I have always loved that song but listening to him sing it to his wife made it even more beautiful and emotional. I remember my husband taking me out to dinner for our anniversary when we were young and living on a budget. It was a nice restaurant and there was a piano player there who played this song. I will never forget that evening. Such great memories! My husband passed away 11 months ago after 54 years of marriage.

I never felt the extreme sadness of losing my husband of 41 yrs. Everyday is a struggle to keep on living for our children. He was not only my husband but also my dearest friend from college. I did not imagine that in less than an hour after the paramedics took him to the hospital, I will no longer see him. My request is for the health care professionals to allow a loved one to be with the patient in their dying moments. Everyday is a struggle for me. I guess I just have to wait for him to fetch me when its time .........

88 yrs. young! One can only IMAGINE of a life like this man has had. People like this humble servant, has not just seen but lived through the worlds most destructive war WW11! The letters that im sure he wrote, were filled with absolute LOVE and total chaos and fear! But listen to him now. He is a manley man with sooo much compassion, he dripped all over ALL everyone! I would love to hear his story. Someone should write a book on this man. He deserves everyone's attention and respect!!!
I sang that song to my uncle for the lost of his family (my aunt & cousins) on/from 9/11. He was a CO of the SAS that never cried except on 9/11 and me sang. Honey, that's beautiful. My uncle protected me, the people and his regiments. But God didn't protect his family while he was fighting evil. That is a perfect tribute to my mom that was my best friend. She passed 2.5 years ago. I made a promise to her to take care of my dad. He passed about a month ago.... I gave up a great job and made sacrifices to be with him until the end. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Most of all I kept my promise to the best mom in the world.

It's not the song that makes everyone full of tears but, the person who is singing it with such endearment, compassion & even sadness. I feel for this elderly gentleman. To have lost someone so very close is bad enough but, to sing a song that means so much is HONERABLE!!!!! ( please excuse any spelling errors) .
