Have been having one just like this one since I was born (my parents did, actually) even the card box is exactly the same with that red circular thing, lol... I've used extensively, when I did amateur S-8 films with friends. :)

Several later model super 8 cameras recorded sound, which played back on dual 8mm projectors. The reels used had a golden strip at the edge of the film, but the sound quality was pretty average.

Yes, i believe they came out 2 years after this model :)

The brown magnietic stripe can hold a good quality of sound. It depends of course on the projector how good the quality is. In my case i recorded some music on unused sound track of a film to test it and it sounded like I was listening to a mono audio cassette.

I ordered a new bulb for my Dualux in May and the bulb has already stopped working. I've only had it running max a couple of hours in total. Could it be that it just needs time to cool down or do these bulbs have such a short lifespan?

Yep, need to let it cool properly

What is this camera worth. I just found one and it works. I also have the instructions book and cover. Thanks

it is a projector, not a camera

Very nice, but I can't remember does the 8, and/or Super8 format carry sound on the reel? I remember back in elementary school having to run the projector for a few educational films and the sound was on cassette tape, and you had to start both right at the same time, or the audio, and video would be out of sync.

Nope, both formats had sound, although 8mm started getting sound in 1971, this, obviously, is a silent projector :o)

RetroGamerVX Thank you for the fast response. :-) I've always wanted to get into film projectors, but cost, and storage space has always stopped me sadly.
