Great tribute! I have herd the rumors about the fire alarm being disabled but just listened to the firefighters radio while they where in tower 1 and I heard the whoop tone
The fire alarms in world trade centers 1,2,4,5,6 buildings from 1973-1993 were standard cerberus pyrotronics repeating whoops. In building 3 from 1981-2001 was the Edwards EST speaker strobe repeating whoops from 600hz to 1600hz. And building 7 from 1987-2001 was the firecom 8500 electric whoop x5/chime x5. And finally buildings 1,2,4,5,6 from 1993-2001 were the cerberus pyrotronics MXL-V/Voice Assisted.
that's stereotypical. this would have only been the case in wide stream public areas of the towers, meaning that a large area not blocked off to the public. lots of times, when tenants such as banks, software company's, etc owned more then one full story of either tower, they would provide their fire notification systems hooked up to the main system of that specific tower. and lots of times when certain parts of the building was renovated they would replace the alarms along with the renovation.(i know this cause i was high ranking in the maintenance field of the occ(operations control center) )
They were never voice assisted In videos in the north tower lobby can only hear whoops and a video of someone outside the complex near 7 after 10:28 you can hear the same continuous whoop
From what I’ve seen from JJINC’s post of the firepanel forums. The World Trade Center had Cerberus pyrotronics rebranded gamewell century’s with a NY-stripe
Not sure if they actually used those tamper resistant wheelock speaker strobes. I didn't get a clear picture of them from older videos before 9/11, and they seemed like they used those wheelock speaker strobes.
I think us custom house had a cp voicecom or safepath or mxl non voice assisted with cp mt4s or mt 24s or mts with cp et70 speakers or et1010 vandal resistant speakers the mall had cp ummts firecom fet70s, frss's frs's. the pull stations were firecom fms-95 century's fms-2s (firecom rebranded fci ms2s) and firecom 8000 pull stations
What fire alarm did you use to also make the noise and that light? I'm not sure how fire alarms work and what they're called exactly but I am trying to make a memorial
I'm looking into gathering a few things for a 9/11 memorial and would like to have something similar and functioning. Is it possible to just wire these two things to somwthing like a car battery and it'll work or is it far more in-depth? Thanks!
They had Firecom alarms in WTC 7, the hotel had Edwards Integrity on slow whoop, and most of the buildings had Cerberus Alarms with no message, or message
The one on the wtc 1 2 4 5 6 had this woop but also had male voices saying may I have your attention please may I have you attention please a fire emergency has been reported in the building please leave by the nearest exit do not use the elevators 3 and 7 had both different alarms I don’t know about 3 but 7 had firecom 8500 with a woop and chime
