I've taken to having indoor and outdoor clothes to minimise my chances of staining or damaging my best clothing, while keeping whatever I'm not currently wearing on me hung up next to my wardrobe or next to the bedroom window if its warm enough. Helps keep my clothing fresher for longer too, which is nice if I happen to be really enjoying some particular clothing item.
good advice, the only thing I would change is I would dry a wool blazer flat after washing in the tub, hanging it might distort the jacket as wool is sensitive while soaked.
In my limited experience, the quality of tobacco your clothes are exposed to make a huge difference. Cigarette smoke reeks and glues itself to anything (clothes, hair, and everyone and thing you love). For that reason I will excuse myself if someone lights up any cigarette other than a Cohiba cigarette in my presence while wearing quality clothing. Cigar smoke however, I have found, does not, and if you do not like even a vague whiff of musty cigar smell, hanging the garment to air out on a cool night eradicates the smell nearly entirely. I say 'nearly' because you really need to dig your nose into the fabric to pick up the smell at all.
The use of ice cubes in the dryer reminds me of a trick a nurse taught me that when you get over being sick, after you cleaned everything around the house including your bed sheets and pillowcases, I take the pillows and throw them in the dryer on high with a damp hand towel and that will disinfect the pillow without ruining the filling
I have been hitting the thrift stores lately and the first thing I do is go to the dry cleaners after purchasing. The last jacket I got dry cleaned was 9 bucks. So the cost versus the savings is way below the costs of a new jacket and they always look amazing after cleaning. I don't work at Goldman Sacks and frankly that is just nutz having a dry cleaning bill competition. But here where I live it's a very reasonable cost of ownership. Tailoring! Now that's a expense but also one worth doing.
My best tip is wash socks and underwear by themselves, never with clothes. When washing clothes, use cold water and tablespoon of white vinegar plus tide pod or similar.
Great tips! We have a lot of dry clean only clothes in this household so the more that I can do to maintain them at home, the better for me and my pocketbook. 👍
I'm confused because half of the peiple say I can wash cold wool in gentle cycle in the washer and then air dry it or use a wool kit to tumble dry with no heat. Should i wash them then or just hand wash them?
Great video as always, however, I have one remark. Stashing clothes in the freezer does help with removing some smells, but it does this by freezing the bacteria that cause them. When you start wearing the garment, the bacteria will defrost and start smelling again (this is particularly true for denim). Apart from that, keep the great work up!
Can you make a video on chairs? I’ve been wondering for quite some time, what makes a chair really comfortable and of high quality. I think this topic isn’t widely discussed so I hope for some insight from GG.
Thank you, I just finished watching your suggestion. I don't think that my desire opposes any of the 11 rules. I actually think some of the rules are underrated in today's society.
This I think is the strength of Kyles contribution to the channel. His style is more laid back and informal than either Prestons or Svens style, and his large build is useful for helping to gauge what might suit a larger gentleman who wants to adopt this sort of style. My partner is a mariner by trade, and while most of the clothing that comes up on this channel would not suit his considerable frame, I find myself often taking note of things Kyle wears and suggesting similar things to my partner.
No1 Hack: buy a Samsung/LG air-dresser. Works wonderfully for shirts, suits, jumpers, coats, pants, polos. You will use the laundry machine only for socks, boxers and really dirty garments.
Quick question: I just bought this Drake’s sweater that’s a turtle neck. I can be outside in 30 degree weather comfortably. What kind of undershirt should I wear to avoid stains and scents. Is a short sleeve crew neck cool?
I literally never eat while carrying my bags, wearing suits, shoes or coats. But you can’t save everything. I wear a lot of leather and water stains just happen
Some extremely good information on your channel. However, this video will unfortunately end up being followed by some of your followers and hence damaging expensive garments. Quality dry cleaners should only be trusted with most of the items promoted in your videos. There is a network on professional cleaners throughout the US that should be promoted. Dry cleaning is a small price to pay compared to destroying a garment. Who ever provided the content for this video does not fully understand textiles and professional cleaning.
I really like your team. Maybe this comment isn’t relevant but I’ve got to say that His voice is soothing. It’s an extremely much appreciated break from the high pitched annoying voices that are on RU-vid. I can actually watch this video and feel calm after watching.
