Hi viewers, welcome to the channel! I appreciate the feedback on the audio mixing, but I was already aware of it and did it better in my other videos. It’s bad in this one because I wanted to upload it on May the Fourth but I had to leave town immediately afterward and didn’t think I had time to fix and re-export it. I didn’t expect that this video would be the one that got all the attention, otherwise I would have made time for it! Anyway, thanks for watching and please subscribe! I promise the other ones sound better!
I dont know why but, in the star wars franchise, any video about tech, ships or droids, are going to be the most popular, and because they attract the engineering inclined, the most critical of technical errors
It's not about "audio mixing". It's about the fact that there's a noise while you speak. I hope there will be always (ALWAYS!) someone speaking very loudly, every time you will want to listen to any music. Then you will understand the point. If I listen to music, no1 speaks while close to me. If I listen to somebodys speech, I don't want any disturbing noise that lowers the possibility to properly hear and understand this speech.
Good vid...however two (constructive) criticisms 1) you 'voice volume' is _too low._ 2) The music volume is a tad too high. Other than that, an informative video. P.S. - I'd use the UT-600 U-Wing as a 'mission ship' and the GX-1 as a player group transport / 'home base'.
Yeah, I fixed that in my other videos, but I was leaving for a trip a couple hours after finishing this one and didn’t have time to re-export it! Glad you liked it though! And that’s a great idea for using the two ships. I’ll have to keep that in mind if I’m ever in a SW RPG!
The ST-70 class Razor Crest M-111 Assault Ship also is shown to fit the criteria of this list (by any measure, this would be a better for for this list than a Z-95 Headhunter).
Video idea; *best ships for Wookies.* Either as part of the _Wookie Liberation Front_ (for raiding slavers and freeing captured Wookies) or for a more urbane Wookie or group of Wookies to use as a mobile home and prehaps earn a living with [okay that's a Corellian product brochure....].
I was looking for an excuse to talk about the Auzituck gunship the other day, so maybe I’ll have to add this idea to my list. Thanks for the suggestion!
Your picks are great. I might switch the order around a bit for personal preference (mostly based on cargo space), but yeah, these make sense for anyone, not just a space rogue. :)
I disagree, the YT-2400 was new and sought after by smugglers so it would be relatively expensive. I also suspect that the offset cockpit would make the ship difficult to fly, These things suggest that the YT-2400 is the kind of ship a freighter owner might step up to buy after gaining a little experience and money.
An interesting collection of ships. I'd probably avoid the YT-2400 for one good reason. Putting the cockpit on the extreme right side of the cockpit is going to make maneuvering the ship a pain. The field of view is better than the standard YT-1300 as the fuselage doesn't clutter up the view, but a beginning pilot should probably start off with a center cockpit ship. My recommendation is a Corellian Engineering Corp YT-1000. This ship is 28 meters long, has a center cockpit and is able to carry 75 metric tons. These ships may be hard to find as it was discontinued for the YT-1200 but the used cost is about 20,000 credits. This would make a nice starting ship, if you could find one.
There are a number of YT series ships that had centre cockpits, and some side mounted cockpit models had the option to have a centre cockpit. Even the YT-1300 had a centre cockpit version (as well as a right sided cockpit variant). The YT-2400 is unusual in only having side mounted cockpits, and as well being one of the newest is more expensive, so it's the least desirable _first time pilot's_ ship of all the YT series.
Here's a recommendation I'd make for a first ship: YT-1000. Reason? They have most of the benefits of the YT-2400, at least for new pilots (the YT-2400 vastly outperforms the YT-1000 but a new pilot wouldn't necessarily benefit from that if they can't put it to good use) but they're significantly cheaper. One downside is that the YT-1000 "requires" a copilot but most piloting functions can be handled by one person (it's not like the copilot has to constantly push buttons, their job is mainly to keep an eye on the ship and handle any additional functions _while_ the pilot is actively flying the ship, and chances are a new pilot isn't going to need to plot a hyperspace jump while simultaneously flying high-G maneuvers).
