
