Glad you like this canister! It will never fail you. One thing I've discovered is an attachment assembly for the outflow for the Eheim. It allows you to unscrew a "fill tube" at the aquarium output and add water. This auto primes the system. It works and works very well.
@@TankTastic Um I apologize, the attachment assembly is for the input. I was not thinking correctly. I don't think you would go for it because you like the lily pipes. The one I bought is called this: Eheim AEH4004300 Intake Set 494 Canister Filters Parts for Aquarium I bought it from Amazon if you want to have a look.
Any glassware will have that issue. Thus far I have never broke a lily pipe set (I have broken a drop checker though). For glassware, make sure you support the pressure points with your hands (all the angles) when handling or cleaning.
upgrading to larger pipes 7/8 def increases flow! I also recommend using only coarse sponges at the bottom. Use two so when you put in all media it will act as a medium sponge when it compresses and will work perfectly! Great video!
Use another canister filter as a pre - filter filled with filter pad only and use that SS canister filter filled with filtration media . You only need to do maintenance on the pre-filter , not the main canister filter and leave that alone for months longer !
I would opt for the Biomaster, but for open cabinets, I would go with these. Or I would opt for this ss filter vs an oase for a larger tanks because a oase 600 is huge vertically and this size is more manageable.
@@TankTastic Yes, fair points, it is certainly an attractive looking filter I'll give it that. Plus my Biomaster 600 only just fits in my cabinet and sits on a tray I need to slide out to change the pre-filter. Don't think I'd trade in the ease of maintenance I get with a Biomaster for the maintenance this filter would require though. 5 mins to clean my pre-filter every 10-14 days and then only open and clean the main filter canister once every 6-9 months. That's what I really love about the Biomaster ....
From experience most standard canister filters get noisy over time not helped by using AC pumps. This using a DC pump will be smooth and super quiet. I wish more manufacturers built them better and simpler like these.
