Thank you! Actually this trip was last January so he is 6 months old now! It just took us until July to post this video haha. Thank you for your kind words and we are glad you enjoyed the video!
Great video and information!! Loved your narration, it isn't annoying and over the top like other videos. Looking forward to our first trip to Kauai. What other destinations have you visited, and did you share more videos? Congratulations on the birth of your baby!!
Be-autiful video!! I may have grabbed a few screenshots for souvenirs. Thank you! 😀 Thanks for some great ideas. I added a few to our itinerary for next March. Looks like you two had a fun and wonderful trip. Mahalo! 🤙🌺
The editing is so good. The music stopping at 56:44 to use the slurp as a perc was perfect. The video being an hour & 15 minutes is nice because it goes in depth. Adding the maps & routes you took was a nice touch. I look forward to you next Hawaii vlog if you ever go back, I want to go so bad & your videos are nice guides.
Thank you! We are glad you noticed and appreciate the details. We hope to make it back to Hawaii at some point for sure, it’s so beautiful there. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful informative documentary. Beautiful scenery and video creation my friends. I like your content. You have a new subscriber. ❤ Looking forward to seeing more of your travel adventures.
This is a great overview of things to do. We are headed here next week, so this helped get a better idea of some of the excursions we were looking at, but weren't sure about.
@@WiththeNovaks It was awesome! We hit that same food truck in old koloa and it was a little dicey looking, but the rolls were SO good! Also did the same kayaking trip, and the float tubing adventure a separate day. If it wasn't for our kiddo's back at home, not sure if we would have come back 😂😂 Thanks again for the overview. Big help on the decisions for a shorter trip.
Suzette and I flew Orlando free on Delta frequent flyer and stayed in Kokee for $50/ night in November 1978. Loved reliving our trip watching both of you sharing yours. We did the Helicopter adventure tour. The Southwest area was all private property then. Na Poli trail was too wet and slippery for us to hike but the North shore was wonderful at sunset. You were Very brave climbing that ledge. None of the food restaurants were there then. We did fly to Maui for 7 more days. 25 foot waves on the North shore. Explored road to Hona and the Volcano. Missed seeing the whales. We are doing. Many Viking cruises now as ours twins have grown up and are having our Great Grandchildren now. Enjoy life and be happy together ! Lester and Suzette.
Hey Lester, sounds like you had a much better deal for your Kauai trip haha. We are glad you got to relive your trip! Did you enjoy your time in Kauai or Maui more? We wish you and Suzette the best as you experience the enjoy of being grandparents now. Thank you for watching!
Great video, guys! We spent two days on Kauai as part of a three island trip in 2022 and saw only a little bit of the island. Thanks for showing how very much more the island has to offer. Makes us anxious to go back!
Hey David, thank you! I bet hopping over to three different islands was fun, we almost did the same but decided to just stay in Kauai. You should definitely go back to explore more. Thank you for watching!
I was bummed when I went because it was cloudy. Need to go earlier. Didn’t know you could drone there. NICE. thank you. The way back is hard not going to lie but I survived so I am sure you will have no issues
We’re sorry to hear it was cloudy for you, hopefully you were still able to enjoy it though! The hike back up is definitely difficult going uphill the entire way 😅.
Unreal Guys ! Thanks so much. You video was amazing on many levels. Huge bonus that it was shot by a guy who's great with a camera. Im headed there in april for 9 day with my parents so I made lots of good notes thanks again and all the very best with your new addition to the family 🤩 Mahalo from Canada.
Thank you so much, people like you that benefit from our video are we why do this. We hope you and your family enjoy your time in Kauai, such a beautiful place!
Hey @@junkookamura2567, The Airbnbs we stayed at are listed in the description. The first one is in Kapa'a but it isn't listed on Airbnb anymore, however we provided a link of another stay from the same host in the same location. The second one is in Hanalei.
AMAZING !!! we just got back from 3 weeks in hanalei bay and piopo beach. I used the same drone but the videos looks kinda flat. can you share what kind of LUTS or filters you used to make it pop like that? thank you !!subscribed !!
