The first semi-final was between D. Park and Furukawa. The timbre of Furukawa's battle cries was different than the first round, and he clearly understood the magnitude of the situation. A loss to the Korean would be unthinkable. It was Park though who looked to have scored the first point with another trademark men, but unbelievably only one flag went up. No point. Furukawa unleashed one of his fearsome thrusts to the throat followed immediately by a men strike that was scored. Park was obviously disappointed, and went straight back in to try and reclaim the point. A series of vicious blows were exchanged and Furukawa then managed to seal the match with a deft strike to kote as Park was initiating an assault on men. Match to Furukawa.
