Nice trip! I did a chunk of that route 21 years ago, but missed Maligne as we headed south to get one of our party closer to where he had to start heading back as he didn't have as much time off as the rest of us. We started out in Minn, then down to Wicksteed to Darky to Argos to Cone to Brent to McIntyre to Sarah to North Bay, then turned north again to go up Kawhshapisi to Kawnipi up to the Cache River, back down to Kawnipi to Turn, Edge, Faquier, Louisa and out at Prairie. Used a Wenonah Prism solo. Curious as to which solo Northstar you are using...those look like great boats! Cool trip you did, there!
Thanks for watching! Sounds like an epic trip you pulled off! Beautiful country! Northwind solo is the boat. It is a great boat, light and stable! Thanks so much for sharing your story. Hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
NW Solo...been thinking about that one, the Magic, and the Trillium. I'm 150 lbs dripping wet, so can get by with a pretty small boat. Took my classic Sawyer Cruiser up this summer for a nutso 4.5 day 100 mile/33 portage trip....the Sawyer paddles like a dream, but she ain't light....67lbs in the expedition weight Kevlar. I watched all of the parts last night....nice trout in Sarah! Those portages between North Bay and Sarah are tough, for certain! @@SoloSchmitty
@@chrishaddox9778 that’s a tough trip with a heavy canoe. Those 30# canoes are a life saver especially when you are double portaging! Thanks for watching!
yes, definitely! Lots of people at Prairie Portage but it thinned out considerably once I got on the man chain and almost no one when i got into the northern end of my trip. I appreciate you watching!
I’m glad you like it! I have been wanting to incorporate a map in my videos more and finally figured out an easy way to do it. Really appreciate the comment and glad you enjoyed it!
I'm an old fart who just discovered your Quitico series. I'm about to start my third (this one) because I've done that trip, close to your route, 5 times. The real reason I'm commenting is to ask if I recognized a Razorback hat on your cranium???
Yes, it is an Arkansas hat. Not specific to the razorbacks though. I spend alot of the winter in Arkansas and Missouri hiking and canoeing. The Buffalo River in Arkansas is a special spot for me and I have a handful of videos on my channel from there. Cool you have done this Quetico route, its a beauty. Thanks for watching and I appreciate you commenting!
Thanks for checking it out and I hope you have a great trip! Yes, I went through Prairie Portage, I just got up early and paddled. I think it took a couple hours to get there. I had calm water so no problems. I never had to carry my canoe accross the portage, just took sucker birch, carp and on into canada. Holler if you have any questions!
Haha ya I think you are right. Could have stayed on any of those lakes for a week and never got bored! Next time. Thx for watching and taking the time to comment!
@@SoloSchmitty I was supposed to go last summer with a buddy and his friends. Apparently they had been going for decades. Unfortunately it didnt work out but I know Ill make it there sooner or later.
@@SoloSchmitty sounds perfect! In the BWCA there are Primitive Management Areas that see very little use. I am hoping to look into them for a trip. Hopefully find some of that Quetico spirit here in MN
I have spent alot of time in Sundial PMA. It is one of my favorite spots and it is very quetico like. Some areas even more rugged as far as maintained trails. I have a couple videos with some parts in the PMA. @@escapewithjay
Just came upon your videos today. Can't wait to see more. Keep up the good work and don't worry the least about any misroutes! Every day or journey outdoors is worth its weight in gold! Happy journeys!!