Thank you so much! 3 weeks in Kauai sounds amazing. For our drone color setting we actually didn't film in RAW (D-Log M), we used the "Normal" setting because we really liked the way it looked and we didn't need to apply a LUT to it. We did however do a little post editing to those shots, but just basic corrections to make it look a little better. We know shooting in RAW is better if you want more control over your footage but with how long we knew it would take to make this video we where looking for shortcuts where we could. For our Lumix S5 we did shoot in RAW (V-Log) and applied a conversion LUT to the footage, then did some post editing. Thank you for watching and subscribing and we hope you are having a wonderful and safe holiday season!
I like how you all didn't put music in EVERY SINGLE SHOT so we can actually get a feel for what the place feels like through sound. Most videos use music throughout the whole thing & we don't get to hear the waves crash & chickens chirp.
We are happy to hear you appreciate the raw audio. It was important to us to leave some of the raw audio in the video to get a better feel of what we experienced. Thank you for watching!
Me and my wife just went for our honeymoon the week before this upload!! Awa'awapuhi trail was absolutely gorgeous and we had the best time there. Amazing video!
Thanks for making this video! Helpful how you posted all the names and prices of each restaurant or tour that you tried. Would you say that a 4WD is totally necessary? I already booked a rental car and I'm nervous I won't be able to go places cause it's a sedan
Hey, we are glad this video was helpful for you! A 4WD isn't necessary unless you plan on venturing to places off the roads such as Polihale State Park. During our 9 day trip, Polihale State Park was the only time we felt it was necessary to have one, even then we saw a few people driving none 4WD sedan through it (at a slower pace) fine, but we wouldn't recommend it. If there is anywhere you are planning to visit while you are there that you are unsure about I'd do a little research before hand. We hope this helps, thanks for watching!
How would y'all rank the beaches that you visited? Going here in November for the first time, so it was good to find someone else who went during the off season! Great video!
That’s a great question because we enjoyed these beaches for different reasons. Disclaimer, we didn’t get in the water during our trip because the current was very strong so we can’t speak to the water itself. Here is our rankings for the beaches we visited: 1. The beach at Polihale State Park - Sitting on the beach with a view of the Nā Pali Coast was really cool, also the beach was very secluded and we hardly saw anyone the entire time we were there. We went early afternoon but if you can make it during sunset we saw a few videos that recommended going during that time because it’s beautiful. 2. Kauapea Beach (Secret Beach) - This beach is right next to Kilauea Lighthouse and you can see it in the distance on the cliffside from the beach. This area was also pretty secluded and a very relaxing spot. 3. Tunnels/Ha’ena Beach - Putting these two beach together since they are next to each other. Kind of secluded depending on which area you are in. Ha’ena Beach got a little crowded but not as busy as Poipu or Shipwreck Beach. There is a public parking lot with restrooms and Maniniholo Dry Cave is across the street which contributes to the likely crowd. Tunnels Beach however, is more laid-back because there are private homes along the beach and there are not any obvious public beach access points. 4. Lae Nani Beach - This is a little beach that was in front of our first Airbnb. This was a unique beach with not much sand surface because there was a lot of foliage and even a big fallen tree which we sat on for dinner on night. We aren’t sure if there are any public access areas to this beach. 5. Shipwreck Beach - This beach is located next to Maha’ulepu Heritage Trail which is a beautiful hike. Shipwreck beach itself has some resorts and a country park along its shore making it a lot busier than the other beaches listed above. 6. Poipu Beach - Was a nice, very calm beach with chickens roaming everywhere, we saw a Hawaiian Monk Seal (currently on the endangered species list so keep your distance) laying on the sand and we came back during sunset to see the turtles come out of the water to rest on the shore. There are also some restaurants and other things to do as well. That sounds like a lot of great things, but we placed this beach last only because it was very crowded. You can’t go wrong visiting any of these beaches as they are all gorgeous and different. Our main appeal when going to the beach in seclusion which you can probably pick up on from our comments above haha. If you enjoy things to do and don’t mind crowds, Poipu and Shipwreck Beach are probably more up your alley. We hope this helped you figure out which beaches are more suitable for your needs. Thanks for watching!