I use a modified U-Wing with computer controlled Ion cannon from a Y-wing, and an internal set up for hostile boarding, evac, and infil operations. My OC is a Republic marshal and ex rogue squadon, and rebel marine pilot.
If I remember correctly, there’s a Shadow Caster (or Lancer-class patrol ship), a VCX-100, a GX1 Short Hauler, a Utilipede transport, a Y-Wing, a WTK-85a interstellar transport, the Breon Dayvan, and at least 4 mystery ships. It’s a very dense and very cool location!
The first ship i would look for would be the Kazellis-Class Light Freighter. It has a crew of 1 and can have 3 passengers, with cabins it looks like. Rather cheap, new at 50,000 credits. It has good maneuverability and comes off the assembly line already kitted out with shields and quad guns. The stats on the SAGA wiki indicate it is one of the easier freighters to fly with the pilot bonus being +0 (it seems like a lot of freighters have a minus value, YT-1300 has -5 for example). It seems like it is a little smaller then the YT-1300 so it should fit on this list. It is also faster and costs half as much as a YT-1300. It also looks dead sexy too.
A good craft would also be the Lancer Class pursuit vessel. Small, well armed, equipped with a brig for prisoners, an armory, cabins for crew or passengers. Highly customizable.
I kinda disagree with the Z-95, but only for one specific reason: creature comforts. All the other ships are large enough that you could actually live in them, in this regard the Z-95 just fails.
I like the WTK-85A , the cockpit and space of the U WING or the YT-2400, but for price, space and style for sure i would have something waaay smaller, the equivalent of a key van haha, I'm thinking like the phantom 1 o 2 :)
next step up from an air speeder? .. easy to use/start flying .. versatility .. starting to venture off planet ? .. DayVan .. the name made me think of day sailors .. useful enough to take short trips, some room for passenger/light cargo. that trailing central hull is intriguing. .. WTK 85A / GX-1 / Fondor are really nice, small starter ships -- varying degrees of work _(and depending on where you bought one)_
For a ship to live in definitely the GX-1 feels good to me, I would like the U Wing a back up for more tactical and utility BUT I my favorite lone Bounty hunter ship is the clone Arc 170, the X wings hefty grandpa it less agile in a dog fight but it has all the other advantages but more room to modify and upgrade The Attack Reconnaissance doesn't get enough love
The ARC-170 is one of my favorite ships as well, but it needs three crew or serious modifications to operate effectively with only one, so it didn’t qualify for this list. It’ll definitely be on the list when I make a video about the best bounty hunter ships, though!
@@RadioFreeCoruscant Yes definitely modified, you wouldn't need co pilot or gunner with a droid or 2 the extra space could be fitted for more gear, carrying bounties or just a little more room and comfort
@@jacobweinstock2180 Yeah, I've seen a picture of an ARC-170 model where they hollowed out the space between the cockpits and installed very small living quarters, which was super cool. Here's the image: preview.redd.it/v94x5e4zcyj21.jpg?auto=webp&s=7147e33bb51d9b5470ce673f8943cc32d406a7e5
@@jacobweinstock2180 Agreed. I kind of doubt that it would be possible to do that extensive modification since presumably the ship needs whatever was in there. They aren't going to armor and shield an empty space, after all. It makes for a cool model, though!
The Breon Dayvan in Andor actually has Y-Wing engines added, which I assume improved the ship's performance. I have never seen a rendering of the stock Dayvan. Still, it should be a good ship.
Could have been that the y-wing engines were the cheapest ones that would fit. Kind of like repowering a car with a busted V8 with a V6 or inline 4 because they were cheap, available and you need to get moving again
Great video! I'm excited to have someone new for starwars content. One thing though, please look at your audio. Even with headphones on and the volume maxed your hard to hear. The music is a bit much too, tone it back and your voice up. Your voice overs are great, let us hear them!
