I have been watching your videos for the past few months, and I must say that you're very good. I have learned a lot from them .Thanks Barry from the UK.
Those are soo soooo beautiful!! It’s surprising how the round one reacted so different. I must say I’m one of the people who likes to see start to finish, so thank you for taking the time to upload the whole process! Thanks to you I’m learning a new skill and making it through the shelter in place orders also!!!
Loved the outcome with the mica powders! I can see many possibilities with this method!! Thanks for being so specific about your methods!! It really helps this newbie!! Great job on your videos!!
I absolutely loved this!! The colours are just stunning. And loved the finished copper on it. Thank you for providing such wondering content with your resin journey.
Yes look for a pyramid, or a odd rock or crystal shaped thing used as a paper weight, or even a mold of small little bits like hearts, flowers or butterflies, etc., you could use then as pretty little magnets? These are beautiful by the way!
I haven't tried resin yet so this video is great. Would love to see purples/amethyst colors and perhaps put the sparkles at the outside jagged edge where the crystals would naturally grow. Thanks for sharing.
You are growing in leaps and bounds! These are definitely the best yet! And I love the lambswool as a background to display the coasters. [I'm a sucker for lambswool!] [I hope that doesn't mean anything bad in Australia!!!] The colors are gorgeous and I like the delicate effects. The round coaster is also beautiful and so different from the others. I still cannot wait for the blues greens and purples! I know you have them coming! Stay safe and thank you for taking us along on this learning adventure!
Hi Julie, Along the way I picked a few tips about resin... don't stir it fast because u will get more bubbles than u would if u stirred slowly. It gets airy like a meringue. Also, try not to stir with a wooden stick because the wood can also bring air bubbles into the epoxy. Im no pro, just hoping these tidbits help ya
Be careful with the Primary Elements, some of them don't mix with resin. That's why you have the speckles of color, these should be opaque. ColourArte does have a resin line of pigments that are beautiful. You'll get much better results with those. Also, you can drag your stick through the resin to bring lines of colors into other colors. Not meaning to be bossy, just seeing you do things that I ran into when I first started playing with resin. And less is more with the pigment colors.
I have seen videos where they said to put your powders in the cups before you pour the resin in them that it makes it easier and quicker for mixing. Just a thought. Beautiful geodes you made! Thanks for sharing.
A couple of tips...to see the true beauty of the colour arte pigments you should use the “resin arte” pigments that are made for resin. The primary elements are specifically designed to be used in acrylics...( if you mix a little of the hot cinnamon primary elements pigment in some acrylic medium you will see the true colour )...although some of them will dissolve many of them don’t. When the resin gets hot it is on the verge of kicking off and becoming unworkable. This reaction is sped up if you leave your resin in a large container so good idea to split your resin into smaller containers which you did.
Primary elements is mainly for acrylic, not all of them will mix well in resin. However Colour Arte who makes primary elements also has a resin line, Rezin Arte, and WOW are they GORGEOUS, plus they just melt into you resin so easily and make amazing effects. The bling it line by colour arte work beautifully in both acrylic and resin. You can also order from several Australian based companies like Just Resin, Le Rez, and Color Passion. They all make fantastic products. I hope this helps you in your resin journey, I know it helped me when people were willing to share, tips, tricks, and product information.
I want to suggest you to get a handy drill with a simple T shape tool to mix up resin and pigments so quickly. It saves much time for you specially when using fast curing resins.
Those coasters are gorgeous I would like to know what you use to make them I'm a first-timer and I would like to make some for my home the colors that you choose is phenomenal I'm not sure if you're the same person that did the blue coasters but those were OMG I am truly amazed at all you can do this is really exciting for me I'm going to try to learn how to do some things you inspire me and I do appreciate you very much and may God bless you and may God keep you safe and out of harm's Way Amen
Wow, they look great, love the transparency look and the effects from mica. The shapes good too, different from the usual round look. Maybe you could find a way to make them look like wood, that might work with these moulds too. 💛
Have you ever seen a real Geode? I have them all around in my studio. My favorite is my Amethyst, and second my aquamarine. My husband gets them for me. They are suppose to bring healing and other positive waves. Keep them close by when your creating. Smokey quartz brings all kinds of good stuff into your life. Enjoy your coasters. XX
So pretty on the 4 Geode coasters. I wonder what they would look like if you concentrated the center of all 4 where they meet as being the center of the "large Geode". Beautiful!
LOLIVEFE has those molds you're talking about. Kanella Ciraco showed the ones she had gotten from there and her paperweights were beautiful. Beautiful resin work!!! 🎨🎨🎨
I use water in all my new molds and write down how much they hold, that way you’ll know how much resin you’ll need. I can’t remember if I left that on another comment so please forgive me if so, it’s just a good tip I learned that was a game changer so I like to share😊
Cool! I think the round one looks different because you didn’t pour any clear into it. I don’t think you used too little powder - you poured quite a lot of clear in the set of four, hence the transparency.
Very pretty, but if it was mine I wouldn’t want that big blob of gold in the center. I’d rather have it more dispersed. Just one person’s opinion. Could you pour water into the molds and measure it to see how much resin you need? I’ve never done this, so I have no idea...
Julie, here's another bit of info for ya. The fine mica powders you're using, have you noticed some floating in the air,the minute flakes will get in your throat, sinus' and lungs. It's a very good idea to have a face covering while your mica is in the powder form. Once mixed no worries. It is VERY irritating in the lungs. Be safe.
The loli vefe site has the paper weight molds. Tammy Anderson has a lot of information on resin art. She usually answers guestions before you think of them.
Julie, BEFORE you take the molds out after 12 hours, dome the top with clear resin so you don't get that lip, then let cure another 12 hours. It's easier to dome while still in the mold. Then unmold after the second 12 hours of curing. Resin ALWAYS shrinks while curing.