That means a lot, we spent countless hours putting this together.. thank you so much! Yes haha it was very intimidating honestly.. but totally worth it.
We have the GoPro HERO9 Black which we bought back in 2021. We didn't actually use the GoPro while we were on the helicopter. We used our Lumix S5 mirrorless camera which takes beautiful footage (we are still learning the ins and outs of it though) and an iPhone which took pretty good footage on its own. The standard settings we typically use on our GoPro are: 4K | 30fps, bit rate high, sharpness low and color flat (so we have more control over the footage in post). One full battery would probably last you the whole tour unless you are planning to film the entire flight.
First, congratulations to you both. Hope you have a beautiful, healthy baby. Your video was a little long, but enjoyable. My son and I will be in Kauai in October for 16 days. It's his second time and my fifth. Kauai is MY favorite island. Hope we are able to still have our vacation, with the terrible fires in Maui :(. I LOVED the doors off helicopter tour we took in 2021. It's the only way to do a helicopter flight on Kauai. JoJo's is good, but I like Wishing Well Shave Ice and also, He Fats. Next trip there, you must try JO2 (Kappa) and The Dolphin in Hanalei for dinner, excellent. There are several outstanding restaurants on the island, but SO expensive. You are a cute couple and I wish you all the happiness life can bring. Till your next adventure, ALOHA!
Thank you very much! Thank you for your feedback as well, the video is long and in the future we are going to cut out more of the unnecessary footage. We will also keep in mind your suggestions for the next time we go to Kauai. We wanted to go eat at The Dolphin but couldn’t fit it in. We hope you and your son are still able to go to Kauai and wow 16 days sounds amazing. We thought we’d be tired of Kauai after 9 days but we wanted to be there longer. We wish you a life of joy and happiness as well! Thank you for taking the time to watch! Aloha!
@@WiththeNovaksPlease don't cut out footage. I have watched dozens of Kauai videos over the past 2 weeks & eventually was recommended this video. It's one of the longest personal vlogs on Kauai showing me slightly different things from other videos with different information & shots. If he thinks the video is too long, respectfully, he can just skim through it. I on the other hand need as much information as possible before I decide to head down there. I appreciate the hour long vlog.
@@NalleDara thank you for that feedback as well! We are glad to hear you appreciate the details. We tried to capture as much content as possible and provide our experiences as we too were sifting through a number of Kauai videos when planning our trip. We also time stamped every section in the video so it’d be easy for those who wanted to skip through to certain parts. We really appreciate your and everyone’s comments as we put a ton of work into this video and it really encourages us to keep at it. Thank you for watching!
I just now in September found this video, it was very well done and its so gorgeous, great editing and you two are the cutest, i guess you may have had your baby by now, i hope you are well and happily enjoying your little bundle. What did you guys have? My nephew got married on this island a few years ago, unfortunately i could not attend, but am kicking myself for not having gone as Hawaii has always been a dream of mine since a project i did in Grade 8.
Thank you very much! Yes we had our baby boy last month, we are definitely enjoying having him in our world. Thats unfortunate you missed your nephews wedding, but you should definitely make time to visit Hawaii it’s absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for watching!
Hey, the first Airbnb we stayed at on the water is unfortunately no longer listed on Airbnb, but the host has another great stay in the same area which we linked under the "Sources" section in our description. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video, we are going to Kauai in two days and this is helpful! Although you didn't tell us about the Holey Grail donuts...were they as good as everyone says?? Mahalo!
@@wbynan we don't unfortunately. We grabbed them all from Epidemic Sound though, beside the three Flume songs we used. We purchased rights of use for those three off of lickd.co
Hey! We did the 3:00pm timeframe. They will ask you to be there by 2:20pm because the office you check-in at is not at the helicopter pads. At the office they have you fill out paperwork and watch a safety video. After checking in you will need to drive to the airport which I believe is a couple miles away. Please do the doors off tour, it's amazing! Thank you for watching!
