I like your walking videos the BEST. Love hearing you ramble on and giving history about the city and the negative comments are great. Lets face it. We all need to vent. keep up the walking vids Elton.
It’s great to see a new walking video from you man. Sticking with the Scrap, I heard that the STM has ordered 34 new hybrid buses which isn’t much, and I thought they were going to buy more electrics as you mentioned sometime ago. TTC is awaiting their 136 electrics from Nova Bus to replace our older Orion buses. I’m looking forward to seeing them on the road. I have a love hate relationship with TTC’s novas. The 40-foot diesels aren’t so bad, our hybrids are way better though. I can’t stand the artics, they are almost like your artic scraps. One was retired due to a severe accident back in 2018.
A bit of history on Davidson Street.. it was officially named in 1887 after Mary Davidson, the wife of William Darling who owned land in the area and named a lane that passed thru it after his wife. If it sounds curious that a proud man of that era would use his wife's maiden name, perhaps it was because the next street over ( Darling Street) was named after him. 😂
Named after Richard Bladworth Angus (1831-1922) who came to Canada from Scotland in 1857 and helped in the founding of Canadian Pacific Railroad in 1880. They repaired and manufactured trains at the Angus Shop.. located by the Angus Yards. Mr. Angus also had a nearby street named after him in July of 1963. So even if the Angus Shop gets torn down one day for some generic looking condo project, Mr Angus will still be remembered on the street that bears his name. 😆