Thanks, glad you liked it! I think the audio is mixed better in my other videos for the most part, but I didn’t have time to fix and re-export this one in time to get it out for May Fourth like I wanted to, so now I’m stuck with it!
basically any of the yt series ships fall into this, or really any correllian vessel in general. my personal favorites are the yt-600, the yt-1760, and the yg-4210. the latter of which, while being the most expensive, is a long range scout vessel with a class 3 hyperdrive, three oversized engines for her tonnage (which means more speed), plenty of living space, is decently armed and armored, only needs one pilot (but is also built to accomodate an r series droid co pilot), is only 24 meters long and can carry a YEARS worth of consumables. and just like all of their other products, the ship is insanely customizable. the company is basically the honda of starwars.😂😅 something else that would work very well as a starter ship is the nu- class assault shuttle from the clone wars. it could make a pretty decenct home all by itself for one or two people. you could easily set up a cage for bounties or even make room for small cargo transport if you wanna be space amazon or whatever. if youre in the galactic civil war era and beyond finding one thats just languishing in a star yard somewhere probably wouldnt be too hard. as a bonus these things were designed to attach to prefab units to their ventral hull via mag clamps: in the clone wars this was mostly used to set up barracks and field hospitals, however, this would also let you take and set up a prefab house on literally any planet, moon, or large asteroid you please. yet another bonus is that you can use those same mag clamps to carry large cargo containers for extra money on your space amazon runs if you wish.
Those are all great ships; I’ll have to keep them in mind for sometime when I do a sequel to this video! I only used ships that officially needed one pilot, so the Nu would probably be out, but it would definitely make a great home as you mentioned!
My money would be on a YT-600 series, especially the 650 with elevated cockpit, factory upgraded engines and racing stripes! 20 meters, 1 pilot, decent handling, class 2 Hyperdrive, 80 tons cargo space, 3 (small) cabins, machine shop, a dorsal turret giving 360 degree field of fire, and almost embarrassingly cheap. Sure, no shield, but its saucer shape lends itself well to installing a "refurbished" one off a junkyard or similar. Alternatively an ETA-class shuttle... less cargo capacity, fixed front lasers, but really nimble and easy to fly. ANY ship can be made to be great with enough credits! The trick is to get what you need, as cheaply as you can get away with. :)
A Delta-7, a Eta-2 or a N1 Starfighter may be affordable. Assuming you can bypass some criteria. -Small ship. -Requires a Hyperspace Ring (May be sold separately). -No shields. -Outdated (or forbidden by the Galactic Empire).
Great list, I'm saving this video to reference for the next Star Wars RPG I run! The music volume kind of drowned out your speech for most of the video though, just some constructive criticism for your next video.
Personally, I gutted a Star Cab, updated the hyper drive, installed modern droids, and when it comes into port no one bats an eye other than to think that an ancient scout is coming back to port after 100 or so years. While it was 70 meters in length it's ancient look makes for perfect camouflage in most situations when the interior is not being gone over. Mara Jade has a very similar ship that she even manages to fit a z-95 headhunter into so the amount of customizing is nearly endless and as I said it's ancient design only turns heads due to it looking like what your great great grandparents would consider an antique.
The ARC-170 is a pretty awesome ship. It would be good for a single pilot and an astromech. I’d replace all the cannons with ion cannons and add magnetic clamps for boarding operations and bounty hunting.
I thought about including it, but I didn’t want ships that needed multiple pilots. I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to make the ARC-170 work for one, but a beginner pilot might not have those skills. It’s definitely on my list of ships for bounty hunters, though! Not sure when I’m going to make that video, but when I do the ARC-170 will be in it! I’ve also got a video about the history of the X-Wing that talks about the ARC-170 as well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u_tNYoGshjk.html
I came up with a ship. It was put together on a junk planet. It uses a ST-TNG Danube runabout based hull (L-23m), w/4 Y-Wing engines (2/side), YT-1300 cockpit module. 4x heavy laser cannons flanking cockpit, 1x twin ion cannon turret (from Y-Wing). Class 1 hyperdrive. Called her the Caracara.
