Back in 82 a friend of mine had this exact model! And it was metalic blue with monster mudder tires and mag wheels just like you'rs! The truck was sold in El Paso Tx at Dick Poe Toyota!
I still have my '83 Toyota 4 WD pickup, SR-5 Longbed. I need to let it go, becsuse it is just sitting, and slowly rotting away. 4.5" Superlift Springs, 4" Skyjacker Rear Lift Springs. Front drop drag link. Enkei 15×10" Aluminum Rims, with six round hole style. Goodyear 33×12.50×15" MT/Rs. I rebuilr the motor 10 yrs ago. Mild Crane cam, Progressive Weber 32/36. Interior all intact, bucket seats, tilt steering. The Transmission was also rebuilt, 8 years ago professionally. Rancho RS 5000 shocks. 14"Grant 3 prong, aluminum steering wheel. Recommendations for exhaust, LC Engineering 2.5" exhaust front to back.. And, your comment about the dual-row timing chain, that was stock. 🔶️Thing is, I live in Honolulu, Hi.
I didn’t even tell my wife when I went behind her back to pick up an 80 pickup with no engine. So I rented a car dolly from UHAUL and pulled the little truck home with my Tacoma. DUDE when my wife saw me pushing the truck into our front yard she looked like she was having a heart attack!🤣 and I don’t know why I felt SO scared that day, like if I did something horrible. It’s been two years since and every time she gets mad at me for something she always has to bring up the dang truck!
Thanks for sharing. I have an 82 SR5 blue short bed just like yours. It was first new vehicle i owned. I have been collecting parts over the years. My bed is rusty at seams. (You can get a FG bed but not cheap). Been running up until a couple weeks ago. I have weber redline like that too. Just scored a new fuel tank which i had not been able to find. When i get started I’ll hopefully be posting vids on YT.
Great project. I actually love the jerry can mounts. Good luck with those interior parts. Hard to source any of the plastic parts. I restored an 82 way back when. Should have never sold that truck.
I bought one new in 1982. Cost around $5400. Blue like yours. I loved that truck, but for some unknown reason l traded it in for a 1992 Silverado during the lowering craze.
I just got my 82 going (kinda) I am not much of a mechanic and this vacuum system is driving me nuts (CA truck) yours looks likenit had the same "electric blue" factory paint that mine had. Mine is also rattle canned. I got a lotnto do to mine still but she gets me to the convinience store and back.
What are your plans for it? if you don't have to smog it just get you a weber and all you need is one vacuum line and one fuel line and it will pur like a kitten. Then you can sell all the smog stuff to me so i can finally drive mine on the ca roads again (legally)
@@vincentapuron2750 What happened to the gas tank? kind of in the same situation. Questioning what the previous persons reasoning when they tossed out all the original parts.
Yes they are a little on the big side. I do plan on taking the wheel spacers off. However I will be driving on these wheels until they go bad then I will get a smaller size. Thanks for the comment.
