80s Night Time Soaps Top Villains - Knots Landing/Dynasty/Dallas/Falcon Crest 

The most ruthless villainess was Angela Channing of Falcon Crest. Of course J.R. Ewing who was ruthless in business and with anyone who he disagreed with was the best villain of all time on television. Pam I think slapped more people than anyone else on the nighttime soaps! J.R. was a frequent victim and even Sue Ellen got slapped by Pam.

Of the four villains: Alexis was the most entertaining. Abby was the most cunning. Angela was the most manipulative. and finally... JR was the most ruthless.

I loved Abby, Anglea, and J.R. Evil at it's finest.

Larry Hagman...and Joan Collins. Top best ever.

Jane Wyman was the best. always had the best one-liners. I took her more seriously. Granny still had all the tricks!! J.R has a class of its own too tho

Greg Sumnear was the only guy powerful enough and smart enough to handle Abby Cunningham. And he knew her so well because he married her LOL! If he didn’t handle her, nobody could.

Abby Ewing was the best night-time soap villain. Abby wasn't cartoonish like Alexis Carrington, Abby was well-rounded. JR Ewing and Angela Channing were in a class by themselves.

Dynasty succeeded more about how evil would be the villains because they had chosen british actresses to play them (Alexis Colby and Sable Colby)

The acting on Knots was better than the other evening soaps.

It's when you compare the quality of the first clip featuring Abby to the second featuring Alexis and that cartoonish scene where she is being strangled that you see there was no contest. Abby played by outstanding Donna Mills was in a league of her own.

My favorite Dynasty scene! Loved it when Alexis threw self righteous Blake and dull Krystle out of the mansion . Angela Channing was so wicked lol. My sister wore her eye makeup the same way as Donna Mills . She was great as Abby . Preferred her over boring Karen and cuckoo Val . 😎😎😎

Greg was always a step ahead of Abby! JR knew from the first minute he met Abby what she was after.. lol Blake was a weak character unlike the late great Jock Ewing. Angela Channing was the best female villainess on tv and of course JR Ewing will always be the greatest villain!

JR Ewing the best ever he wasn't known as the man America loved to hate for nothing

JR was the king because he was the quickest of the lot. He could nail you to a wall with your own mistakes. One of the best scenes he had was with Jeremy Wendell. Wendell What do you want Ewing. JR You in my office tomorrow morning at 10 o clock. Don't bother bringing your cheque book....it's not money I want.

How about a sequel?. Morgan Fairchild and Howard Duff (Flamingo Road), Gordon Thomson (Dynasty), Stephanie Beacham (The Colbys), and Kathleen Noone and William Devane from KL (in the earlier years Greg was a blackmailer and he knew where the babies were before Abby did).

No contest who the winner is for me. Larry Hagman as JR Ewing in Dallas was one bad son of a bitch!

Notice that there’s only one true male villain here? JR Ewing second to none and was truly peerless. Greg Sumner and Richard Channing were very good but they were out of their league. Today, You can mention these two characters and some will remember them fondly BUT, mention JR Ewing, and almost everyone has heard of him. Now, Out of the Three Female Villains, The best has to be Angela Channing because Out of the three villainess characters, Angela Channing was portrayed by the legendary Oscar winning actress, Jane Wyman. Angela Channing’s wealth, power and influence wasn’t attained by marrying a man like Abby Ewing and Alexis Colby. Angela was a Gioberti and learned everything about Falcon Crest and the wine industry by her grandfather and her father. Even though the writers had Angela committing some very dubious acts i.e staging her brother’s death as an accident, dominating her daughter Julia, to the point of driving her insane causing her murder two people, and trading her baby “grandson” Joseph, for her 50% of Falcon Crest that she lost when nephew and Joseph’s real grandfather, Chase Gioberti, invoked the term of her father’s will. And that’s just to name a few, she also showed her humor and vulnerability at times which made her character redeemable.Alexis Colby was by far, the most popular and famous female Villain because she saved Dynasty, which was Then, a new and mediocre series When her character appeared at the last minute during Dynasty’s first season Cliffhanger. Alexis wasn’t a self made power house villain because she acquired wealth power and influence by Marrying her first two husbands. She is the sole reason why Dynasty became a blockbuster series. Now, we get to Abby Ewing, she started out as a regular character of Knots Landing but as each episode during her development, Abby schemed to gain wealth by slowly seducing Gary Ewing during his marriage to Valene Ewing. She manipulated Gary and schemed to gain the wealth that was connected with Gary’s eventual inheritance that he would receive from his late father, Oil Baron and Rancher, the late great Jock Ewing. Abby was amazing and she too showed humor and dubious acts i.e unknowingly involving herself, with Val and Gary Ewing’s twins, being stolen at birth while making Valene believe that they were still-born.. So while they were all great villainess’ I think Angela was the most devious but likable Female Villain..

There isn’t even a contest here. John Ross Ewing II was/is THE GREATEST VILLAIN IN TELEVISION HISTORY! He’s in deed in a league of his own and everyone from Alexis Carrington, Abby, and Granny come in at a distant default second.

Alexis was so fun to watch. J.R. was so awful it wasn’t funny, I flat out hated him. The rest I don’t know.