If used in an RPG, they pilot would have to roll to see if she’ll fire up… it is a junkyard dog after all… lol. Still, in a ‘verse of strange and one off designs I think the Caracara would hold it’s own.
Surprised in all this, the Nova Drive 3-Z didn't enter the conversation. It requires 2 crew to run effectively, but you can buy one new for 60k credits, or used for 20k credits. It is essentially a redesigned YT-1200 that has better cargo capacity (150 tons) than a '1300 and passenger space only slightly less than a '1300P. And it has a tougher hull. At 20k credits used, it's a bargain.
I don’t think I’ve ever looked at the 3-Z before, but it seems like a great ship! I’ll have to keep it in mind if I ever make a sequel to this video or my latest one about light freighters!
I feel like the cec yv series might have interesting places in multiple lists knowing even on this list there are ships that have a turret aswel thus something like the 929 wich is an armed freighter and most weapons are frontally mounted making it less hard to defend itself..
Less than 50k credits used club, CG-44B freighter carries 200 metric tons(double the yt1300) 1100mph and 4 quad cannons+torpedo laucher. Karellis freighter carries 100 metric tons, two quad laser cannons. YT440 freighter carries 17 metric tons but 40+passengers, 1100mph and 8 weapon mounts. Basically a gunship. These feel like cheat ships for the price. Fast and decent weaponry.
Those are all good. I actually covered the Kazellis in my video about the best light freighters! I might have to make a best fan-made ships video someday and include the CG-44B.
I’ll keep that one be in mind for a potential sequel to this! It’s too big for the rules I set for this video, but I might change them for the next one.
Interesting. This vid was recommended. You need to work on audio balancing. Your recorded audio is ridiculously quiet. Have to turn up my speakers, and then the music is super loud. Good video concept though, keep them coming.
Yep, I fixed that in my other videos, but I ran out of time to re-export this one since I was going out of town but wanted it up for May the Fourth! Little did I know this going to be the one that would get recommended to people!
After thinking about it a bit. I imagine the things a first time star pilot would be looking for would be similar to what we might be looking for in a first car, a first motorcycle or a first airplane: Something that is easy to fly, doesn't require a co-pilot, is inexpensive to purchase and operate and easy to repair. It can be difficult to judge spacecraft on these criteria because the information we have on many of the more affordable craft from the Galaxy Far Far Away is limited. I Suspect that the following ships might fit the bill ST-70 Class Razor Crest M-111: This smallish gunship kind of falls into the same niche as the U-Wing, a compact military ship with enough internal space for simple living quarters and a little cargo. I can't speak for the ease of operation, but Din Djarin was able to fly his without the aid of a copilot or astromech, and the center cockpit and reasonably good field of view should help. It's old enough that you should be able to buy one cheaply. Its operating costs are low enough that Din was able to keep it flying in spite of the lack of income while he was lying low with Grogu. It was rugged enough that it could be made to fly after he crash landed on an ice planet, and it seems fairly easy to service. VCX Auxiliary Starfighter: The 12 meter long runabout cost 22,000 credits new, had starfighter like performance and a surprisingly large cabin, which could be fitted with a very simple living quarters, this could be the Star Wars equivalent of van life. The ship came from the factory without a hyperdrive, but at least one ship (the Phantom from Rebels) had one fitted later. There are others that may make the cut, including some of the shuttles from the Clone Wars, the Corellian Engineering Corporation JumpMaster 5000, and possibly the Y-Wing but I don't have enough information to be sure they would work.
That great, that different good, what on cargo basic R - 2 D-2 astro navigator, idea 💡 good day. I seen Star Wars t.v. series and movie ,that cool and different 😅. 👌 👏 wow.
i prefer the Headhunter to the flashy, attention seeking Xwing. would try to strap bigger guns and engines onto it. but, all ships need more oomph and pew pew.
