The difference in quality between the juggernaut and reginleif could only be pointed out so much in the novels but the visuals here really highlight it. Whereas the reginleif seems much faster with rigid, more precise movements when shin darts around, here he has to essentially drift his juggernaut in order to maneuver.
Thats why remote controlled robots/drones have problems in current world conflicts. Input lag from a centraliced control tower is over 2 seconds. Its like playing with 2000 ping.

the 8Six one is the piano and cello version the one played here is the original version which is just called Eighty-Six. I can't find it on youtube but it's available through amazon and apple music. It's about 5 min long and the part that plays in this scene plays like halfway through the track.
I'm french, understand too little japanese to be sure but i read the light novel in english and from my perspective : not that much, it's a pretty good translation, however i don't know if the english translation of the light novel did take any liberty or not so take it with a grain of salt
I got recommended this anime because I love mechs but the problem is I love mechs and these are about the worst designs I've seen in a long time. Add in the fact that the animation quality is all cheap CGI, I am sorry but I can't take that recommendation seriously.
Lmao, What do you mean "cheap 3D"? Something wrong with your eye? I've been doing 3D animation and that level of mech animation is not cheap and easy, also that's normally made together by a partnership with another animation company. Much hard process and talent needed especially when fitting it in a 2D characters and environment, and here it's well applied and rendered with smoke particles and effects - 86 animation maybe not grand as Disney, yet those 3DCG are not worth to be considered low quality. Also this anime is about ch1ldren sent to war against "Skynet" due to rac1sm and their story with concerned commander, and they're using a coffin SPIDER TANKS firing APFSDS rounds. Don't expect human mech or heavy armor, their 1990's state focuses on agile mechs that can go on any terrain, thus tracked or wheeled isn't used. I'm a tank and mech nerd and I also agree with others that this is one of the masterpiece anime mech series with unique style and drama I've seen in 2021. Give it a chance.
