Any thought on reusing the gasket between that fiber board and the distributor to make water tight? Your crimpers look a tad too beefy for that application!
yes if i was to re do it, i would rtv the fiber board to the distributor. a gasket works decent but isnt 100% water tight. if you run the petronix module it doesnt need to be watertight since its a sealed unit. but if you run points with the round coil then yes id make it water tight, since it will arc out and your tractor wont run right
No, you would need a 6v round coil. I looked on Amazon and Spectra Premium C-632 Ignition Coil should work for you, honestly I'd just go with 12v battery way better starting motor speed
Is the "half spark plug" part that screws into the top of the distributor and your coil wire connects to included with the Pertronix 1247XT kit? I don't see in in the picture of the kit, and it doesn't have a good parts breakdown. ai'm wondering if this item needs to be purchased in addition to the kit?
Update on this kit, dont mount the round coil where i did (on the oil filter housing) , it will overheat it and make your tractor shut off. id suggest putting it on the starter or somewhere else where it wont get hot.
around 200$ the kit works out beautifully, tractor has more power and easier to start. my last set of points and condensor last only a few months before it got too weak to start. it runs way better and i was able to adjust the carb to flow more fuel and i can feel the difference in power. well worth the money. amzn.to/2EZSj8A thats the one i used.
i set the timing the same as points, so about halfways on the slider. the round coil i used had a 3ohm resistor built in but it kept overheating after running it long, so instead of wiring it direct to the battery its supposed to be wired into a ignition switch. i did buy another 3ohm resitor but i havent installed it yet. the wiring aint pretty but i left myself enough wire inase i needed some i could cut it off and use it in a pinch, so excuse my shitty wiring setup lol
@@johndowe7003 thanks for your response. I'm trying to get my '49 running. A colony of ants invaded my coil and shorted it out. I think they came in through the vent hole on the distributor cap.
Don't watch TV on phone. Phone is for phone calls and text. My laptop screen is 13.5 x 7.5. Your video is exactly 4.312 wide I suppose next time you make video you can rotate your camera 90 degrees. Might make it fit screen here better.
@@deadcarnahans1932 yeah I figured . Didn't have a way to hold.my.phone at the Time, I got a new mic and phone holder now I just gotta make more videos 👍 . If I recall my.other vids aren't vertical o dunno which tho