Thank you! We are glad this helped you plan out your trip. We hope you enjoy your trip in September and have great weather! We have a DJI Air 2S, it's a great drone. Thank you for watching!
Hey, the Airbnbs are linked in the description under "Sources". The first Airbnb we stayed at is no longer listed on Airbnb, but the host has another great stay in the same area. Thank you for watching!
Hey Tina! We did the 3:00pm timeframe. They will ask you to be there 40 minutes prior to your takeoff time because the office you check-in at is not at the helicopter pads. After checking in you will need to drive to the airport which is a couple miles away. Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much! We pulled the maps from Google Earth. It’s a free app you can download that lets you pick your locations and you can screen record the interactions you make, it’s pretty cool! There are a lot of tutorials on RU-vid for it.
As a mom and grandma I have to say that short sketchy trek to the Awa'awapuhi trail vista point was probably not the smartest thing to do ESPECIALLY while you are carrying a whole other human inside of you. My husband and I were cringing just watching. I had to look away. Other than that, we enjoyed the rest of your video.
We totally respect that, and it of course crossed our minds. In that moment, our thought process was not to prevent ourselves from experiencing moments because of fear and trusting that God has us covered, partnered with analyzing the situation thoroughly and using our best judgement based on how this climb looked up close and personal. We’re so glad that you enjoyed the other parts of the video! :)
Of course! I have a few staple items I use when I need longer wear. For trails or hiking, I don't do much, mainly just a tinted moisturizer, bronzer and mascara. Tinted moisturizer: Morphe Glowstunner Hydrating Tinted Moisturizer (SPF 30) Bronzer: NARS Laguna Bronzing Powder Foundation: BAREPRO Performance Wear Liquid Foundation (SPF 20) Concealer: MAC Prolongwear Concealer Setting Powder: Morphe Bake & Set Soft Focus Setting Powder Mascara: MAC Extended Play Mascara
Hey, we rented it through Turo. We had the link to the Jeep in the description but I think the owner has taken off Turo since posting this video because it can’t be found now.
Hey, it cost us about $8K. We saved up and splurged with this trip as it was our last big trip before having our baby. There are definitely ways to save more, such as a cheaper car rental, Airbnb (or not using Airbnb), less expensive tours (sunset dinner tour is more than standard), getting more groceries and not eating out as much as we did.. but we really wanted to try out so many restaurants, tours, etc., that we decided to plan and budget for this trip.
I tried following the link to the first Airbnb but it’s coming up with an error message. Is there anyway you could check to see if the link is bad or if they removed the listing?
@@ChristopherDornan Sorry about that, after clearing cache on our computer we received the 404 page too, they must have taken it down. However, we looked at the host's profile and they have another cool stay in the same area around the same price point which we linked in the same spot, it looks really nice but unfortunately it's not as close to the water.
You’re right, it would’ve been a better choice not to go out, but looking back I’m glad I was able to experience it safely. It is refreshing knowing that there are people out there who still hold life in such high regard, even in such early stages. Blessings!
Thank you for your feedback. Our voice overs are something we've been trying to improve with each video we make. We are still fairly new to vlogging so we only hope to get better with each. Thank you again for your thoughts and for watching!
Wow pretty scenery. Kind of shocked at what y’all eat every day?!!! Sugar carbs junk. You must be young - you haven’t blown up yet. But you will - your meals are deserts. Just shocked anyone can eat all that & not be 400lbs - lol. But enjoy it while you can I suppose. Someday you will NOT be able to eat so much junk.
January is during the wet season so there likely will be rain at some point unless you get lucky like us with no rain. We read during our trip planning that the rain comes and goes in 10-15 minutes a lot of times then clears up, but we also read elsewhere that others saw nothing but rain for a couple days. We wish we had better advice but it really just depends.
