Great video im still stuck between which one to order, will be my second crossbow got a fullsize jaguar MK1 which is great but i dont have the biggest of back gardens so a pistol crossbow would be more practical
that was a good and thorough review Mike, it certainly helps when someone want to buy a decent bow for the money, the Tomcat is a good second bow to my Black Redback............ your top man.....
Man, kinda hard to decide for me. Seems odd both have the same poundage but the redback had a bit more penetration into the ballistic gel. Did you find out which one was more accurate? That would be the deciding factor for me. Great video thank you
Thanks Karl, yeah weird that the redback was a bit more powerful, maybe its the ever so slightly thicker prod, who knows, as for accuracy, they are the same in my opinion, apart from the prod and stock they are essentially the same crossbow.
Seems like there's no enough difference between them to worry about ( I wouldn't want to get shot by either of them lol ). So for me, the Tomcat wins because of the price difference. The money saved can be put towards more bolts.
Yeah, you're right mate, not a massive difference is it really, and both are much more powerful than the old 80lb crossbows, the extra tenner for the redback seems to get you a little more power, but mot much
@@WeaponCollector I would like to see the same gel test with a 18 inch gel block and your broadheads and jaxce bolts with broadheads attached. The fbi say a firearm needs to produce between 12 to 18 inches of penetration through calibrated gel to be sufficient for self defense purposes. It would be interesting to see if either bow of that size could produce that level of performance with heavier ammo between say total bolt weights between 246 gr. To 360 gr.? If so they have similar penetration profiles to a firearm. What are your thoughts Mike?
@@cobracommander4017 Sounds great CC, Would be a very good test to do and would be very interesting to see a comparison like that, i would love to do that test, and when possible i will, the main problem with an 18 inch block of gelatin is it will cost me around £25 - £30 or more to make due to the amount of gelatin you need, if you can wait the funds will eventually happen, if not feel free to donated £25 and i will buy the gelatin that day and do the test within a few days of it arriving. I will do this test as it would be very interesting to see the results, just not till i have a spare £25 - £30
You can get those at 80lbs, by rotating each side of the string "tighter" when adding it with stringer, it removes slack of the string. If you have slack it wont get full draw of bow after tightening, tightened bow will bend some more and give better force but is harder to cock.
I am going to get one soon myself John, the bloke who makes them offered me some stuff to review, just been so busy haven't have a chance to email him back yet.
Buy a quiver! They are superb.i always thought the Redback had a slight power advantage Mike and both are better than the Tron.mate are you going to do a stock extender for the Tomcat? I’d be interested in one 👌
I even remembered to put a quick ad in the video this time Len, hahaha, they are all good crossbow when compared to the old ones aren't they, any are well worth owning.
Nice 🖖👍 Looks like the tomcat is better with the cocking stock method 🤔 I wonder if the tomcat is still a good buy this days 🤔 looks a little difficult to find some that's not out of stock and replacement Limb.
Twisting the string will have an effect on poundage, prod length and brace height. Twist more and it's harder to cock. Each string will vary in length by millimeters as well. The real test would be to see which one has more penetration when twisting the string X amount of times, and using the same string on each bow.
Great Video Mike. You can pick the Hori-zone red back up for £31.70 which is a lot cheaper than when I bought it for me it would be a no brainier which one to get the Hori-Zone Redback is more powerful and that would conclude it for me I Love mine and at the price they are at now I may even consider getting another one when I have the money spare.
@@bucks09 It appears that all the prices have been hiked up now due to pandemic and items like this selling out can’t find the website I seen it on now cheapest one I have found is £44:95 at bowsports.com here is a link www.bowsports.com/acatalog/Hori-Zone---Redback-Pistol-Crossbow-3364.html hope that helps will post if I find it cheaper.
I'll do a review of the stock this week hopefully mate and give out the link again, its in this video, look in description and use my coupon code "WeaponCollector" for 10% off
Dude, they are the same crossbow. They are both made by the chinese crossbow company "Po-Lang" and are rebranded for sale everywhere else. The stickers and colours get tweaked for different brands but the mechanisms are identical and interchangeable.
I know they are the same basic crossbow, but i have had people ask for this test many many times, so here it is. The are NOT exactly the same though, i have had 3 of these now and all have different prods - and thats the main difference - if the prods are not the same one will shoot faster / harder etc and i have proved that in this test.
@@WeaponCollector ok cool then. I get to babbling on sometimes. Lol! But if you think it's good to go then I'm good with it too. It was just going up on YOUR channel so if figured I'd give you the option.😁👍
Liked this a lot, will you do a comparison video on full sized crossbow? And why is that repeating crossbow over £300? I would understand if it was a full sized one. Also I saw the tomcat with scope for about £80 and without the scope £40.
