I feel the different deapths of this glazing. I think they are beautiful. The darker areas look like plants under water then there is the top layers. I agree that more exspression of blue on the larger pot would be nice. With a house with many plants against a wall like people are doing these days , oh my gosh these would be stunning. You are so on to something with your technique here. YAY! love it!

Perhaps you could lightly etch/sandblast the shiny surface of the tall vase to make it easier for the re -glazing to stick to the already glazed surface ? Thanks for your generosity in sharing the good and the bad !

Yet another enjoyable video, thank you so much, and may I add that your English is perfectly articulated and thank you for using it. Being old and hard of hearing I turned on the "subtitles" option. I don´t know if you realise just how bad this automated option is? Some errors are easy for a native English speaker to decipher, eg. kill=kiln, part=pot, clays=glaze, glue=blue, radian = red iron, but for the life of me I cannot fathom the following, at 6:20 minutes into the video: "the floating fluid that old fault creations have made"..Can you interpret this for me, please (and for any other deaf people, or those for whom English is not their native tongue).

Thanks :-) I think the subtitles should have been: "the floating blue that OldForge creations have made"

Art is subjective, what one thinks is ugly, another loves. The tall vase looks like a camo covered hand grenade to me, lol I cringed when you added the iron oxide, and then again when you added the ash glaze; I don't like the "browns". I don't think either of the vases is a fail, just not to my taste, maybe not to yours, but someone will think they're perfect. I love that you are willing to play, to have fun, and that you are willing to say "this isn't what I wanted". Life lesson in there somewhere, lol Thank you for sharing with us. Take care, be well

Thanks for taking us through the whole process. I wonder how they would have turned out in a reduction firing. Also I wonder how belt dressing would work as an adhesive for re-glazing. Belt dressing is used to make fan belts more grippy.

I move reduction fire but I do not (yet) have my own gas- or wood fire kiln for it. Also, the glazes I use in electric are all formulated for cone 6 and although it is possible to do cone 6 reduction the glazes I love the most for reduction is all cone 10 :-)

Jag tycker inte att du misslyckats. Jag tycker båda är vackra. Men jag vet hur det är när man tänkt sig en sak och så ser de inte ut som man tänkt. Då blir man besviken. Men som du sa. Ställer man undan dem ett tag så kanske man gillar dem sen. Det har jag varit med om flera gånger. Tack för att du fortsätter att inspirera och uppmuntra till att testa.

I like the idea of using Maganese Dioxide instead of Red Iron Oxide. Is it a one to one exchange? Do poste your recipe for Floating Blue with Maganese, please.
