I'm currently sat in the Oakeley Arms (the hotel the cast stayed in) and last night chatted with locals who were here during filming. Included was someone who worked at the quarry and only retired at the end of last year. He explained all of the filming locations for Dr Who are long gone through extensive quarrying. The tunnels still exist, but the ceilings are precarious and they're used for explosive storage so there's no chance they'd ever let anyone in (obviously). The owners of the hotel were unaware the cast had stayed here and loved seeing the production paperwork and our photos of the locations we visited yesterday. The guestbook from 1983 still exists in the local archives!!

Awesome! Nice info! When I went I was only given 2 days to visit everything (not just 5 Doctors) so never really managed to spend time talking to locals haha plus it was a weekend so quarry was all closed!

Excellent stuff! Although as it"s 40 years next month since the location filming, I visited Carreg y Foel Gron this week. I'm afraid your locations there aren't right. All is as it was, with nothing changed or moved. Scenes recorded there were within 2 mins walk of the old quarry. All landscapes matched exactly. Peter Moffatt knew how to make things easy!

@@Doctorwholocationsguide Great job you'd do too! I couldn't figure out why the rock Hurndall sits on to rest had been moved. Hadn't realised that it was a prop, as it visibly wobbles when he sits on it. Fake!
