very nice I have a chance to come out this summer and fish with brother inlaw. this gives me a head start on what to tie for the trip. I live southern sask most of my flies are for northern, walleye , perch . thanks for the info . should be able to out fish him now !!! lol
A very deadly arsenal of flies on that list, you will find a lot of them in most fly boxes over here in NZ. I like the look of that Stonefly, might just go ties some up now. Thanks for sharing.
I particularly like the humpy tied with a foam body. Nice touch. I would add a Chironomid (red/silver) and parachute Adams otherwise agree on all counts.
So I’ve heard. I guess I am one of those hard headed “a worm is not a fly guys”. I need to get past this and tie some up. I guess the first step is admitting my problem...ha ha.
I can’t speak to Scotland fall fishing specifically but in general I have had success with small flies (nymphs and dries) or moderately sized streamers. Also with low clear fall water levels, stealth is important. Stay low approaching the water you want to fish and land flies softly. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Greg Sheu yes it does. You need to match the size of the bugs present in the river. I usually tie several f each fly in various sizes so I can match the size of the bugs on any given day.
None of the top fly lists include 'orange blob' and 'viva', the two flies I have the most success with... Are they only effective in fisheries or something?
Emre Bennett could be. These are the flies that work best where I fish. Of course some fisheries may have different aquatic life so some flies may work better in some places than in others
Welcome to the Hobby/Obsession! A dropper is any fly tied below another. So in a dry dropper rig, a large dry fly would be a "point fly", then tied to the bend of the hook of that dry fly would be a length of tippet and then a small nymph. The nymph would be the "dropper fly". Hope this helps. I have a video on this if you want to check it out. Here it is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DphJ5mLmasw.html
Thanks for the offer! I just use 2 action cameras, one mounted on me the other sits on a tripod unfortunately they have no controls to operate. But I will keep it in mind if I end up getting a camera that needs has need of an operator!
Mid-Life Flysis I have a few high quality action cams and drones for aerial views. I would like to share a project with you and get your opinions is there a better way or time to talk to you more?