I don't think that the Z-95 fits the brief. No hyperdrive, so it's only useful if you stay in one system. If you want another very small ship, maybe the VCX Auxiliary Fighter (ie Phantom from Rebels).
I think you’re right about the Z-95 being a poor fit. I don’t remember why I included it, so it might have been filler because I was originally trying to go for 10 ships on the list. I like your idea of replacing it with the VCX auxiliary shuttle, although I don’t know if it was sold separately from the VCX-100. You could probably get one secondhand pretty easily. There are probably plenty of people who want to upgrade to something like a Sheathipede like the Ghost crew did.
A Y-T 2400 that has been modified into a gunship that light capital ships need to pay attention to. The concept is a fighter that you can walk around on and sleep in a real bed.
🤔 . . . How about an Ugly Starfighter contest where, in comical terms, whoever makes Palpatine Puke wins… < ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6yhm3wVgyYs.html > My entry: much like the C-Wing, I’d use a spacious cockpit capable of carrying a small squad of elite troops. However, much like the Deathraven, it uses three to four B-Wings, winglets included, capable of folding around the cockpit for landing purposes. But the most dangerous feature of all, usually carried by its pilot’s Titan-Class Star Destroyer (its the personal starfighter of the captain of that ship), are its TIE Boarding pods that are used as starship/space station boarding warheads filled with battle droids, main combat & sabotage droids, that’ll make the subsequent landing & infiltration mission(s) into the enemy vessel(s) possible…
That sounds like an interesting idea; I'll have to add it to my list. I've never been a big fan of Uglies conceptually or aesthetically, but your C-Wing at least sounds like it fulfills a specific purpose rather than just being a combination for combination's sake!
Yeah, its primarily for a hardcore fan only movie idea due to disgruntled franchise fans, @@RadioFreeCoruscant. Aside from the custom starfighter & personal starship, both named Royal Tiger, my near human Cathar character (primarily referencing that MMORRPG _SWtOR_ ) can be quite a character invading a galaxy far far away after a long time of traveling… Anywho, the rules are pretty much the same: starfighter needs to be so~o ugly that it’ll make Vader Vomit & Palpatine Puke…
Maybe? You certainly could with minor modifications. I don’t think we see anything other than TIE fighters so he’s to one in Rebels, but the C-ROC variant is supposed to be able to carry Scyk starfighters, so it could probably be modified to carry other fighters.
I understand not wanting to split view count if thats your reasoning for not fixing the audio but for me personally i will have to skip this vid. I'll check some of your others out though!
The GS-100 Salvage vessel is definitely way bigger, but it only requires a single pilot. We've seen it be piloted by an absolute buffoon, so its clear it doesnt take too much skill to pilot.
I actually thought about doing that for the channel’s one year anniversary, but I decided I’d rather make a new video instead. I still might in the future, though!
A cool idea for a video, but the audio mixing is truly terrible. Consider pulling this video and re-releasing it with the audio fixed, and it'll make a better first impression for new viewers of your channel.
the problem is the z-95 headhunter does not come standard with a hyperdrive. that is a aftermarket add on. i would suggest the phoenix hawk light pinnace instead. decently armed and only 19.2 meters long, i sports 2 twin linked heavy blaster cannons in a front turret and 2 twin linked light ion cannons behind. it has 20 metric tons of cargo capacity and has up to 2 months consumables storage and only costs 112,000 new or 22,500 used.
Hello, I can barely hear your voice, while completely unnecessary background sound/music/noise(for me) is very loud. Please. Please, please, please. Don't add background noise if you are planing to speak. Why would you do that??? Do you think we r coming here to listen to music? Or to listen to your speech? :) Your vid is probably pretty cool. If you would re-upload the vid WITHOUT the background noise (which u may call music or smth), I would check it with pleasure. But this one gets -1. For me it's unwatchable (inaudible).
