We bought this stone house in Italy during the pandemic in 2020. The house was a ruin and we saved everything we could, unfortunately that meant only four stone and clay walls! The back wall, against the terrain, was close to collapse; the roof beams were eaten and basically reduced to dust; the inside separation walls were easily taken down and the whole project turned into a heavy renovation/rebuild.
Follow our journey as we turn this old stone house into a beautiful home 😊.

Greetings from North Carolina. After the third application of paint the walls look fantastic. You’ve both worked your tails off restoring your home. I’m always in awe of all the prep work you’ve done just to get ready for flooring installation, painting, rock repairs, millions of buckets carrying heavy concrete and rocks. One thing I can say, there isn’t a lazy bone in your bodies! I admire both of you.

As per usual it's all about the small details, and you never fail to get it spot on. Great choice to keep the colour as close as possible, it just brightens and cleans the look so well. It also makes the wooden ceilings look warmer in colour. Stunning again.👍

Great job with the lime wash and the bathroom walls! Of all the Italian stone house renovation channels out there, yours is the one that conforms most closely to the twin ideals of preserving ancient tradition and working with modern eco-friendly methods. I simply can't watch people bulldozing mountains to make way for an addition, or cutting down ancient trees to create a flower garden of foreign species, or using toxic products for the sake of "beauty."

Wow, that paint came out whiter than what I thought it would be and it made the kitchen brighter. 3 coats was the perfect amount to make the walls pop. Supervisor Caiù made the right call, lol. I can't wait to see what the kitchen cabinets will be. Hopefully a stained olivewood kitchen, but anything would look good there. Can't wait to see the finishes in the bathroom also, so much coming soon! As always, excellent work all, cheers!

What’s not to love? I just started binge-watching two weeks ago. Excellent series, and it is very informative both technically and psychologically about the construction/renovation process. This is the first instance where I’ve seen a viewer comment serve as a very beneficial QA/QC for your project (i.e. the roof membrane). Kudos to you for preservering through it all. A request: You have mentioned more than a few times throughout the series about how the building materials breathe; could you do a video summarizing the concept of how the house “breathes” with the exterior environment?

Thank you so much 🤗 When we mention the importance of having breathable building materials for a breathable house, we mostly make referecence to the ability to allow the moisture to travel through these materials and to naturally regulate it. Hemp, lime, wood fiber or cork are great for this! This prevent any accumulation of moisture in located point (often the stone walls) that could damage the building, create mold or make the inside air filthy. These issue are often found in old houses that renovated with cement, which is not breathable 🫠

Wat fijn dat de keuken naar volle tevredenheid is van jullie. Tenslotte is het jullie huis en jullie smaak die het een thuis gaat maken. I have been watching you from the very beginning of your series. I have to say I do not like the mess it takes to do your walls. Here in the US things are done so much easier and cleaner. There is lots of physical work, mixing, and trowling. The floors are the same way lots of sand. I will say your house has a nice room layout. I look forward to the kitchen being put together and the kitchen stove, refrigrator, and sink installation.

For the still shorts, or where you move the camera slowly, it creates a calmer image if you turn off AF. In the beginning and during the time lapses, you can see the nervous AF micro adjusting while the camera is moving slowly, or even still. (Not talking about the warbling/distortion from the post stabilizing here).

I believe, after watching your video, that such a thorough renovation as yours must be a great builder of strength and of character.Such attributes of patience ,endurance ,absolute focus,absolute commitment to the goal as well as the building of muscle and flexibility among others.Your larger surroundings looking down into the valley at the agriculture,the village architecture and the lovely landscape and vegetation makes me think that perhaps you are in the garden of Eden .❤

hola Justo estaba por acotar de ponerle un clavo o tornillo a la maya para sostenerla y lo hicieron mas adelante 👍 Amo esos suelos y vi que paso lo que pense de los hongos y en un video pregunte que le pondrian al suelo, que tipo de revestimiento , pero el hongo salio antes de lo que pense quizas sea por que son mas antiguas esas losas y el material es diferente al de ahora , igual les quedo genial solo fue un contratiempo 😉😊
